Re: Chantix??? Anyone Tried It?? Want to Share????

    Hi Puffless Dragons!!

Ratherbeintexas, are you taking Chantix?? I remember just not too long ago, that I was having cravings something awful and I was at least 30--35 days smoke free. I still get craving or think of smoking, now, I just don't act on it.  The cravings are there, just not like before.  I am now about 72 days smoke free, taking a half a pill every other day and doing okay.  Not quite as gassy either...LOL  Activia yogurt helped that a little..LOL Hang in there,  we all know how hard it is to quit and we are all here to help you!!!

Jan, I am thinking of going back to Weight Watchers for awhile....just to get myself back on a program.  I don't like the weight gain either, but once the weather gets nice and we can be outside more...hopefully we will lose.  If we can quit smoking, we can do anything...(hope so, lol)

I decided to get rid of those 7 packs of cigerette, I have hidden away from myself.  I guess I will give them away.  I kinda hate to after I quit, but I either have to give them away or just throw the unopened packs away.  I seemed to have cigerettes all over the house and was shocked when I gathered them all up.  Should I give them away or should I just throw them in the trash???

Texas, always good to hear from you!! You sound like you are pretty busy!!

Hope you ALL are doing okay!! We should be really proud of yourselves!!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

Hey Mary and everyone popping in,

I might be a good idea to trash them.

But then if you know someone who can take them I guess that works to.

When I was quiting I could not have any in the house, that just would not have worked for me.

I still have that feeling of "just one" but I know I will not act on it. It not a physical craving, just a mental one.

Feels good thou to run and not be out of breath or cough. Gosh, I haven't coughed in months. Shows you just how much the smoking was affecting my health.

But I have to get supper started.

    Have a great eveing everyone!

    Hi Everyone!!

Redawna, I get the feeling to of just one!! I haven't acted on it. I eat alot of sugar free hard candies and that helps me alot. My DIL quit over 2 years ago and said one night she decided to see what it would be like to smoke now.  She said it tasted awful and never  tried to smoke again...

We went to the Dr. for our blood test results yesterday. My results were excellent. My fasting BS was 106...for the first time and my A1C was 5.1.  All my levels are greatly improved....it is thanks to quitting!! I am anxious for nice warm weather to walk and lose about 10 pounds.  The Dr. was pleased that I didn't gain alot of weight, even though I was upset....LOL I keep telling myself, If I can quit smoking, I can lose weight and keep it off.

Hope all of you are doing okay!!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

Hi Mary and all you wonderful Puffless Dragons !

I wish I could send each and every one of you a rose. Bless you for hanging in there. It's a hard struggle to quit smoking, I know, but  like Mary said, you will eventually feel so much better. And it's good for you and your loved ones, too.

I am determined not to weigh in until I reach my year on Mother's Day. I hate to think what I've gained. But my clothes no longer stink, and neither do I!  I can open the window and have fresh air blow around, without it simply moving a cloud of smoke across the room.

And I have some money to spend. Now, if only I could stop spending it on food!

Alas the cravings are still there and when one raises it's ugly face, we battle it out. So far, I'm winning.

Bless you all. Prayers continuing for you and your loved ones.

I know when I first stopped, my family put up with a lot from me. I was not a happy camper.  I was so crotchety and impatient, and I wanted it all over with - immediately. Well it didn't work out that way. It took time. But you know, looking back, I am amazed at how fast that time went by.

Wilted Flower  Good Morning Puffless Dragons!!!!

Wilted Flower  Hi Marion!! I wish I could send you a rose too. You are approaching the one year mark of being smoke free!!  Wilted Flower  I know what you mean about putting your family through alot with the quitting....LOL  I know I was very impatient, still am at times. I know the first days on the Chantix, I resented quitting, but got excited when I realized that this just might work!! LOL Smoking is a very hard addiction to quit....I just love when people who never smoked, give advice on quitting...LOL They have no idea what quitting all entails...I eat alot of SF candy...always carry that with me and it helps. I weigh myself about every day and watch the scale go up...LOL I think once the weather is nice and I can be outside more, that will help.

Wilted Flower  Wishing you ALL a GREAT Saturday and Weekend!!!

    Hugs

Dear smokeless friends, hello to you all.  I am still smoke free and so very glad to be that.  I was driving today and noticed everyone who was driving while smoking.  That used to be me.  My husband is still smoking, taking the Chantix and I am just hoping and praying that this will work.  Other than that I am ok.  Have gained some weight but not so much that I can't walk it off now that the weather has turned.  Am so glad that spring has finally arrived.

My love to you all. Be strong and be brave.  You can do it.

    HI Puffless Dragons!!!

Hi Janet!  Congradulations on staying smoke free.  How long is your DH on the Chantix now?  I guess we are all different taking the drug and we each quit differently. I was talking to Ron's old boss today and I told him that Ron and I quit smoking.  He said, "And you all over there didn't kill each other?"  (he was meaning with Mom here too, lol)  I said I had a few close calls, but came through it all okay!!!  He thought it was amazing that I was able to quit with what I have to do with Mom and with Ron....all the stress.  I know I sure don't want a stroke or worse, so it was smart to try and quit.  Ron's boss said his daughter at 30 years old had lung problems and almost died a couple years ago. Needless to say, she quit smoking too now.

Hope everyone is doing okay!!  I wanted to bump the post so you could all find it.

    Mary

    Good Morning Puffless Dragons

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I took my last Chantix pill last night I have been taking one a day for the last few days. I have now completed 12 weeks. And it feels good not smoking! I hope everyone has success in giving up this awful habit. I will still come here  for support and encouragement to others.

Have a great day Big Smile

Congradulations NannyHam!!!   I can not believe the 12 weeks are up already. It just seems like it was only yesterday, I started this thread, we were preparing to quit and now we are non smokers!!! Lets keep checking in with each other, especially with summer around the corner...I am sure there will still be some rough times, but we are in control now!!! What a great feeling!!

Ron and I sat out on the porch tonight after supper. It is funny, how my mind wondered to a cigerette... I am still taking a half a pill every other day. Not sure when I should stop taking the chantix, but it will be soon.  I just go make myself some Chai tea and that satisfies.

    Hi Mary,

I quit Chantix a few weeks ago. I took it for a few weeks and it got me to quit smoking but I couldn't stand how upset it made my stomach. It was nice getting my energy back - the drug made me very tired. I am 7 weeks smoke-free as of yesterday.

Keep it up everyone - one day at a time. Someday it will be a year and I'm sure it will be easier by then.

    Cheers!

Wilted Flower  RatherbeinTexas, Congradulations on being smoke free for 7 weeks!!  I couldn't take the full dose of Chantix without it upsetting my stomach.  I am now taking 1/2 every other day and its working out fine.  I am almost ready to stop taking it altogether, but will save some pills incase, I run into trouble.  I still get the cravings, but not like before.  A good friend of mines DH is getting started on Chantix.  To tell the truth, I am so glad the worst is past me and that I don't have to go through quitting and withdrawal again.

Wilted Flower  How is everyone doing???  Our weather is getting "alittle better". I think today is supposed to be nice, then over the weekend get colder...shucks!!!  We started cleaning up the front yard, which needs it badly. Today if I am energetic, I might try to get the kitchen cleaned really well and put up my new curtains.

Wilted Flower  Hugs to ALL of YOU!!

    Good Morning Puffless Dragons!!

My 12 weeks on Chantix are up now too.  I am still taking a half a pill every other day, so now its time to stop!!! Can't believe it, that I actually quit!!! The weather here has been nice and we have been sitting on the porch in the afternoon. Gosh I missed that, but it brings memories of when we sat outside and smoked...LOL  Now I make sure I have a cup of tea or something to drink....LOL

Wishing you all a GREAT Day!!

     Congradulations to you all.

    Good afternoon  Puffless Dragons

Hope everyone is having a great Friday. Congratulations Mary on 12 Weeks we made it! I stopped the Chantix a couple of days ago so far so good. I know what you mean sitting outside is going to be another situation where I will miss smoking also. We are having a lot of rain now so I cant work in the yard anymore I did get some work done and I noticed my Hiacinths and Iris are coming up so that makes me feel good. My DH is still looking for work he has had a couple interviews no job offers yet. I keep hoping and praying something will come along soon.

    Have a great day!

    Hi Puffless Dragons!!

Jan, congradulations!!!  The last two days, I have wanted a cigerette more than I did in the beginning. Don't know what is going on.  I figure since I only took 1/2 a pill most of the time, I would just continue it for awhile.  Makes me mad at myself.  I really considered going outside and having one.  I took a half a Chantix instead....LOL  I am sorta stressed so I think that has alot to do with it too.

We were able to do some yard work this week too. It felt good to get outside and get started cleaning up.

      Hope everyone is doing okay!!!!

    Hugs,

    Mary
