What to do with candy canes from Christmas?

Smile I have some candy canes I need to use, I do not have pepperment extract or flavoring. So it must be a recipe that uses the candy canes for the mint flavor.  Thankyou for your recipes and input!!!

Make peppermint bark. Just crush the candy canes and mix them into melted white chocolate. Pour into a pan and let set.

Or you can make polar bear kisses. Take your peppermint bark and cut it into squares before it sets completely. Freeze. Dip pieces into melted milk chocolate and let set.

    Yes, I know I am a btch.
I have been a btch all my life. I am good at it.
It takes very little effort on my part, and I am used to it. Applying the same reasoning to you, I cannot understand your offense at being called stupid.

This is the one I use most often...easy and good....

    Taste of Home

"These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are super as a Christmas gift or to pass around when guests drop in," says field editor Dixie Terry of Marion, Illinois.

    SERVINGS: 18

TIME: Prep: 10 min. Bake: 1-1/2 hours + cooling

    Ingredients:

    • 2 egg whites
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 2 peppermint candy canes, crushed

    Directions:

In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Sprinkle with salt and cream of tartar; beat until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased foil or paper-lined baking sheets; sprinkle with the crushed candy. Bake at 225° for 1-1/2 hours. Turn off heat; leave cookies in the oven with the door ajar for at least 1 hour or until cool. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 3 dozen.

Put the candy canes in a food processor and grind to a fine sugar. Use in place of sugar in one of your fave cookie recipes that would taste good with peppermint.

I like hellion idea, as I don't like candy canes.(jmo) I think you would just have a faint taste in your cookies.

Do you think Zacons recipe would work with "fruit" flavored candy canes (my family hates the peppermint ones)?  I have cherry, fruit punch, watermelon, etc.  Janette

I havn't done this myself, but what about trying to freeze them for later to make candy? Most candy you can freeze so it might be worth a try???

Thankyou for all the recipes, I am going to try them as I have alot of candy canes leftover.  I saw a recipe online for peppermint pie, but it does not use the candy canes in the pie filling just on top.  I will try freezing some for later and see if that works as well.

You can freeze the leftover candy. I had candy canes left over one year so I froze them. I took them out the next year to make peppermint bark with them and they were as good as new.

That is what I've done also, grind them up. You can use them throughout the year if you want. So far I've made cookies, dipped 1/2 in white or dark choc, then sprinkle with the crushed canes. I've also added some to a cake mix, then when serving add a dollop of cool whip and sprinkle on a few more crushed candy canes. I like the bark idea. Thanks all from me too.

Use them to make the peppermint pound cake.   There are a couple recipes on the BB (if you can find them).   The one I use is the Bob's Candy Cane recipe.
