Oregon Trail Apple Danish Bread "Need Recipe"

Today I found a bread at the store labeled "Oregon Trail Apple Danish Bread" It is a very large loaf and very heavy. The top is covered in a sort of crumble topping. I am would really like to find a recipe for this bread. If anyone knows it, please let me know. Thanks!

Most likely that is a commercial recipe from some large bakery or corporation. They most likely invented the recipe and it may be hard or even impossible to find, even here.

    How large is the loaf?

    How much does it weigh?

What is the name brand? Is it multi grain, whole wheat, white or what?

Sounds like the topping is a litle bit of Streusel or it could be made from oat bran, butter(?) and sugar.

If it has apples in it were they dried apples? (most likely, dried, . fresh apple pieces would make the bread too soggy)

If you read the label and ingredients real carefully it should not be too hard foryou to make a bread very similar to that by experimenting a little bit.

I am curious, do you live in Oregon?

I found it at an IGA grocery store and I also loved it. Not sure where you would find it in Portland. Good luck.

I found this on cooks.com. Does it sound like it would be close? Sounds good anyway if it isn't close.

    DANISH APPLE COFFEE CAKE

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes 2.

Soften 1 packet Red Start Special Active Dry Yeast (or 1 cake Red Star Compressed Yeast) in 1/4 cup warm water.

    Combine:

    2 3/4 c. Pillsbury's Best All-Purpose Flour
    1 tsp. salt
    In mixing bowl.

Cut in 1/2 cup Land O' Lakes Butter until particles are fine.

    Add:

    1/2 c. dairy sour cream
    2 unbeaten eggs
    Softened yeast
Mix to form a dough. Cover. Chill at least 2 hours.

    Combine:

    1 c. sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons on rolling surface.

Roll out dough, half at a time, to a 12x8 inch rectangle. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar-cinnamon mixture. Fold in half. Repeat rolling and folding 2 more times, adding sugar-cinnamon as necessary. Roll out again.

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon bread crumbs down center third of rectangle. Place half of Filling over crumbs. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon bread crumbs; dot with Land O' Lakes Butter.

Fold one side of dough over Filling, then fold opposite side to overlap. Seal edges. Place, seam side up, on greased cookie sheet. Make deep diagonal slashes across top about 3 inches apart and to within 1/2 inch of edge.

Let rise in warm place (85 to 90 degrees F.) until light, 30 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.

For use with Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, omit salt.

    APPLE FILLING:
Drain 1 can (1 pound 4 ounce) pie sliced apples on absorbent paper. Just before placing on dough, combine with:
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg

You can get the bread from Sam's Club or Costco.  I had the pleasure of having it at a women's retreat for breakfast and absolutely fell in love with it.  Of course the Sam's club near me stopped selling it and I was looking for it which is kind of how I found this article.  It was $4.17 a loaf but so worth it.  It was absolutely scrumptious with butter.

Does anyone have a package from the bread?

    Does it list the ingredients?

Maybe we could put together a recipe from the ingredient list....
