Happy Sunday Heatlhy Ones!  Big Smile

Dusta, We ended up going to McD's last night for supper. I had the SW salad but cheated and shared an order of fries with DH and I had an iced coffee. :(  OK, not sure when I will get back on track with the comfort meal for Crystal's Bday this evening. I will do the best that I can do. lol  Hope you can find a book but I hear ya on not needing to buy more. I have a little bookshelf full of self help, health, etc. books so I try to check them out to the library so I don't stockpile them any more. :)

Just wanted to stop in real quick, Jake is sleeping in this morning.   Thank you all so much for the emails, posts, hugs, good thoughts, etc.   It means so much to me.   Yesterday my mom insisted on taking Jake for the day, so Tim and I tried to go out and have a fun date day.   My mom is doing better than I thought, but my grandpa is just lost.  He's only coming down from their apt for dinner, and then goes straight back up.    They were married 65 years, and the only times they've been apart was while he was away during the war and since she had to go into the NH last year.

My mom told me yesterday that my Gram wanted me to have her yarn/craft stuff and I asked for her recipe box.    No one else wants it, I'm the only cook.   I just wish I had more time with her to learn some of her best recipes, but at least I'll be able to remember her when I make them.

Sending big hugs, and again, big thanks to all of you.   Hope you have a wonderful Sunday, we are hoping for some sun and a little warmth so we can take Jake to do something fun.

(((Jolene))), have a fun day with Jake.

I am getting ready to start the pineapple upside down cake for Crystal's Bday meal this evening. It is her favorite. Also on the menu is chicken-n- dumplings, green beans, corn bread and a salad. As you can see I have some carb temptations to deal with. :)

We had a nice service at church today.

The cake is in the oven and beginning to smell heavenly. It is the recipe that I make in the cast iron skillet(Star's sister's recipe)- I sent mouth watering pics out last time.lol So, I just may spare you all this time to save you from the temptation.

I think I will call Mom and chat while the cake is baking and maybe get a short rest before I start the rest of the meal.  I am going to bake  b/s thighs and do the dumplings on the side- the kids love them that way. I use a lot of chicken broth and some cream of chicken soup for the dumpling broth so they still come out rich.

    :)

Muril I was talking to a man the other night, at the party, and he said something about his Mama's dumplings. Love them, always have sweet potatoes too. It makes the plate have color.

Went to wm and bought 3 books, all paper back, but it still adds up. Also bought another pair of shoes, did not need them.

Have did your cake turn out? DM use to make that too, can still smell it.

Dusta, the cake is delicous so I saved one more piece for DH to eat and sent the rest of the cake home with Ryan and Crystal, plus they took leftover chicken and dumplings. Everything was good except the green beans. I bought the private selection brand of whole green and waxed beans mixed- the one that you can steam in the bag in the microwave. Well, they tasted rubbery- learned my lesson. :) I should have cooked them on the stovetop. :)

Glad you found some books to keep you entertained. :) I love to read.

Off to spend some quality time with DH - gonna watch a movie on tv.  I go to Miss Nancy's tomorrow.  :)

    Have a good evening!
