    R & R~` Jalapeno Popper Spread~ It's a keeper ~

This is the first appy of the New Year , that I added to The Appy Thread and it could not have been a better choice~  What a great recipe this one is not to mention time saving and very open for additions as well~ It does not get any easier for those that love the bacon wrapped peppers, but hate the wrapping process~  Now you can  enjoy the poppers anytime in just a snap!~  Thanks  Albany/Margaret for sharing this "easy way out" popper recipe~  I added some cooked, chopped bacon to the mixture just to seal the deal~  For those of you that really like the heat, more jalapenos will be needed~  I also left out the parm cheese, just because I have really over done it with the cheese during the Holidays~

Next time I am going to switch off the cream cheese to some melted down Pepper Jack Cheese~

Jalapeno Popper Spread ( Posted by Albany_N.Y./ Margaret)  Allrecipes~ Denise Ramsey

    Ingredients

    16-oz cream cheese

1 cup of mayonnaise( used low fat)

4-oz can of chopped green chilies, drained

2-oz can of chopped jalapenos( did not use) drained

1 cup of parm cheese ( did not use)

Stir together the cream cheese and mayonnaise. Add the green chilies and jalapenos. Mix well pour into a microwave dish and sprinkle with the parm cheese. Microwave on high for 3 minutes~

I made less than 1/2 of this recipe and it worked  fine. I also added some crushed red pepper flakes, Did not have any jalapenos on hand and I also added some cooked bacon( processed in  a mini food processor) (2 slices) sprinkled on top once the mixture was hot~

This is a very friendly recipe for those that like less heat or more heat it's very adaptable~ Janie~

I'm so glad I went back 6 pages on the BB or I would have missed this. Thanks Janie for the review and Margaret for posting it. DD and I love poppers but I won't make them because of the deep-frying. Now we can have something close.

Gm Chef,  I don't deep fry either. Usually I cut the pepper in half and fill it with cream cheese, sometimes cream cheese with herbs then I wrap a slice of bacon around the whole pepper to encase the cream cheese. and bake .

Another way I make them is to cook the bacon and add it to the cream cheese, just like this recipe does only I don't add the chopped jalapeno pepper to the cream cheese. I cut the pepper in 1/2 and stuff it with the cream cheese/bacon  mixture and again bake in  the oven at 375 for about 15 minutes. If the pepper is wrapped with the uncooked bacon it will take a little longer,

Procuitto is another good choice of meat in which to wrap around the bacon and chicken salad is another good pepper filling~  Janie ~   Enjoy ~

Thanks so much to Janie for the review and to Margaret for the recipe!   It sounds so good, but I just don't do mayo.   Is there any way to sub in sour cream for it?

    Waving to all!

Oh and chefly, I reviewed a WW jalapeno popper recipe that was baked that is very easy and good also:

    Thanks for your review~

It is good to know we can cut back on some of the heat. I can take a little, but not the hot!

Sorry about that Jolene ~ I had to re read the recipe~  Sure sour cream would work or just leave it out all together~  When I make the poppers I don't add any mayonnaise at all to the  recipe~

Excellent!   I love the WW poppers but sometimes I don't feel like stuffing them individually, so this is perfect   :)

    Thank you!

Janie, Thanks for the baking info. I've made jalapenos stuffed with plain cream cheese and eaten raw but never made into baked poppers. I'll give it a try.

Jolene, I'm glad you posted the link to the other recipe. It sounds delicious and pretty too. I've also copied that recipe.
