    New to the boards!

First of all, I would like to say hello to all of you recipe buffs who have a plethora of recipes already in your kitchen and book shelves, but still need to come to these boards everyday to see what is new and to find new recipes.  I have so many recipes saved, that I will never be able to make all of them in my lifetime.  But they do come in very handy when I need to find a certain recipe for something I want to fix for my DH and myself.  We are both diabetic, and I try to find the recipes that are both healthy and tasty for our daily meals.

It will take me awhile to learn how to navigate through the many forums and threads here, but I will eventually get the hang of it....just have patience with me.  I am not new to the Taste of Home website and message boards.  I used to come here all the time a few years ago, but when I developed the Type 2 diabetes, the recipes I had collected from the forum weren't the best for me.  I was just too tempted to make some of the yummy recipes I found (ie: crawling cakes, all varieties of brownies, donuts, cakes, pies, and cookies... Did I tell you that I love to bake?) Smile  Anyway, I had to get my diabetes in check first, then learn what I needed to about the foods I was allowed and not allowed to eat.  I also needed to lose some on my excess weight, and just couldn't do it and come to this website, too.  I needed a break from all the recipes for awhile.  Anyway, I am back and looking forward to meeting some new friends.  I saw a couple of posters from the older TOH message boards here.  Hello to all!  Smile

Hi susie, from the Fla. panhandle. I'm going to have a fasting blood drawn monday morning at 6:30 am to see if i'm diabetic. Hopefully , i'm not, but I need to know it if I am. I know there is a diabetic forum here i'm sure would be of help to you.

    Re: New to the boards!

Thanks to all of you who welcomed me to the boards today.  I remember how helpful everyone was when I came to the boards a few years ago, and I'm sure all of you are the same considerate and caring people on this board as was on the previous one.  I have to admit that this board is more intimidating than it used to be....so much to read and so many choices to make as to which boards I want to visit.

Yes, I will be spending a lot of my time on the Diabetic forum learning as much as I can from those who are going through the same medical dilemas as I am.  My DH just recently found out that he is a Type 2 diabetic....I found out about mine about 5 years ago.  So I am somewhat enlightened on what types of foods are acceptable for diabetics, since I do 99% of the cooking for the two of us.  But a person is never too old to learn more!  That's where all of you come in.
