Re: HL Topic of the Week 3/17 to 3/23 How Safe is your city's water?

Happy Easter everyone!    Jake slept in a little, til 7, and we've found all the plastic eggs and also dissected the Easter Basket.  Since the nut thing makes candy a nightmare, we got him mostly small toys, like Playdoh, a set of pads/gloves for bike riding, an I Spy book, magnifying glass, etc.    He loved everything.

In a little bit, I'll make some "Jello beans", and a double layer pineapple upside down cake.    We'll also be having ham, red potatoes (maybe mashed, maybe roasted, haven't decided), corn, and broccoli.      The best part about it being just the 3 of us is that we'll probably eat in our pjs  :)      Later we'll go out for a ride, and find someplace that he can ride his bike.

Dusta, hope you slept better last night!    What a long time to have to go without eating, but good for you for resisting stuff that you didn't want to eat.    I used to keep a granola bar or Nutrigrain bar in my backpack for emergencies like that.   Very interesting about the Star Spangled banner on the base, I know it drives me nuts when people chat and yak through it when it's played at baseball games, etc.      Glad you are enjoying the Picoult book, I finished THE PACT, not my favorite but it was pretty good.    A lot of her stories take place in and around NH, I love that.

Muril, welcome back!    Glad that you had a nice trip   :)     Sound like you did great with your eating!    And your menu for today sounds delicious, Tim loves Key Lime pie, especially the MC ones.   Yes, we are lucky, my parents started taking Jake once a month back in September, so Tim and I could have some couple time, and now it's about every other week.    Even if we don't have the most romantic dates ever (yesterday we had lunch and shopped for a new modem), it gives me time to decompress and breathe.

Betsy,  I hope the kids have a fun day today   :)   What kind of cheesecake did you make?   I wanted to do cheesecake, but Jake and Tim will enjoy the pineapple upside down cake more, I think.    The kids will love Rockband!   Tim's off Guitar Hero for now, he's been playing Call of Duty with a bunch of guys from work.     LOL     Nice that you do Easter dinner late, that's how I'd do Christmas if I had a choice!

    Ginny, have a wonderful trip!

Jen, you look gorgeous!    Way to go on having to have the dress taken in   :)    Dustin's socks are going to be knocked off   :)

Jet, woo hoo for your teams big win!    I don't follow basketball, but Jake just loves to watch it   :)      What type of bread did you make?    I wish I could make bread from scratch, but I sure love my bread machine   LOL

Ok, way too many jellybeans for Jake for breakfast this morning   :)   Trying to let Tim sleep til at least 11    LOL    Off to make cake!

Good morning. Getting ready to go for Easter lunch at friends house. I talked with her yesterday and she told me some of what we are having, and it is all wonderful. Mel insisted I make a pound cake, with her telling me they had plenty and not to bring anything. He has known her, the daughter, since she was born and he told me to tell her he said not to listen to what Alice said. She will think it is funny.

Jen you look gorgeous and so little.

    Happy Easter.

Jolene the more I read this book the more I like it. I try to guess what is going to happen when I start reading and I have a couple of things in mind. But so far it is very good.

    Happy Easter!

The kids had fun finding the eggs this morning at 7!!!!! Yikes.  They have playing Rockband ever since.  I do not know how they are not hoarse!  Right now DD is the lead singer.  She is 8. LOL.

Oldest dd has to work until 4 so that is why we are eating late. I have to get started with my cooking a bit.

Jolene, it sounds like a fun day for you.  Nice you can spend time with just your family.  I made a plain cheesecake and will serve it with cut up fresh strawberry sauce.  I hope we have room to eat it. LOL.

I am off to start cooking, Hope dd gets out early.

Jolene, yum a double decker pineapple upside down cake sounds great! I opted for a pre-made dessert since we went to church- less hectic. :)  The Easter Musical went great this morning. Glad you had fun on your date day!

We had B'fast at the church this morning and I just ate a banana although most people ate ham biscuits - they also had doughnuts and other fresh fruits, assorted juices and such. The biscuits were homemade- I should have splurged and had one but didn't. One of the ladies is doing the Halalujah Diet and she eats mostly unprocessed foods and is a vegetarain as well. I asked her what she ate and she said a banana and an apple-butter biscuit. :) Not bad. :)   I think they must have made loads of biscuits because I saw a lot of people taking some home after church-hmmm,probably for lunch. :)

I had a snack baggie of grapes and a few pecans coming home from church. Then had a nice protein lunch and now have the turkey breast baking.

Dusta, glad you will have plenty of healthy choices today. You can enjoy and not have to miss a meal. :) Have FUN! :) BTW, did you make the pound cake?

Betsy, we are eating about 5ish too. Thought it would be easier since we went to church and most of the kids sleep in on Sunday as well. ;) Ryan and Crystal are going to Crystal's parents today.  I completely understand. :)  But, our other two sons and our oldest son's GF will be here as well.

I guess I will start the other foods about 4'ish- should have plenty of time.  The pie is thawing in the fridge.

Off to relax and read a little before I get started on the rest of the meal.

    Happy Easter!

    Hugs,

    ~Muril~

Had a nice time today. The house where we ate was new, she moved there in July and this was her first big party. It was beautiful.  Did well on the eating. On the desert I had a few strawberries, one dipped in chocolate and a banana dipped.

Muril I did make the pound cake. I am lazy it was a mix, I use whipping cream for the liquid, the 2 eggs and a stick of butter, almost melted, the real stuff. Mix all this together and bake it likes the package says. It taste like homemade. I know it is so fattening, but I knew I wasn't going to eat it.

Hope you all had a nice day.
