ISO Coloring Egg Whites f/deviled eggs

    Does anyone know how to color hard-boiled egg whites before filling with yolk mixture?

    Dena2 had this on the "What's on your Easter menu" thread on the recipe forum.

     

    I have been thinking about Easter too. I will be having Deviled eggs for sure.

     

    This is how i do my eggs. I boiled them of course. And the take the yellow out and with the white only with hot water and a little winger and the food color that you want. Put it in the water with the color and let stand a couple min. are until you get the color you want. Then let dry on rack and then fill. You can do for 4th of July with red and white and blue. Are can do for a baby shower to. I always get a lot of responds when i bring this one.

    Dyed Deviled Eggs (Marbled)

    Put eggs on to boil in stainless pan.
    After boiling 3 minutes, dumpout hot water and add cold water.
    This will cool the eggs enough to behandled.

    Take each egg and tap the outside shell all over with the back of a spoon;
    this will crack the shell like webbing.
    Put eggs back into water and add food coloring of your choice.

    Finish boiling to make hard boiled eggs and let soak in the colored water for while until cool.


    The cracked shells will loosen the them so the eggs will be easy to peel.

    Also, enough colored water penetrated through the cracks so the eggs
     will look marlbled for a different and fun look.

    Dyed deviled eggs...

    Boil and remove the shells from the eggs, THEN color them with egg dyes.

    Once the colors are set, cut the eggs in half and prepare the deviled eggs.

    The egg whites are colored on the outside, yet remaine white on the inside.

    Serve on a plate of shredded lettuce, they will be the hit of any party or Holiday...

    Zacons, will the vinegar that you use with the egg dyes give the white a vinegar taste? This idea sounds great for us, since we like deviled eggs better than hard boiled.

    These are very pretty. I think i will cook my eggs today and color the egg white. But i will do the filling tomorrow. Do you think this would be OK?

    Here is how i do mine.

    You cooked the eggs of course, Then what ever dye  you want add 2/3 cup boiling water and 1/2 teaspoon vinegar and put in the water. It want take to long . If you leave in to long they will get a darker color. And dry on rack and then do your filling. It is easy and fun.

     

    You can do this foe Memorial Day with red and white, Froth of July red white and blue. And even baby showers.

    The way I've done them in the past is I've shelled them, cut them in half and removed the yolk. Then submerge the halves in colored water in a glass dish and soak until they were the desired color.


    Then removed and filled with yolk mixture.

    I dyed them green once and added ham to the yolk to make Green Eggs and Ham.

    For Halloween one year I dyed them red and called them Red Devil Eggs.

    Now for Easter this year I'd like to dye them a variety of different colors and was thinking about using the muffin tins to soak them in. Would the dye stain the muffin tins I'm wondering though?


    Although I guess it wouldn't matter if it did, since I always use those paper liners when I make muffins.
