Now, what can I make with white and yellow cake mixes?

Thanks to everyone who replied with recipes for chocolate cake mixes. I'm going to try each one. So far I tried the sheet pan brownie and it was so delicious. I put it in the pan and it looked like the pan was too big , so I made another box and added it to the pan. They were very thick and good, moist. I didn't know how long to bake a double box so I kept testing it. I think they baked about 50 minutes. Was that too long? Thanks again. Mary

    Try this:  Yum Yum Bars

    1 box yellow cake mix

    1 egg

1/4 lb. butter (margarine works fine)

    1 lb. powdered sugar

    1 tsp. vanilla

    8 oz. cream cheese

    2 eggs, beaten

    1  1/2 c. chopped pecans

Mix cake mix with butter and an egg; press into a lightly greased sided cookie sheet (jelly roll pan).  Combine remaining ingredients; mix well, then pour over cake layer.  Bake at 325degrees F for 30 - 35 minutes.  Watch to make sure sides don't burn.  Cool and cut into bars.

I intend to try this with a chocolate cake mix someday.  Has anyone tried that?

    Topping:

1 can(16-oz) Creamy supreme lemon frosting

Prepare the cake mix as directed. Using the water, oil, and egg whites.
Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan. Drop the pie filling by the heaping teaspoonfuls evenly onto the batter. Bake for 30-40 minutes at 350.

    Allow the cake to cool.

Combine the frosting and cool whip, blend well and spread over the cooled cake.

I have, also made this with a strawberry cake mix, strawberry pie filling, strawberry frosting with strawberry Cool Whip.   Both are excellent recipes..

    Lemon Lemon Cake

    White cake mix

    1 box lemon jello

    lemon pie filling

    Cool Whip

Make cake in a 9x13 pan according to pkg directions.  Mix jello powder with 1 cup boiling water and when dissolved, add 1/2 cup cold water.  Poke holes all over baked cake with a fork and pour jello mixture over the cake while it is still warm.  Allow cake to cool (this can be done in the fridge).  Once cool, spread the lemon pie filling over cake and top with Cool Whip.  Store cake in the fridge.

    Fruit Buckle

    1 white cake mix

    1 1/2 sticks margarine, melted

    1 can pie filling

Grease 9 x 13 pan.  Spread pie filling in pan.  Top with dry cake mix.  Drizzle margarine over the top of cake mix.  Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes.

You can also mix the cake mix with the margarine and then spoon on top of the pie filling.

Very good with blueberry or cherry.

I made the YUM YUM BARS and got rave reviews from our Ladies Study group. I intend to do it with a chocolate cake mix and maybe coconut next time.

    Thank you MATHMOMMA!

I love this cake and it is so easy to make.  You can substitute the glaze for whipped topping with fruit.

    Rum Cake

    1 pkg yellow cake mix
1 pkg instant vanilla pudding mix
    4 eggs
    1/2 c salad oil
    1/2 c water
    1/2 c rum
    1/2 c chopped pecans
    Glaze (recipe below)

Mix ingredients through rum about 2 min. Combining well. Arrange pecans on bottom of greased tube or bundt pan. Pour in batter and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven and pierce thoroughly with toothpick. Immediately pour glaze over top. Cool completely before removing cake from pan.

    Glaze

    1/4 lb butter
    1 c sugar
    1/4 c water
    1 oz rum

Boil butter, sugar and water for 1 min. Remove from heat and add rum.

I have made these bars and gotten rave reviews each time.

    CAN'T-LEAVE-ALONE BARS

    1 box white cake mix

    2 eggs

    1/3 cup oil

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

    1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan (or line with Release Foil).  Beat cake mix, eggs and oil in a large bowl with mixer until blended.  Press 2/3 of mixture into the pan.  Microwave condensed milk, chocolate chips and butter in a bowl on high  1 minute or until mixture is smooth when stirred,  Pour over crust.  Top with teaspoonfuls of reserved cake mixture.  Bake 20-35 minutes until lightly browned.  Cool;  cut into 48 bars.
