Good morning! Just popping in. I've been so busy with work, I just come home after work most days and do my homework, get dinner, anything Paige needs done and hit the hay. I did go out tonight (Friday) and it was fun, but back to studying today after I get some shut-eye.

I got moved to a new position at work, one with just minimal lifting, a whole lot better than what I was doing although if someone calls in, I am first in line to sub, but hopefully that won't be too often.

Paige and I both had school break all week, I enjoyed it, but she was rather bored with me working all day, and she turned her ankle on Tuesday night at ball practice, so she has been limping and sore all week, but it is not swollen and not bruised, so that's a good thing but no wonder she was bored.

I miss you all and think of you often.

    Love and hugs to all!

    Good Morning Everyone!!!

Rebecca, I am glad they moved to a position where you are not lifting so much.   Poor Paige with the sprained ankle!!!  I am sure with work and school, you don't have much computer time.  I looked at all the show choir links and thought they were amazing!! Gosh they look like professionals and so peppy!!!

Robin, Congradulations on the new grandson!!! I love the name too.  I am sure Kris is worn out and the kids going to preschool will really help her once the baby comes.  My GK's go to day care, while DD works, and they love it. They really keep the kids busy and they seem to learn alot. The chicken corn soup is good.

Well, I gotta get a move on and get Mom up....maybe after another cup of coffee!! Hee hee!! I guess I will try to take her to Walmart today to get her hair done. If not today, tomorrow for sure.

Nancy - I've thought about cutting my own hair, but I know I would do a bad job.  For my flags, I had one holder on the corner of my house but that must be the windy corner of the house, so I moved it more to the front of the house, but it still gets caught in the wind.  I have another one a lot further over and that one stays in place.  That's funny that your flag activates the motion detector light.

Mary - I'm glad Ron got the catheter out.  I bet he is glad, too.  I'm concerned about your mother.  Have you thought about taking her to a doctor?  The fact that she is coming up with things that aren't happening is worrisome.  Yes, I'm very glad it is the weekend.

Robin - I'm sure Alexandria will love being the only girl.

Rebecca - I'm glad you went out last night and had a good time.  You deserve some down time.  I'm so glad you got a different work position.  That will be so much better for you.  How are your hands/fingers doing?  I hope Paige's ankle is better.  Poor thing.  Not a way to spend spring break.  It was great to see you again.  Take care of yourself.

Next week at work is going to be hard, I think.  We are short anyway since 2 ladies have already left and then 2 others are out on vacation this next week.  So we will be down to 3 of us.  One that is out next week is the front desk person and she doesn't work on documents, but we will still have to do her job.  I'm scheduled to be out on Wednesday because I'm working next Saturday, so that will only leave 2 of them.  So I'm sure I will be asked to work on Wednesday anyway.

Nothing special planned for me for the weekend.  I had thought about going up to my hometown and having lunch with 2 of my sisters, but I never called them.  There is a new store here that I want to check out.  I may have mentioned it before.  It's called Garden Ridge and they have home things:  linens, decorations, fake plants/flowers, kitchen ware, etc.  And I've heard it is huge, so it sounds like a fun place.  Very similar to another store we have here but it is further away.  I can get to this new store in about 20 minutes.

    Good morning, everyone.

Chilly, but sunny. So, the snow mountains are shrinking and I can see bits of lawn peeking thru the snow covered lawn.

REBECCA, the change at work seems to be better for you. Good healing thoughts for Paige.

MARY, same for me, I need more coffee. Hope the hair-do makes mom feel good, today. Continued feeling good days for Ron.

JOYCE, the new store sounds like my kind of store. I love walking around and seeing new things. And, especially now, when garden and summer items are being displayed. Oh, I think your office will feel a pinch for getting work done. Maybe there will be reorganizing before the new plan even gets into a full swing.

Hi, ROBIN, a prince or a princess, we love them all.

Had a late night visiting and playing dominoes with neighbors. And, today I have to go to the mall, again. Boston Store gives a 20% coupon for each item of clothes donated to the Good Will. And, the coupons can be used on fragrances, this time. So, this is when I buy my Chanel No. 5. Back to Saturday chores and maybe a wash load, too. BBL

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, March 29-30

    Hi Everyone,

Well, I took Mom to Walmart, myself and it went okay.   I didn't really have grocery shopping to do, so I got to look around the store more today. It was fun.  Tring to get ideas for Secret Sister. Splurge on some kitchen gadgets for me...a meat mallet, a server and a gravey ladel.   What I really need is a good paring knife...I lost my Rada paring knife or its lost in a drawer somewhere..  I got the rest of the things I needed to mail Mattie a present.  I got her a book the other week and didn't have a box that fit the book, so my solution was buy her another present....LOL  I got her some skorts and tee's for summer.  She can wear that now since its so hot in Texas!!!

Joyce, I am thinking another stroke or something like that on the way for Mom if this continues. The repeating over and over is another sign too, but she always kinda did that, it is just worse now.  I am still in shock at her behavior.  Last night  I went to the bathroom and left the remote in the middle of the sofa, where I was sitting.  I came back out and there was Mom on the sofa tring to get the remote....I guess she fell down on the sofa and couldn't get back up.  I got under her arm and she tells me to go on the other side....I just said, this side is better for me and I have more room to pull you up.  I wasn't about to climb over the coffee table and stuff when I had more pulling power where I was at.

Nancy, Channel #5 is nice purfume!!  I have Estee Lauder's Beautiful, but I can not really smell it. One of the nurses asked me at the hospital what purfume I had on and thought it smelled nice.  Purfume is another weakness of mine.

It is nice here today.  Cool, but sunny and nice.  Well, I want to email my son, so I shall return later.

    Mary

    Morning.

Rebecca, that is great that you're in line for an upgrade on the job.  Way to go!

Joyce, your next week sounds like it will be a tough one.  I know you so hate having to do the front desk job, so hopefully you won't get stuck there too much.

Mary, I'm worried about your mom?  Alzheimer's?  is that a possibility?  I'm glad you're keeping an eye on her.  How is Ron?

Robin, I am so excited for you!  A boy!  That's great.  How is she feeling?  other than tired?

Nancy, getting that 20% off to get that perfume sounds like a great deal!  I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Well, I'm like Nancy... back to Saturday chores.  I'm trying to find my kitchen.  LOL  I know it's in there somewhere.

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, March 29-30

Saturday greetings dear friends!!  Like Nancy, we are sunny, but still hovering just about freezing.

Rebecca, I'm glad you got a different job at work.  Hopefully, the call-offs will be few and far between.  Wishes for Paige for a speedy recovery from the sprain.  Sure did make her break a bummer.

Mary, how nice that you got to spend some "you" time wandering around Wal Mart.  Something sure is going on with your mom.

Nancy, have fun with the discount shopping.  My mom used to wear Chanel when we were kids.  Hopes for the snow mountains to disappear.  Ours are still pretty high, also, but only patches of snow exist in yards and along the roads.

Joyce, sounds like it could be a hectic work week for you.  Get lots of rest this weekend.  That store sounds neat and also sounds like a nice stroll of sight-seeing.

Work last night was kind of medium busy.  Steady for awhile, but it sure got off to a slow start.  Hoping that more people are out and about today and tomorrow.  My cold continues to linger on at that annoying stage of a cold.  Sure do hope that my days off this coming week help, as I don't have any major plans for them.

Robin, how nice for Kristy and Jeff-another son.  Alexa will for sure be the princess in that house.  Getting the boys into day care will be a big help for her.
    And you also, I think.

Improving health wishes for Marge and Sandy, and waving at Doris, Claudia, Janet and the other lurkers out there.

Nancy - I'm glad your snow is melting.  I didn't make it to the home store today so I'm hoping to make it tomorrow.  I think the office will go through a lot of changes when the day shift is gone.  I bet you had a good time with the neighbors last night.  That's great that you get a coupon when you donate to Goodwill and you are able to use it on your perfume.

Mary - I hope you can call your mother's doctor and describe what is going on with her.  He might want to see her if he thinks she has had another stroke.  I'm sure Mattie will love her package that sent her.

Hauke - You are right, I don't like doing the front desk duty, but since we are so short staffed I think we will just log work in and out as is needed so hopefully nobody will stuck sitting there an entire day.  I hope you got some chores done today and you have a sense of accomplishment.

Deb - Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing this store.  A co-worker said it was fun going through it.  I hope your shift tonight is busy so it will go fast for you and then you can go home and rest.

I had said I wasn't going up north today, but about 8;30 one sister called and asked if I was coming up.  So I did.  And I'm glad I did.  We had a nice time, but we always do when we get together.  The lunch was really good.  It was fried tenderloin sandwiches that are HUGE and then we also had fried cauliflower.  I know, REALLY bad, but it was so good.  And none of it was greasy at all, very light.  A niece has a Wii, so one sister and I had played bowling.  It was a lot of fun.  Now I really do want to find a game set.  All 3 of us said we have got to get together more often.  My youngest sister thinks that is part of the reason why this whole job thing happened for me.  (She has a couple different thinkings on it.)  When I was in DC and first thought of moving back home, she had said we would get together once a month or so.  But we really haven't done it.  She was afraid I might move back to DC if I couldn't get a job here.  So she said this is God's way of reminding us that we had said we would spend more time together, so we need to do it.  Very possible.

    Everybody have a good evening.

    Hello Alice!!

I have not heard of anyone using that particular med on this board, but I could be wrong.  Do you ever go to the diabetes.org web site, there are boards there where more people post who are using different meds and giving their thoughts about them.  I'm a pre-diabetic who tries to control blood sugars by diet and daily exercise.  My dh is a type-2 diabetic, and he uses insulin shots, Novolog before each meal and Lantus before bedtime each night.

Please check often and post, we are a nice group here, some of us have been together before diabetes in fact, when we just wanted to eat better and healthy and so forth.

    Hi everyone...

Just checking in before I turn off my computer.

Welcome Alice.  No, I don't that medication either -metformin and glicazide (sp?) for me.  Come back often OK... we're here every day.  Oh... I like the photo - are those pumpkins you're standing in front of?

I've never cut my own hair - I could never see what I was doing.  I never even cut my kids's hair when they were young.  My mom and dad had cutters from when we were little so they always did Tim's hair - at least until he entered school.  Then a good friend of ours was a hairdresser so she always offered to cut our hair - the kids and DH's... and then we'd have a game of rook.  We got together with them several times a month, if not weekly... so she's have the hair cuts done before I had the dinner dishes cleared.  She was fast.

Well, I'm tired.... and my bed is hollering my name...   Sleep

See you all in the morning.

Alice - Welcome to our board.  I'm not on that medication.  I'm on Glimepiride and it does a good job of controlling my numbers, even if I don't exercise.  But exercise is very important to control.  One thing a nurse told me about my medicine is I need to take it with my meal, that it works better when I do.  So you might try that if your numbers aren't improving.  Please join us on a regular basis if you can.  Good luck!

Doris - I hope you are having a good weekend and your weather is getting more spring-like.

Hauke - That's good that you had a friend to cut your hair.  I once trimmed mine and messed it up so I had to go to the professionals and get it fixed.  I never did that again.

We are to be in the upper 50's today but with rain and possible storms.  But I'm still going to try to get to Garden Ridge (the home store).  I do need to get some cleaning done since I was gone most of the day yesterday.

    Everybody have a good Sunday.

    Good Morning Everyone!!!

I slept "in" this morning and am late getting around!! LOL I was wide awake at 4 Am, but fell back to sleep till 7 AM!! I should be well rested today!!! Breakfast for me is Activia vanilla yogurt, 1/2 banana and a little fiber cereal on top...it is very tastey. When I had the bug, the antibiotic gave me the runs something awful and the Chantix...gas.  The Activia seems to be helping both problems!!

Joyce, I hope you get to that new store....It would be calling my name too!!

Welcome, Alice!!! I take metforim, with no problems at all.  I really think the metforim helped me lose weight....which I need to concentrate on doing again!!! I gain and lose the same 10 pounds over and over again.

Our weather is getting better here too. It is only 24 degree's this morning, but next week we are to hit the 50's...I am impressed.

Mom seems to be doing okay.  Maybe the whole week was just too stressful for her and for us...I don't know, but I really don't think she realized how she acted and how it looked to the homecare worker.  I still can not believe it myself.

Doris, hope all is well with you.

Marge, if you peek in, I hope you are feeling better too. You too, Sandy and all the Sisters who are under the weather. Annette, we haven't heard from you for awhile either.

Seems like alot of new people are stopping by, so I want to be sure to welcome them and hope they join in our conversations!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

    Friends Are Like Angels

    Our friends are like angels

    who brighten our days

    In all kinds of wonderful,

    magical ways.

    Their thoughtfulness comes

    as a gift from above

    And we feel we're surrounded

    by warm, caring love.

    Like upside-down rainbows

    their smiles bring the sun

    And they fill ho-hum moments

    with laughter and fun.
