I made this tonight and it is fantastic.  Jim and I both give it 2 thumbs up each.  Here is how I made it.

    SPICY BACON CHEESEBURGER ROLL-UP

    Serves: Look below

    Source:  LaDonna

    Effort:  easy

Comments:  I originally got this recipe from foodguy.  Made some changes to spice it up some and hopefully lower the fat content a little.  It’s absolutely fantastic.

    INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. lean ground beef or lean ground pork

    1 T. dried minced onion

1/2 cup Oscar Myer real bacon bits

1/2 lb. (8 oz.) Pepper jack Velveeta Cheese, cit into ½” cubes

1 pkg. (13.8 oz.) refrigerated pizza crust

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Cook ground beef & onion until browned, add bacon bits and heat through and then drain (if need be).

Return beef to skillet and add Velveeta. Stir over low heat until cheese is completely melted.

Remove from heat and cool 10 minutes.

Unroll pizza dough onto baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.

Pat into 15x8 rectangle. Top evenly with meat mixture.

Roll up starting at one of the long sides.

Rearrange so that the seam is on the bottom.

Bake 25 minutes or until golden.

Take out of oven and let sit about 15 minutes before slicing.

Cut diagonally into slices to serve.

Meal size: Cut into 8 slices

    Appetizer: Cut into 10-12 slices.

Serve with assorted condiments, if desired.

COMMENTS:  You could use the Mexican Velveeta cheese if you can’t find the pepper jack Velveeta cheese.  Or as the original recipe called for, just plain Velveeta cheese.

COMMENTS:  Did you know that Velveeta has 1/3 less fat & calories than chedder cheese.

    Velveeta has 6 g of fat and 80 calories/serving.

    Cheddar has 9 g. fat and 120 calories/serving

I'm going to make this the way foodguy's recipe reads first so I know what it's supposed to taste like.  Then I will tweak it  if I feel it needs it.

Thanks FoodguyYes  Think this is going to be a popular try for a lot of us.

I made this and it is GREAT GREAT GREAT! DH loved it, kids loved it.

Based on CK's suggestion of dried minced onion, I added or changed the following:

--2 T. dried minced onion (instead of her 1 T) subbed for the fresh onion, and cooked with the meat

--added 1/4 tsp. garlic powder to the meat

--used sharp shredded cheddar instead of Velveeta (this worked great)

    --used already cooked bacon

--rolled out the pizza dough into a 12x-14-inch rectangle (did this based on another poster;s comment that she felt the roll was sometimes doughy inside...thought a thinner sheet would bake better.

All changes were excellent! This is a really tasty little bacon cheeseburger thing, and we sliced it and dipped the slices in ketchup and mustard, for lunch.

YUMMO! Thank you Foodguy for posting originally, and for CK for taking it a step further, and for everyone's comments.

This looks great!  Thank you foodguy and candykisses.

The only thing I may do differently is use the refrigerated French Loaf made by Pillsbury (right next to the pizza crust.)  I use it for all my stromboli recipes, and this looks similar.

This would be great to have for one of the big football games coming up!  Thanks again.
