Happy (dreary) Monday, everyone!  It's actually warmed up here in WI to 32, but we are expecting more snow.  That's ok with me.  Rather have the snow and warmer temps than the below zeros we had last week.

I'm currently reading the new biography of Condoleezza Rice.  I'm facinated with stong women in history and so far it's a decent biography.  A little dry.  The author is a reporter, and it's definitely written in a newspaper/magazine article style.

The library called on Friday that River God is waiting for me, so I can finally start the Egypt series.  YEAH!  I'll pick that up today.

Mountain Cook: I LOVE Stephen King.  I strongly recommend his last book, Lisy's Story.  Not sure if I spelled that right, but it's very good.  Can't wait to read his new one.

I actually have quite a bit of work to do this week, so hopefully I can sneak in some reading time.  Stay warm, all!

I am reading THE THREE MRS. PARKERS by Joan Medicott.  This is a book I have had on my to-read list for a long while.  The local library does not have it and I haven't bothered to ask for it to be borrowed from another library, buta few weeks back I happened to find the book on the markdown table at my favorite bookstore Big Smile The story is about three generations of ladies, mother-n-law, daughter-n-law (the main character) and graddaughter.  The elder two Mrs. Parkers have been estranged for about 30 years, with the grandmother never having met her granddaughter.  But life circumstances, illness, money and death have brought them together in one house.  From the cover of the book, "...women who find their way past old hurts and losses to understanding, forgivness and love."  I am enjoying the story and hate to see the last page getting closer.

I will be reading T for TRESPASS by Sue Grafton as my next book this week.  I said I was going to stay out of the library for a while to catch up on reading the books I have at home but the lady at the library called to let me know they had the T book reserved for me.

A good foggy day here in NW Oh.  We had some ice early this morning, so schools were delayed 2 hrs.    I finished the Key triology by Nora Roberts. I really don't know if it was worth the time.   I then read an old book by Rosamunde Pilcher, The Empty House. Now I am reading The Beach Road by James Patterson. It has been out for a couple of years.   I like LuAnne Rice also.

    Hello Everyone!

Its very warm today in central Florida - almost 80!!  Call me crazy, but I actually was enjoying the colder weather we were having a few weeks ago.

I'm currently reading a book called THE ALCHEMIST that a friend passed on to me.  It was written by a Brazilian author back in 1988.  Its a sweet story about following your dreams.  I needed something light to read and so far I'm enjoying it. It got alot of rave reviews back in the 90's when it was released in English. Next on my list is MEMORY KEEPERS DAUGHTER. I actually got the recomendation from these boards! I'm anxious to get started on it. Hope everyone has a wonderful week, and thanks again for making me feel so welcome on these boards!

    Hi Fellow Readers,Surprise

I couldn't get on the internet yesterday, so I'm a little late in posting.  It's rainy and gloomy outside this afternoon and a good day to hurry and get your work done so you can read.

I just finished reading SPARE CHANGE by Robert Parker.  It was on the new book shelf at the library.  This one is in his Sunny Randell series and is about a serial killer who always leaves three coins with his victims.  Sunny soon finds out who she thinks it is and meets with him regularly to try and get him to trip himself up.  On the same shelf, I found a book by a new author, PRECIOUS BLOOD by Jonathan Hayes.  I think this is his first book, but the reviews are good, and it seems good so far.  I will let you know.

I hope all of you have a good week and stay warm and cozy.

I finsihed the last of Jamine Cresswell's triology called PAYBACK.  Very good.  I also read T IS FOR TRESPASS by Grafton and liked it as well.  For fluff I read Janet Dailye's MAN OF MINE and enjoyed it to.

I started Barbara Delinsky's JUST BETWEEN US.  "The Secret Between US is an unforgettable story about making bad choices for the right reasons and the terrible consequences of a lie gone wrong".

Has anyone read Oprah's new book?  I've ordered it; but it won't come to the library until the end of February.

I just finished reading RESCUING SPRITE, A Dog Lover's Story of Joy and Anquish by Mark R. Levin.  I finished it in one day and cried most of the way through.  It made me want to get in the jeep and go to the animal shelter and bring them all home with me.

I'm now two chapters into THE APPEAL by John Grisham.  This is going to be a great one I can already tell.

I have been working on " THE HORIZON COOKBOOK" It is the illustrated history of eating and drinking through the ages. Published in 1968 it is a book explaining the food of the Pharaohs, Ceasers, Medieval, Renaissance times. Where food and spices come from and the trade worked. The photos are great.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? 2/3

Hey Lisa, I just bought a copy of THE ALCHEMIST  last Saturday at a small bookstore in our town.  I am looking forward to reading it!

Right now I am reading PEGASUS DESCENDING by James Lee Burke. It is one of a series with a character called Dave Robicheaux, a dectective in a small town near New Orleans.  I read TIN ROOF BLOWDOWN a few months back by the same author which I believe is the latest Dave Robincheaux novel in the series.  Can't say that they are books you can't put down, but something about them keeps my interest.

I finished FIRST TO DIE by James Patterson and look forward to reading more of his books.  I have a copy of BEACH ROAD.  I'm sure many of you have read it.  Any comments you'd like to share?

We have a winter storm warning here in Western Missouri tonight.  It was thundering and lightening here this morning and now the rain is starting to turn to sleet.  I'm ready for Spring!

Hi everyone, havent been on for a couple weeks.  Was sick for a week or so and when I would finally go home from work I would just fall over asleep and now I am so behind on my reading.  Have books that are past due at library.  Did finish Patterson, Double Cross.  I have liked all of his books.

Grammywv thanks for the heads up on the WEDNESDAY LETTER, that is my kind of book and I will try to get it next at the library.  Reminds me of Bridges of Madison County which was a great book and one of  my favorite movies.

I have started the D book by Sue grafton but only a few pages in.

Hope everyone is having a great day, it is almost 70 hear to day but it won't last long.

    hi all

I just left a message on the main board because I had the worst time finding you all again. I havn't been on here in nearly a year and I'm trying to find a lady who's from Florida, she mailed me a book to borrow and I still have it after nearly a year. I want to return it but I forget her screen name. The book is Chocolate Puppy Puzzle by Jpanna Carl.

My book collection is now at 119 and counting. will be getting added too in a few weeks as I'm picking up a few new ones for my bus trip to Cali.

Happy Reading and let me know if you're the lady with the missing book

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? 2/3

Morning everyone.   Have been under the weather since Sunday, mostly been doing some knitting, not much reading.    I finished WHERE THE HEART IS, I enjoyed it, and by coincidence was flipping through the channels the other night and saw it had been made into a movie.    I've only got one book left in my stash BROKEN AS THINGS ARE (Witt), so maybe after I go to the gym today I will stop by the library.    Will be making cookies next week, so not sure how much reading I'll be getting done.

Nasty weather here in NH today, need to get Jake back and forth to school then decide if we will visit my parents.

    Have a good day.
