Bread Pork Steaks With Mashed Potato Flakes?

Would you do it? And if so, how? We haven't had mashed potato flakes in the house in close to 20 years (Diana doesn't like them made up as mashed potatoes). I bought a box recently for me to try because they seem to have a lower glycemic index than real potatoes. I've heard of using them as breading, but never tried it. What do you dip your meats in first when you use them as breading? Do you season the potatoes?

That was quick zakons! Thank you. Have you tried these? I don't have the garlic mashed, but I can surely add some granulated garlic to the ones that I have.

Yum! That chicken looks good too. Thanks for sending both recipes my way. Right now all of my recipe files are inaccessable on my laptop that's quit working on me.

I think that chicken is asking for either some BBQ or Taco seasoning added to the flakes. :-)

I've done the crisp oven-fried chicken, John.  It was quite tasty.
I wouldn't hesitate to try it with pork.
Hope all is well in the north country.

They are wonderful. I get the Idahoan brand roasted garlic potato mix, like a single serving size. I think the recipe calls for one egg beaten with 2 T. milk. You dip them in the  egg mixture then the bread crumbs, then bake at 400 for 45 minutes (or if they are thick usually a few minutes longer. They are sooo moist and wonderful. But not sure if it would elevate your sugar a lot or not.

I use them as breading sometimes on my Cube Steaks and I also mix Parmesan cheese with them when I use them as a breading.
