Heath Bar Cake-Ooooh, you gotta try this one! Check out the picture

URL to the picture of this fabulous cake is at the bottom

I found this recipe actually on a "pop" culture website that I visit sometimes. I didn't even realize that they had a "food" section until I was just bored one night and ran across it. Anyway, the picture of this cake looks yummo, so I stuck the recipe up until I had a reason to make it. Using a boxed mix, it came together quickly and is just delicious. You have GOT to check this picture out....and the cake looks just like that! :)

    Heath Bar Cake

A Heath bar is a thin slab of English toffee covered with smooth milk chocolate. Made with a boxed cake mix, this dessert comes together in no time and can be masterfully assembled by any inexperienced cook. With layers of sweetened condensed milk, creamy caramel sauce, and clouds of pillowy whipped cream topped off with chunks of the classic Heath candy bar, this is one recipe that you have to try. Take a look at just how easy it is, read more

1 box of German chocolate cake mix
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 bottle or jar of caramel
    1 tub of Cool Whip
4 Heath or Skor bars, crushed

Bake cake as directed according to box.

Poke holes about the size of a pencil all over the top of the cake.

Drizzle the milk and caramel over the cake, making a thin layer.

Refrigerate until completely cool. Cover with Cool Whip. Sprinkle the Heath or Skor bars.

    Serves 8-10.

PartySugar's Notes: Instead of using cool whip (I felt guilty about making a cake from a box) I made whipped cream. Beat 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream with 1 tablespoon vanilla, and 2 heaping tablespoons powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. I also used one extra Heath bar.

Star, Isn't this just yummy!!   I have been making this for years.  First found it in a community cookbook as "Better than Sex Cake"... wanted to find another name for it.. and renamed it when my brother's gf had such a quite vocal reaction to it that we named it "Ecstasy Cake".  One of DDIL's requests this for her birthday every year!  lol

Can use butterscotch topping also. :)  And although the recipe calls for 4 candy bars... I use 6. lol

Do you mix the milk and caramel together before?  Cool cake or do it warm?

    What size candy bars?

I poke the holes with the end of a wooden spoon that I sprayed with Pam.

I cool cake about 15 minutes before poking.

Pour milk into holes.  Let absorb for a few minutes.  Then pour caramel sauce into holes.

I use toffee chips instead of candy bars.  Candy bars don't last in my house.

Hoep this helps.  This is a favorite at our house.

You pour them over individually.  Poke holes in cake and pour one then the other.  I do this part warm.  BUT MAKE SURE COOL WHEN PUT ON THE COOL WHIP!  lol

They are the  regular size bars.. don't know how many oz... but the regular size one.  :)

I've always called it the same as Marcia.  And it is as good as the picture looks!  My next task it to try to make it with the low sugar cake mix, the sugar free caramel sauce and sugar free cool whip.  Then I'll be back in heaven!

Thank you for all the nice comments. I didn't realize this was the same cake as the one that I've seen recipes around for forever....Especially thank you to Alliea for bringing the picture over here. Pictures really enhance the recipe so much!
