Tammy, THE HORIZON COOKBOOK sounds fascinating! I'll have to look for that one. Can't have too many cookbooks, after all!

I'm almost finished with A HISTORY OF THE WIFE (Marilyn Yalom). It has been really interesting but somehow I'm having a hard time finishing it up -- keep getting distracted by other books! Does anybody else have that problem?

I finished REDEEMING LOVE by Francine Rivers and it was great. It was not a GrannyB book just because of the subject -- a woman who is sold into prostitution and the man who loves her against her will. It's a retelling of the Biblical story of Hosea, set in California during the gold rush days of the 1850's. Very compelling and moving story.

I've also started AUNT DIMITY TAKES A HOLIDAY (Nancy Atherton). Always a nice light read that I enjoy.

Okay, I guess this is why I'm not finishing up my non-fiction book! LOL

Also, I have waiting to be read 90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN by Don Piper. Have any of y'all read this? Our pastor read it and recommended it, and we have a copy that is circulating among our church members. I'll read it and then pass it on to someone else.

After the terrible storms last night, we're supposed to get colder weather. Saturday looks like it will be a cold, rainy/snowy day -- perfect for snuggling up with a good book and a cup of tea!

pigy - I hope you are feeling better.  I hope all the people who might live in the areas where the tornadoes touched down are alright.  Here it is February and we are having a large amount of rain and thunderstorms.  We had an unusually dry summer last year and now all this rain.  My backyard is one big lake/  The weather is supposed to turn much colder again after today.

 I am still reading THE QUEST by Wilbur Smith until the library calls with something else for me to read.  You have to pay such close attention to this book and it is such small print.

Georgia - I'm about half way thru THE ALCHEMIST and I really like it. Its a little different than what I usually read. I hope you enjoy it!

Marion - I'm really looking forward to MEMORY KEEPERS DAUGHTER. My bf has twins, so I'm interested in that aspect of the book!

JOLENE:  I hope you are feeling better.  Today in NJ the weather is pretty mild, but a little rainy.  Just got back from Wayne and the triplets.  Managed last night to finish TELL ME NO LIES, Joy Fielding.  Coincidentally, Jolene, I was thinking of you when I finished the book.  IMHO, of all the Fielding books I have read, the above-mentioned is second only to WHISPERS AND LIES.  I remember your remark after having read DON'T CRY NOW, followed by WHISPERS AND LIES.  You said W & L blew DON'T CRY NOW right out of the water.  TELL ME NO LIES is second best.  I am very proud of myself for having surmised most of the ending.  If you have not read it or if you do so in the future, I would LOVE to hear your reaction.

I envy those of you who have gotten T IS FOR TRESPASS.  My girlfriend promises to lend it to me.  Grisham's THE APPEAL sounds good, too.  Now I am going to get back to Diane Mott Davidson's DARK TORT.

I've enjoyed everyone's posts, especially hearing from"newcomers."  Welcome!  (The "weather reports" from around the country are interesting, too.)  Mary Kay

Morning   :)    I had left the book I started, BROKEN AS THINGS ARE, in the car and Tim took it to work with him, so last night I started STEVE & ME (Irwin).    I smiled from the very first page.     He was just such a huge guy, so full of life.     Thanks to Micki for recommending the book, I know I'm going to enjoy it.


Mary Kay, I'm feeling a bit better, thanks  :)   I'm just glad this round skipped Jake!    Wish I'd seen your post yesterday when I went to the library, would have grabbed the Fielding book.   It's on the list, thank you!

Jolene - Is THE QUIET GAME a new book by Greg Iles??  I was wondering what ever happened to Vette 75,  she used to be on the old board every once in a while.  Hope you are feeling much better today.  They say the flu is on the rise and hope everyone stays well.

The book LIGHT OF THE MOON  by LuAnne Rice was a good book and an easy read.

Our weather here in W PA has turned to much colder.  I think the temp dropped more than 20 degrees over night and we have a light dusting of snow.  Many places have flooding with all the rain we had the past few days.

Hi Margaret!   I checked the inside cover and it's from 1999.   I had picked up TURNING ANGEL to read, but then saw on Amazon or someplace that the main character originated from THE QUIET GAME, so I wanted to read this one first.      He also shows up in a smaller role in SLEEP NO MORE, which I also haven't read.

The site also lists a Frances Iles, keep meaning to check if they are related.

Jolene - Thanks for posting all of Greg Iles books.  I don't think our library got some of the earlier ones.  Now I will be able to request from another library.

Going to visit my three great grandsons this afternoon.  The latest one is just three weeks old.

Finished T IS FOR TRESPASS today.  Of the Kinsey Millhone books, this one is in my top favs.  I liked the description of Kinsey the other character gives; I can't recall from the other books being given a better picture of what Kinsey Millhone looks like.

Not sure what book is next, will pick something out before the end of the day.

I finished THE APPEAL, did not expect it to turn out the way it did at all.  Can't say I liked the ending but it was a good book.  Next up THE CHOICE.

I finished Bungalow 2 by Danielle Steel. It was a little slow in places, but the last 40 or so pages grabbed me. I am now reading Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchley.

 I live in NW Ohio where there is a lot of flooding. It's unusual for this time of the year.
