I have a pair of pie birds just like this. Given as a gift from my GKids. When I use a pie bird, it leaves an awfully big hole in the top crust. Not pretty. But, no boil overs.

(Welcome to the board, sheree k!) I must get my pie bird out again. It does, like BonnieRae said, leave a big hole in the center. Big hole or messy oven? I'd rather have the hole!
