Please Help Get Back a Recipe for Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake

I used to have a recipe for a duplicate version of the Entenmann's Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake.  But, because of a devastating house fire 4 years ago, we lost some of our recipes.  Does anyone have a similar recipe.

I found this recipe for you. It isn't Entenmann's though, but it might still be good.

    Rosemary

    Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake

       Topping:
       1/3 cup packed brown sugar
       1 tbsp flour
2 tbsp butter or regular margarine, softened
       1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups (12 oz.) mini semisweet chocolate chips, divided
       Cake:
       1 3/4 cups flour
       1 tsp baking powder
       1 tsp baking soda
       1/4 tsp salt
       3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or regular margarine, softened
       1 tsp vanilla extract
       3 large eggs
       1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.  For the topping:
Combine brown sugar, flour, and butter in a small bowl with a pastry blender or
two knives until the mixture is crumbly.  Stir in the nuts and 1/2 cup morsels.
For the cake:  Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a
small bowl.  Beat in the granulated sugar, butter, and vanilla extract in a
large mixer bowl until creamy.  Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after
each addition.  Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with the sour cream.
Fold in the remaining morsels.  Spread into the prepared baking dish.  Sprinkle
with the topping.  Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick
inserted into the center comes out clean.  Cool well on a wire rack.  Yield: 12
    servings

    Hi Holly,

Yes, I would be interested in getting your recipe also.  Thank you.  I also have a recipe for a really good sour cream coffee cake if anyone is interested.

House fires are very sad, especially when you lose a loved one.  I lost my dad.

Yes, LI does mean Long Island.  I live in Westbury.  Where are you from?

Re: Please Help Get Back a Recipe for Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake

Hi Brigitte ~ So sorry I'm late in responding to you. Wow, Westbury. We lived in North Merrick, just up the road, basically. I was so sorry to hear about your Dad. Mine is gone many yrs. now and I think of him often,of course.

Here is the Crumb Cake recipe that I've got. I call it a cheater reciipe as you start with a cake mix.

1 box of yellow cake mix, I use Pillsbury Plus

Follow directions on the box. Pour into a greased 13" x 9" pan. Bake for 25 minutes.

While cake is baking, prepare the crumb mixture.

    Combine:

2/3 cup of sugar                               2 cups of flour

2 teaspoons of cinnamon                  1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

Melt 2 sticks of margarine, add 2 teaspoons of vanilla. Add the margarine/vanilla mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix well. Mixture will be moist.

Remove cake after it has baked the 25 min., and just crumble the crumb mixture all over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes more, or until crumbs appear done. Cool completely and dust with powdered sugar.Sometimes I've also added some chocolate chips to the crumbs. Let me know what you think about this. It does not last too long, and I made a mistake recently and added a bit more flour and it gave the crumbs a crisper taste. Play around and see.

Again, so sorry I did not get back to you sooner.  Get ready for some more rain up there, I'm sending it your way!

Take care and have s super day.  ~ Holly
