Good morning Ladies.  Do hope that no one minds that I opened us a brand new kitchen for our new year.

Still not sure where our old year went. But so happy that I had such good friends to share it with. You can not imagine just how much you each have given to others this past year.  That kind word, pat on the back and the every so warm hugs do bring joy at times when maybe our day seems just alittle hard to get through.  So thank you everyone.......for just being YOU.

Hello to all and a very happy and healthy and prosperous 2008.  Don't forget about the date change on your checks!  Just a real quick post before starting another day...I'm getting caught up on my neglected projects, so have been scarce.  Yes

I really didn't intend on starting to post again as I don't want to ever hurt anyone's feelings again. [:'(]Embarrassed  Just know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers and well wishes.  I really think of you as friends I've never met and probably won't, but have enjoyed being part of your lives too.  Thank you for that.

No snow here yet but it sure is cold and trying hard; 80% chance tonight; guess I need to get to the market and stock up on my 24 rolls of tissue, 2 gallons of milk and 10 loaves of bread and 15 cans of tuna.  You know - I might get barricaded in here with an inch of white stuff and need to be ready! Big Smile TTYAL.  Lin.

Had to edit a word.  Nancy, you are just as sweet as honey on an angel biscuit.  You take care of yourself and stay well.   Hugs to you...

Happy New Year all!  Nancy, I was so glad to see the new post.  I was hoping a new one would be started for the new year!  Thank you!  You're right, the year did seem to fly by but it's great to share it with such great friends!  Lin, you are right about the checks...takes me a while to get use to righting the new year on them too.  Yes, you better hurry to the market and stock up!!!!  You never know how long that inch may hang around!!!  We had a real eye opener this morning when we got up...10" of snow!  In fact Dave's out shoveling the drive now and we are suppose to get 9 more by tomorrow!  But the trees are sure beautiful!  The winds are suppose to really pick up so it's going to get really bad, in fact I just heard on the news that there are allot of power outages going on in our area so I better get this posted and get some more things done....doing laundry right now.  I'm still not even dressed so better get that done!  Hopefully I'll be back later!  Hope everyone has a  great New Years Day!!!

Nancy, I'm sure no one minds at all; I saw the other was getting quite large. Hope you are resting on the first day of 2008. You know I'm not, because I let so many things slide. I just cleaned the dust balls out of both Vornado heaters in the wind outside. That was a long overdue chore. And the kitchen flooring was covered with the nitty stuff off shoes that gets dragged indoors. Used the dustbuster on that. Not ready to get on knees to scrub it just yet, but will soon. Nasty in spots from coffee spills and chips off fudge, etc. I do not know who would spill coffee on my floor since I am the only one who drinks it. Must have a mouse that likes coffee and fudge...

Ruth, I am so sorry for the blues you are having. The love between you and your loved one must have been very wonderful, but the open wounds of loss will eventually lessen up bit by bit. I know everyone says that, and I heard it a lot, but I could have died myself with the loss of my 18 year old son. I had to find real reasons to want to continue on, and it has lessened as time just goes by.  I do still shed tears at the loss, but at least it's become more bearable after 17 years. You have much love and support here with these friends who feel your loss with you. Hope you are taking good care of yourself and don't be sliding into anything and getting hurt with that snow coming soon, like you did some time back with the garbage can, I remember.

D, that is waaaay too much snow for me to remember about after all those years I lived in Indiana. I do not like it at all, no matter how beautiful it looks for a moment in time. Shoveling that stuff is on the same level as my not liking to iron clothing. But, I do have a deck I have to clean somewhat to get to my car. I park as close to the steps as possible. It would suit me to just get rain all winter. I certainly hope you don't lose electricity. As much as that stuff costs, you'd think there was a way to stop that from happening. You stay well; I keep you always in my prayers.

Ann, I've about run out of anything else to say, except hello and glad you have a day or two of the peace and quiet you are enjoying. I also like it quiet most of the time. I do have the TV on for the Rose Bowl Parade from Pasadena. My last two kids' father went to college there and told me how many thousands of roses they used to decorate a float to represent their school. Terrible waste of roses. I'd rather some were here in my house now, but I do enjoy that parade.

Well, my time to rest is up long ago, just wanted to post to everyone separately once anyhow, takes a long time that way.  Back to more chores to finish, dishes and some bread baking.

    Re: *****PCH KITCHEN*****..........JAN. 2008........Welcome

Wishing each of you a very Happy Healthy New Year..  I look forward to seeing you in 2008 and sharing all our support and help for each other.

We didn't stay 'up' for midnight - we never do. And we certainly never 'party'.  But today is a great quiet day for me to catch up with accounting backlog.  Our sales tax rate changes today - down one percent! - but it means I have a lot of adjustments to make for entries from today onward and I don't want to make any mistakes so taking a day without interruptions to do it.

I had thought of doing a special dinner tonight for us and our son but just not up to it. Not able to eat much lately but don't know why yet.  M brought us in a special dinner from our closeby favorite restaurant last night but I only managed the french fries (and his) which is my all time favorite food.  He always judges how 'sick' I am by whether or not I can eat fries! I also adore melted cheddar cheese..on or in anything but won't touch anything with parmesan (tastes like sweaty feet - but then how would I know THAT?)

Its nice to have the pretty 'siggies' back but now I'm back to having that problem with the 'flashing' or moving ones which often trigger a headache/eyeache.  Don't know why that is.

I'm lucky my Michael doesn't watch any sports - I know this is a day for football and it was my late mother's birthday and she always objected to my Dad spending the day watching the bowl games instead of paying attention to Her.

Again, Happy 2008 to each of you.

    Penny

    Smile

Good afternoon Lin, Ann, Dee,Ruth and to all that drop by later.

Lin it looks like you and I are in the same boat today. Have been working today trying to catch up from a couple of bad days. Just about have the laundry finished that was started yesterday. Fur Babies nice clean bedding is in the dryer and is the last load. Our sheets are washed dried and just waiting to go back on the bed. (a PCH hint ....just wash and use the same sheets., sure beats folding. LOL ).........the spaghetti sauce is simmering on the stove and the fresh bread is just about due to come out of the bread machine.

Ahhh no more scrubbing the floor on hands and knees here .......can just see me trying to get back up or even get around while down there. **giggle** talk about a beached whale. LOL

Speaking of floors do any of you ladies have the Shark floor steamer? Was checking it out on another site and have really become interested in one.

Ann, you and Jim enjoy your quiet day at home today. Thats a really good way to start off the new year. Just laid back , resting and enjoying each others company. Bet you both are more than ready for some quiet time together.

Oh Dee that snow just sounds soooooo beautiful. Its just wonderful as long as you don't have to be out and about when the roads get slick. Do hope that your power does stay on. Do you have a generator just in case? I love snow pictures....hint hint. LOL

Ruth you came close to starting out the new year with a pretty white blanket outside to enjoy. Maybe it will return for you. Do be careful if you have to go out now. Sure don't want you slipping and slideing in the melted snow. (Ruth)

Got to run for now again. Just heard the beeper on the bread machine. Come on by girls in a hour or so. The nice fresh bread with some fresh butter and homemade jam will be ready. :>)

Got my last post backwards but it would not delete for me to redo :>(

And our sweet Penny had come in without the refresh button letting me know. Oh well at least the new board allows us to post pretty pictures like you said Penny. I just read yesterday how you can stop the pictures so they will not hurt your eyes Penny. Will see if I can find it. Think I either printed it off or filed it in my instructions folder. Will post it for you just as soon as its dug up.

You are lucky Michael does not watch sports Penny. My hubby is in there in front of the tv being a arm chair referee(sp?) LOL So sorry that today is your late mom's birthday. Know that it brings back sad but hopefully some wonderful memories. I always dread Aug. since that is when I lost my mom.

Had to smile at your description of parmesan cheese. LOL That is just about the way I feel about the parmesan in the green can. Have started using the fresh parmesan and actually found we like it.

Sure is good to see you posting today. We all missed you.

Well sure do hope that the bread turns out well. Bill was wanting it to be just a tad sweeter and not sure how its going to turn out. Sure does not seem to have the same texture.

Good morning ladies and Happy New Year to each and everyone of you. Thank you Nancy for bringing in the New Year here, good to see you ladies posting, I think this is a new year Lin and hopefully we can all be friends as we have been, and hurt feelings are mended. Speaking for myself, I will be honest, if I were like some who take notes and can remember names and who posts many a time, I would acknowledge everyone by name, but I don’t, just me, so ladies please don’t take offense. And even the new ladies, or should I say even those who posted before myself I cannot for the life of me remember some names. But I hope for each and everyone of you to have a blessed and healthy year, prosperity is nice, but I wish for you good health and many days of feeling good. I use green lettering now as a “go” for the New Year, green for money? But most especially “Spring” will be coming around in a few months. *smile* Last night was a quiet evening here, slid between the sheets at 11:30 could not make it the other ½ hour. LOL. We played Las Vegas Monopoly, new for us, kept us going for about 3 hours, our neighbors came and visited for a while and then Kerry and I tried watching a movie. Today is black eyed peas and ham, greens and fresh turnips, yeast bread is about through with the first rise, will take some up to our elderly neighbor lady. Well I have been trying to get this posted since about 9 this morning, maybe a bit later. Kerry has just taken homemade bread to a couple neighbors and the greens and turnips to our neighbor lady along with some purple hull peas and ham I cooked just for her, she does not like black eyed peas. I am bushed and sleepy as can be having eaten early now. LOL. Nap time…….. No, just kidding. Well I am going to post this and see who else has posted as well. BBL hopefully. Hugs , Connie

Hehe, I see a few of us are making bread today, how funnyyyyy. yes  Penny very good to see you again, has been a while, this seems to be a very down time for many, do you think we are all over excited as well when the holiday season starts to set upon us and then kind of fizzle out when it is winding down? And then the loss of loved ones during this time of year, well any time of year for that matter, takes so long for the hurt to not be so bad. We buried my Mother 17 years ago on Christmas Eve, she wanted to be home for Chrstmas, and was. Dee I would loveeee to be able to sit at the window and look out at your beautiful snowwww! Boy 10 inches and more to come, wait till I tell Kerry about it, he would use his tractor to shovel it, many years we did by hand, what a job. Poor David, hehe. Ann hope you and Jim have had a quiet and enjoyable day. Are you by chance making homemade bread as well?*grin* Hey Nancy, what recipe did you use for your bread this time? I made the melt in your mouth rolls and acted like I was going to lay my head down upon my roll, I was sooooo sleepy sitting there. Lin what kind of bread did you make today? What was on everyone's agenda for the New Year Day dinner? Wonder how Marie is doing as well, if someone was able to check out their freezer. Kerry has to take his tractor to the dealership tomorrow to see why the hydraulic is not going down, it went up fine, but seems to be very stuck in the up position. No ladies, not me, I had nothing to do with the back one, only the front. I have not got my tree down yet, more ornaments are off, but not down. Nancy I give it a good try and then get side tracked, I hate to see the pretty lights all come down, I enjoy them this year, but Kerry brought the box in for me to put it in, so will get it done I think. Yes I will think positive and GET IT DONE. LOL. Think I will see what I have missed on the board for a bit and get busy. SYL, Connie

Nancy, pictures on the way!*G*  They just said on the evening news by the time this is all said and done, we COULD have over 20"!  Dave is thinking about going back out and shoveling again so it won't be so bad in the morning when he'll have to shovel again.  I didn't get any of my decorations down either, I'm hoping I can talk Dave into bringing the boxes up so I can start but I have a feeling he won't let me by myself. Penny, good to see you!  I remember this time of year is usually pretty busy for you with all the end-of-year stuff for taxes.  Hope it all goes well and easily for you so you can soon relax!  Bailey, good to see you poppin' in!  Hope you have a wonderful New Year also.  Don't be a stranger!  Connie, I still want to try to make these "pillows" that you and Nancy are always talking about but breads is one thing I cannot do. How sweet of you to make the beans and ham for your neighbors, I know they appreciate the "good luck" for the New Year!  Sounds like you need to go to bed EARLY!  Tonight I made a standing rib roast for the first time.  Though it was very good, I did over cook it a bit.  I did allot of research on how to cook it and everyone has their "fool proof" way of doing, it was getting overwhelming.  So I did what I always do when I'm stumped on a recipe....call Mom!!  LOL!  Found out she cooked her first one on Christmas so I did it her way.  They are very easy to cook.  Dave liked it but he said it tastes just like roast beef! After he was done, he says, "boy, that is rich!!"  Now he knows why it's so expensive.  I'm not much of a meat eater but I did really like it, enough to give it another try and not over cook it.  time for me to get the last load out of the dryer and get the kitchen cleaned up.  Hope everyone had a wonderful day today and pray that the New Year brings all your dreams come true!
