Hi Healthy Ones!
(((Jolene))) Hope all is going well for you!
(((Dusta))), sending hugs to you as well. That scale is just being quite contrary. You are so dedicated....hang in there and it will happen. Sorry you had a downer and cried. :( Us women just have to have a good cry sometimes so that is no biggie! :) Have fun in MS. Yippee! I am planning on going to Mom's next Wednesday(Lord Willing). Sorry yours has been a grouch. Wonder if is maybe some of her meds? You never know.
Debbie, Eeek on having to heat up pots of water. Hope a new hot water heater isn't too expensive.
Dawn, LOL on the PB on the Oatmeal cookie! See, I am a good influence- only want the best for you!lol It is good on chocolate chip cookies too(shhh, don't tell anyone!:) I don't have any chocolate chip ones in the house so should be able to resist that urge.lol DH is in the mood for burgers today so wondering if I want an open faced one with 1/2 Ezekial bun(toasted) with grilled onions on top or just a burger without the bun with onions. Decisions, decisons.
Welcome xylwb, klcurry, and Christina! Please feel free to join our group weekly post here to get much more feedback! :)
Christina, I try to get in pilates 2-3X per week and cardio 2X per week. Since I am a part- time Girl Friday for a sweet elderly lady, I am challenged to squeeze it in and manage to get my pilates in either late in the evening or early morning on those days. I do the cardio workouts on my days off unless I have too much else to do. I have lots of videos and dvds with simple cardio workouts with prevention and Denise Austin to choose from and usually use one that is about 30 minutes long so it is very do-able and low impact too. If you want advice on which ones I use just yell. I created my own pilate routine but there are dvds with pilate workouts as well. I love yoga but can't find the time to do it as often as I like. I think it is important to stay flexible and to me the pilates is more important than the cardio but I think it is good to keep the heart pumped up too. :)
I eat lots of real foods like fresh fruit and veggies, salads(usually with my evening meal), whole grain pastas or bread, lean proteins(mostly fish or chicken, sometimes eggs, (sometimes beef but rarely)- NO PORK- just decided to give it up a few years ago. For my fat choices I try to use mainly EVOO, but also use real butter sparingly- I also love nuts(mostly pecans, almonds or walnuts- in moderate amounts-no more than 2 TBS. at a time.). I try to limit my cheese to small amounts of feta or mozzarella but do have a grilled cheese with real butter on Ezekial bread with real cheddar cheese occasionally. I DON'T use artificial sweetners- I use honey in my hot tea if I need it. Think Mediterranean Lifestyle eating plan- that's my goal. :)
I have a time in the evening when I have a little special treat- maybe one cookie with a cup of hot tea and just savor it. Kathyf shared that about herself once and I hooked onto it! It works! It is great and you have that to look forward too. Just make sure you don't consume 1/2 dozen of cookies.lol Keep things in perspective- just say, it is this one cookie and it is all I need. :) Eat it slowly. :) Sometimes, I just have a cup of tea. :)
Occasionally I may have a scoop of ice cream and there are times I will have a slice of delectable cheesecake. I don't deprive myself. :) But, I don't eat sweets all the time. :)
Hope this helps a little for the new comers! I am sure others have their ideas as well to share!
Oh yeah, I usually consume at least 10 glasses of water per day- WATER is a must to control your wt. and just to stay healthy in general. Look at it this way, do you want stagnant water running through your veins, etc? If not, move around(exercise) and replenish your water supply. It will help flush out the toxins and fat and you will feel better!
Ok, I have written a mini novel here.lol
Hugs to all,
~Muril~
