Wilted Flower Good Monday Morning, Everyone!!!  Wilted Flower

Wilted Flower Yesterday AM, I noticed the food in the big freezer was thawing.  We moved some food outside and buried it in the snow, saved what meat I could, but we lost alot of food. Most of my meat is in the smaller freezer, so most of that was saved.  Ron unplugged the freezer for awhile and started it back up and lo and behold, the freezer seemed to be okay.  I don't know if somehow, the freezer door didn't close right or what happened.  There still isn't food in the big freezer as we are watching it to see how it is and then have to call a repairman.  I really don't want to buy another freezer...

Wilted Flower  Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes!!! The kids came yesterday afternoon and we ate all afternoon. DD brought a beautiful fruit platter, a huge cheesecake and lots of snacks and a veggie tray!!! Since I quit smoking, I am tring to replace the bad habit, with some good ones and the kids thought I needed a hobby.  So they got me all kinds of neat scrapbooking supplies and a real neat case to put everything in.  I have alot of pictures and things the kids made, that I saved and would really lilke to put all this into a scrapbook.  I also have alot of pictures that Mom had of relatives that should be saved too.  I am so excited about the card making and looking forward to tring my hand at that.  They laughed when I said, if I started now, I could make my Christmas cards...LOL

Wilted Flower  Hauke, I don't think I did too well this week with the diet.  I had a harder time with the munching and snacking. Once, I can get outside more, I think that will help alot.  I feel so slug like.

Wilted Flower  Wishing you ALL a GREAT Monday!!!

    Wilted Flower  Hugs,

    Wilted Flower  Mary

    Hauke - Good morning.

Mary - It sounds like you had a very nice birthday.  I'm glad you realized the freezer problem before you lost all the meat, especially since you recently bought all that beef.  I hope it is a cheap repair.

We got up to 67 degrees yesterday and then they are predicting ice tonight.

Morning ....  we're off to a slow Monday here in the DC... or did everyone sleep in?  LOL

Mary, I'm sure glad you weren't too busy celebrating to notice your freezer acting wonky!   So on this weekend we're actually thankful to have the snow or you would have had serious problems if this were the middle of July.  Sure hope it's an easy and cheap fix!

Joyce, these temp highs and lows are so hard to keep up with.  that's a 35-40 degree drop in a few hours.  Hope you left for work with a warm coat, sounds like you might need it by the time you head home.

Well, - today is election day here.  The predictions are that the government won't change too much - guess there's just not enough liberals that have moved to Alberta.  LOL  Oh I'm sure certain districts will have changes... but our system is decided by which ever party gets the most votes, that party leader becomes the premier.  Sometimes I wished we could vote for the "government" as per the party and then elect the premier as per the person... like you elect your president.  But alas, not here.  So I don't foresee a major change from people voting for the party that's been in power since the 60's or so... What they stand for is what I believe in - although I'll admit I'm not thrilled with the current leader of the party - he's not very "polished" by politician standards so he doesn't always make the best speech maker nor impression to the world - but I do agree with his politics.  When the party elected their new leader in 2006, both Rebecca and I were party delegates and we voted in the leader election.  Our choice on that date did not get elected as leader, but that doesn't mean that I won't support the party in todays election.

See - elections don't have to last for months and years - one month from start to finish.  By next Monday all the political signage has to be removed from the streets and bill boards - that's the law here - so we have to deal with the commercials, ads, signs, etc for 5 weeks maximum.  There is something to be said for this system.  LOL

Well, I have lots to do today... so I better get the day started.

    Good morning, everyone.

From nice temps yesterday to rain and 34 degrees---it's getting colder as the rain keeps falling. But, it did wash lots of dirty snow away here at DD#2's in IL.

MARY, just having the kids over for your birthday is fun, but all those goodies made it even more special. Glad you discovered the freezer problem. Two years ago we lost our whole venison supply from a freezer that went kaput. I do a little scrapbooking, and I make some of my own cards, too. But, I am not avid about it and just do it once in a while. My DD#2 and DGD like it, too. So, today I am going to buy them a Cricut machine to use in their scrapbooking.

JOYCE, looks like the weather is goofy all over. Same thing happening here. I talked to Laura but didn't ask her about our WI weather. But, I'll tell you I am glad I brought my winter jacket with me. I haven't checked the photo of the day thread lately, so I'll ask you if you have been contributing to it everyday? Some of the pics are clever and cute.

HAUKE, I see you are really into the politics arena. I read about ours, but I am not too active in any activities. Seeing you mentioned a leader not good at speeches, how about our George W?  And, yes, we will be happy to get rid of the ads all over, plus we get phone calls for support, too? And the calls are all recordings----many times my answer is the click of my phone, hanging up.

Russell, Bradley and SIL Bob are out on a guy's shopping trip. Probably to hardware stores and Bass Pro Shop. We girls will be going after lunch.

Have a good day, my friends.

Hauke - I didn't bring a heavy coat, but I do have a jacket with me.  I don't think the colder weather is to come in until later this evening, so I think I'll be okay.  I hope the elections go as you want them to, even though you say it shouldn't bring much change.  I wish our elections happened as fast as yours.  We don't even vote until November and I'm tired of the political ads already.

Nancy - I'm glad the rain has washed away some snow at DD's place.  Hopefully some of your WI snow will be gone by the time you get home.  I haven't been participating in the photo challenge lately.  Some days I can't find anything and other days by the time I get home and get a picture taken, not many people check it.  So I just haven't done it.  I do enjoy looking at everybody else's photos though.  Enjoy your lunch out today.

Wilted Flower  I wanted to say thank you to all of you who send me a card and wished me a Happy Birthday!!!  I got alot of cards and they are all so pretty!!!

Big Smile  We got up to 61 degree's today and the snow melted in the driveway!!! We sat on the front porch a little today and it felt so nice!!!!  We still have alot of snow to melt, but with the rain coming, it will melt fast....then we will have to clean up the yard!!!!

Big Smile  Nancy, I just didn't know where to start with the scrapbooking things...LOL Kinda overwhelmed I guess!!!  I guess I better just start gathering up pictures and sorting and go from there.  The kids got me a small album set, so it won't be too overwhelming just starting out.  My oldest DD, is very good at scapbooking and stamping....with me it is just getting started..LOL

Big Smile Doris and Marge, if you check in, I hope everything is going okay for you!!!!

Big Smile Thank you again, for the beautiful cards!!!!

    Hugs,

Hello gang!!  Will the unruly weather ever stop soon??  lol, when we went south in the valley to my Mom's 95th birthday, it was around 70, we wore no sweaters, short sleeves were the order of the day, could sit outside and enjoy sunshine.   Come home and it's 25, it's back to sweat pants and sweater inside the house, heavy shoes outside.  Our snow is melting, but more is due this weekend.

I got a perm last week, haven't had one in over a year.  It was at our local, sort of old fashioned hair place, I had never been inside it in the over 25 yrs we have lived in this small mountain town.  There were 3 tiny hairdresser stations, with hair wash bowls from 1960, the place was a tinder box, inside an old wooden building, plugs for hair dryers had a whole bunch of stuff plugged into them, more than you should have.  lol   Well, at least it was done, and dh could just leave me there and pick me up later so he didn't have to stay and wait, he just can't wait anymore in the shape he is in.

Hauke, that's funny that your aunt and uncle have a 60th anniversary, my aunt and uncle have a party coming up too on April 26 for their 60th.  It's fun to see relatives from a long time ago that you only knew since you were a child.

Waving to all of you guys!!!  I'm pooped, we got home late last night, and I'm still trying to catch up.

    Doris
