    Confused [*-)] Crawling Cake?

I have only used the Butter Pecan Cake Mix /Coconut Pecan frosting and they always turn out great..

This morning I tried the Caramel/ cream cheese combo and it crawled lol.. and sunk in the middle.. but it looks nice when I took it out of the pan and flipped it..

Has anyone else tried this combo and it crawled?  what combo have you tried that has not crawled lol..

I've used the banana cake/dark fudge frosting, strawberry cake/cream cheese frosting and orange cake/cream cheese frosting combinations and they've all turned out nicely. Don't ask me to pick a favorite either. I love them all and can't have any of them anymore.

Mattie, I've used the Caramel cake mix with Caramel frosting or Coconut Pecan, and it did fine.  I'm having a hard time finding the Caramel frosting right now, even though D.H. still makes it.  I've been fortunate not to have one "crawl" yet, but I have had other cakes sink in the middle like yours did.  Hate that, but they usually taste the best for some reason.  Go figure. :)

    Re: Crawling Cake?

I have made orange cake with chocolate frosting.

chocolate cake with cream cheeese frosting

    white cake with carmel frosting

chocolate cake with strawberry frosting and the other way around as well

Red velvet cake with white frosting

any kind of cake and icing will work  and any flavors you can think up works, I like Duncan Hines the  cake mix best for this.

I do not put all the frosting in the cake I save some to glaze the cake with and never bring any home when I take it  some where

I think I used to get it in Pillsbury, and I know Betty Crocker had it at one time.  I'll talk to a store manager and see if they will get some in.  You'd think with stocking the Caramel cake mix, they would have the frosting, too.   Glad your cake turned out for you. Sounds delicious.

I liked reading the response about using orange cake mix with the chocolate frosting.  DH and I love orange sherbet/vanilla ice-cream topped with homemade fudge sauce.  Orange and chocolate always go well together.  How was it in the cake mixture version?

    Thanks

    FROSTING IN THE CAKE.

    Any flavor cake mix.
    Any flavor frosting.

    Mix cake mix with:
    4 eggs
    1 cup milk
    3/4 cup oil

    I mixed mine by hand.

When you add 1 can of frosting, save some for drizzle if you like. I saved about a fifth of a can. Nuke and drizzle over cake when cool.

pour into WELL GREASED 12-cup bundt pan and bake for one hour at 350. A cookie sheet underneath has been strongly suggested!

Cool approx. 10 minutes and remove from pan. Some people say don't use a cake tester; it may cause it to fall.

Do a search on crawling cake, icing in the cake, volcano cake -- you'll have lots of reading!

    Re: Crawling Cake?

There are only two I have made that crawled. One was a red velvet cake/cream cheese frosting combo. The second was a chocolate fudge/chocolate icing one. Even the ones that crawl taste great even though they aren't as pretty. I like the butter pecan combination. I love the German chocolate cake/coconut pecan frosting combination. That one never crawls

Could you use a 9x13 pan if you don't have a bundt pan?

That sounds really good. I'll be watching to see if someone knows if the other pan would work.

I was glad to see the YES!!! the 9x13 pan will work!

I guess the cooking time would be more like a regular cake time?

Thanks. They all sound like great flavors.....
