    Joke

    Cigars for the Judge

A defendant in a lawsuit involving large sums of money was talking to his lawyer.  "If I lose this case, I'll be ruined." "It's in the judge's hands now," said the lawyer. "Would it help if I sent the judge a box of cigars?" "Oh no! This judge is a stickler or ethical behavior. A stunt like that  would prejudice him against you. He might even hold you in contempt of court. In fact, you shouldn't even smile at the judge." Within the course of time, the judge rendered a decision in favor of the  defendant. As the defendant left the courthouse, he said to his lawyer, "Thanks for  the tip about the cigars. It worked!" "I'm sure we would have lost the case if you'd sent them." "But, I did send them." "What? You did?" said the lawyer, incredulously. "Yes. That's how we won the case." "I don't understand," said the lawyer. "It's easy. I sent the cigars to the judge, but enclosed the plaintiff's  business card."

Twinkle, snicker on the joke.  Hmmm,, chicken fingers, lol, make alot, DS will probably be very hungry for his favorite meal.  Heh, heh, evil woman lydia knows how to get George; I don't reload the toliet paper - though I do like the rice cracker idea too.  A guy I used to work with knew his wife was mad at him; she made him plain mustard sandwiches, no fillings.

Texas, so sorry you've not been peppy.  Physical and mental stress can really wear you out, and you've been thru your fair share.  Huggs and a Bailey's on the rocks for your shot; although Berny's shot was very cute.

Berny, keep your purdell warm; it's below freezing here in SE Wisc. and the wind doesn't help, lol.  Sorry your treatment is working for your elbow; acupuncture is kinda "vodoo medicine," and, like in traditional medicine, what works for one, not for the other.  Be your own best doctor; many folks don't speak up for themselves, I saw this so many times when in nursing school.  Journal your pain symptoms which helps describing stuff to your practicioner.

Erna, my folks love their toaster oven now that it's just the two of them.  DH bought it for them; lol, he also bought them a touch-tone telephone to replace the 40-yr.-old rotary.  Hope your new bread machine works well, have fun experimenting.

Melanie, did you make the date-bread, we'd love a R&R, stay warm.  When will you find out where you'll be heading coming back to the States; that'd make me nervous.  My brother was Navy several years ago; his best friends were career Army/Navy, we're very proud of our troops and their families.

Picasso, Renate, Jet, think we're in for a cold huddle.  I have frost on the inside of my windows that gots to be got rid of.  I'm sure Dobie & Maynard will be willing assistants, ready to trip me at every move, lydia.

LOL Renate - that is what I did most of yesterday, HUG my computer!  It is surprising how much other stuff I actually got done but today I am going to force myself to not go on here until maybe a bit before bed.  We'll see if I can do it!

Twinkle that Chinese Taco sounds really good.  I will get the bean sprounts and Chinese cabbage next time I venture out to the grocery store... (mixing Chinese and a taco - definitely fusion cooking!)

Okay Lydia what did I miss?  Rice cracker idea?  I plan to go to someone else for acupuncture.  The one I was seeing doesn't do the traditional methods and I think that is why it isn't working...

Maybe you already know about this but I came across a way to go back and review the previous posts while I am replying.  Just point your cursor to the reply and left click.  You will get a little window up that gives you the option to open in a new window.  Then you can go back and forth to read and reply...

Re: Fusion Cooking at its Best - Lets have fun! Please share your ideas

I got this in my email this morning and I thought is was pretty funny (and there is some truth to it!)

    9 WORDS WOMEN USE

    (1)
Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

    (2)
Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

    (3)
Nothing: This is the calm before the storm.  This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

    (4)
Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

    (5)
Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.   (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

    (6)
That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

    (7)
Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all.   DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

    (8)
Whatever: Is a women's way of saying  the really bad word

    (9)
Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Berny, loved the list of words. It is soooo true! Need to copy and give to my DH so he can have a heads-up next time. Devil

Lydia, I won't know where we are going till sometime between April and June. My DH has to finish the school then get his orders. But that is just one of the things that an Army family has to live with. Positive attitute helps. Don't think of it as a dissadvantage, but as an Adventure!

The quilting class went really well. I spent the first day just cutting out my blocks. I have "homework" to do before next Thursday. I have to sew some of the blocks together. I am making a twin size quilt for the class. Some of the ladies are doing a throw or baby quilt so they have less blocks to do. Some of the ladies are doing a more advanced pattern. Its more like everyone doing there own thing and the teacher going around making sure you know what you are doing and don't cut off your fingers with the rottery cutters. (those things are sharp!)

Twinkle, I think I'll join you and trade in for a boat. It has been raining over here on and off all weekend. Ick! Where is the sun?? And how about some snow please? This weather is crazy.

Texas, I hope you feel better. Sending you an e-hug. (((HHHHUUUGGG)))Big Smile

Waving hello to all the ladies.

    IndifferentMy adventures in eating....

Saturday, my DH and I went to Coburg to shop and explore. We decided to have lunch at a local restarant...a little guesthause. The place was packed with the locals, and it smelled great inside so I figured we found a winner. My DH ordered the local sausage with a helping of Oma's sauerkraut and some brot with a glass of the local h*lles beer. I was feeling adventureous and decided to try a dish that I hadn't heard of before. It said on the menu that it was made from a old local Coburger recipe. It was on special and I figured I'd give it a try. It was called Gelung. It is a stew made with various parts of meat and is served with wheat dumplings in a sweet and sour sauce.  Hmmm, here are the parts of meat that was in my stew...lunge, herz, niere, and milz. The waitress seemed surprised that I had ordered this, but hey, I didn't think anything about it. They brought out my big bowl of...gelung...and after I had taken a few bites the owner came and asked me if I liked it. Well...it had a strange taste, I won't lie, but I said it was fine and kept eating. Okay. My DH and I had finially guessed as to what I was eating. Yep, it was a local delicacy alright. And I'm sure an acquired taste for those who like that sort of thing. I was a chicken and only finished my dumplings and about a third of the stew. Because when I realized that I was eating Lungs, Heart, Kidney and Spleen...I was getting a little green around the gills. Tongue Tied

So although I usually have really good experiences with the local dishes...this time...well, now I have four new words added to my german vocabulary and I won't forget them anytime soon.

    Just thought I'd share.

Oh yeah come on over!  haha  I thought Sven was the massage guru - but what they heck bring them both!

Oh Melanie my stomach churns just thinking about that.  I'm sure it is good if you like that sort of thing or if you are used to growing up with that...  I was just going to ask if you were fluent in German after living there but I think I have my answer haha.
