    WHAT ARE YOU READING? 2/3

Good Morning all you readers and posters out there.  Here we are in February already.  I want to Welcome any new posters to this thread.  Hope you will stay with us  You will get many good recommendations here.

I have been reading THE QUEST by Wilbur Smith but got a call from the library that they had a reserved book for me.  It is Luanne Rice's new one called LIGHT OF THE MOON.  This story transports readers across the sea in the moving magical tale of a lonely woman with a promise to keep.  Set in the landscape of stunning natural beauty.  It is a chornicle of mothers and daughters, friendship and family and an electrifying love that illuminates a path through heartbreak and loss.

It is still cold and snowy here in W PA.  The sun is trying to shine.

    Keep warm and safe.

    Margaret

Down here in south La. we are experiencing balmy weather, with the forecast of rain.

We are also on the downward spiral  of Mardi Gras.  Not being one who celebrates such, I am patiently waiting the culmination of it all.  In my small town, it will end about 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon--- New Orleans will go on until the stroke of midnight, when Ash Wednesday begins.

I am reading True Light by Terri Blackstock.  It is the 3rd in her Restroation series.  I just found out there will be a 4th.  I have enjoyed the read, as it has brought a lot of questions for me to ponder.  I like that.

Y'all have a great day --- and enjoy your reads!

after a week of up and down temps, the weather warmed up yesterday.

I am reading LOST AND FOUND by Jacqueline Sheehan.  here's the info from Amazon:

A poignant and unforgettable tale of love, loss, and moving on . . . with the help of one not-so-little dog

Rocky's husband Bob was just forty-two when she discovered him lying cold and lifeless on the bathroom floor . . . and Rocky's world changed forever. Quitting her job, chopping off all her hair, she leaves Massachusetts—reinventing her past and taking a job as Animal Control Warden on Peak's Island, a tiny speck off the coast of Maine and a million miles away from everything she's lost. She leaves her career as a psychologist behind, only to find friendship with a woman whose brain misfires in the most wonderful way and a young girl who is trying to disappear. Rocky, a quirky and fallible character, discovers the healing process to be agonizingly slow.

    But then she meets Lloyd.

A large black Labrador retriever, Lloyd enters Rocky's world with a primitive arrow sticking out of his shoulder. And so begins a remarkable friendship between a wounded woman and a wounded, lovable beast. As the unraveling mystery of Lloyd's accident and missing owner leads Rocky to an archery instructor who draws her in even as she finds every reason to mistrust him, she discovers the life-altering revelation that grief can be transformed . . . and joy does exist in unexpected places.

Good afternoon, everyone. It is a warm 80º here in north central Texas. Very summer-like. I just finished The Fortune Teller's Daughter by Susan Wilson and simply could not put it down at the end. Extremely good. She also wrote Cameo Lake. Has anyone read it? I am now going to start Dying for Chocolate by Diane Mott Davidson. I have not read any of her books but am taking the recommendations I read on this thread that it will be good. Margaret, I love Luanne Rice. Her new book sounds like a good one. I'll look for it on my next library run or put it on reserve. Hope everyone has a great Super Bowl evening.    MarineMom

Hello readers and all new posters.  Today was cold but sunny.  Any day without snow is perfect for me.

I'm almost 1/3 of the way through KEY LIME PIE by Joanne Fluke.   So far the plot is very slow and nothing of significance has happen.  I love this author and I'm sure the pace will pick up soon.

Stay safe and warm.  Happy reading everyone.

I am reading Tara Road by Maeve Binchy.  Her books are wonderful, and this is a long one.  She has written so many --   The Lilac Bus, Firefly Summer and Silver Wedding are some other titles I remember.

I have gotten so many good books recommended by this group.  Thanks to all for your recommendations.

Margaret, I am originally from WPA -- a little town next to Midland (Beaver County).  Most of my relatives are still there so I go back every couple of years.  I always think of home when I read your post.

I just finished Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig.

Its about Rhett before Scarlett and finishes Gone With The Wind. You would think they were written by the same author.

Marlin, So glad that you have joined us. I'm from WPA also. There are a couple of us here. I work in Cranberry Twp., which is in Butler County. I was just in Midland last Wednesday for work. It wasn't a pleasant ride since I was driving on the turnpike with 60 mile/hr winds. We usually get together every spring and fall at the Grove City outlets. Watch for the announcements for the get together if you're going to be in the area. Jan

     Morning all,

Mountain cook, I hope you enjoy BAG OF BONES-Stephen King as much as I did. So far that has been my only King book, have several on my shelf to be read. But I thought that was a really good story. From I have heard of DUMA KEY, his newest,  it sounds good.

Marlin I have always enjoyed Maeve Binchy, think I have read all of hers. I think some of her older stories were better. I liked COPPER BEECHES  real well.

I lack less than a hundred pages in THE WEDNESDAY LETTERS-Jason F. Wright. This a real good story.

Jack and Laurel have been married for 39 years. They've lived a good life and appear to have had the perfect marriage. With his wife cradled in his arms, and before Jack takes his last breath, he scribbles his last "Wednesday Letter". When their adult children arrive to arrange the funeral, they discover boxes and boxes full of love letters that their father wrote to their mother each week on Wednesday. As they begin to open and read the letters, the children uncover the shocking truth about their past. In addition, each one must deal with present day challenges. Matthew, has a troubled marriage. Samantha is a single mother, and Malcom is the black sheep of the family who has returned home after a mysterious two-year absense.

It has been raining here this morning, but looks like it might be about finished. Wink  Have a great week everyone. Betty
