Oh yes! Let me tell you about my introduction to chocolate covered coffee beans. This would have been close to 20 years ago, when I lived in San Diego. A coworker left a container of them in the lunchroom. I tried one, fully expecting it to be bitter. But it wasn't--and I was intrigued. The lady who'd brought them in eventually noticed that I was the only person nibbling at them and suggested I take them home. Which I did.
My husband is even more of a coffee addict than I, and he was hooked right away. Soon were were calling around town trying to track down more. We only found one place that sold them, and it already had a resident addict, so we had to find out what day they were delivered and try to beat him there, or he'd buy all they got in.
Well, liking them so much, we brought a bag of them to a dinner party at my mom's house. After dinner we all sat around chatting, drinking tea, and eating chocolate covered espresso beans. None of us gave any thought to the fact that it was getting rather late and we weren't getting sleepy. The conversation just got more and more animated until we reached a point of, shall we say, decreased tact. I don't think anyone said anything really out of line, and there weren't actually any arguments, but still the next day we were all calling each other to say we were sorry if we'd been over the top.
Since then, I pay more attention to how many of those little nuggets of caffiene I eat in one sitting.
