    Chili Dog Soup

    A neighbor gave me some cookbooks he was going to throw away.  This recipe caught my eye first.  I made it and it is so good! I had to share the recipe with you....

    Chili Dog Soup

     

    1 pound Hamburger

    1 pound Hot Dogs, cut up

    1 28-ounce can diced Tomatoes, undrained

    2 16-ounce cans dark red Kidney Beans, undrained

    2 15-ounce cans Tomato Sauce

    1 tablespoon Chili Powder

    1 teaspoon Salt

    1 teaspoon dry Mustard

    1 Bay Leaf

     

    To be put in seperated bowls and served as soup toppers:

    1 cup shredded cheese

    1/2 cup chopped Onion

    Sweet Pickle Relish - if desired

    Fritos Corn Chips

     

    Cook ground beef. Drain. Stir in hot dogs, diced tomatoes, kidney Beans, tomato sauce, salt, mustard, and bay leaf. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionaly. Remove bay leaf. Spoon into bowls.

     

    Serve in seperate bowls - chips, cheese, chopped onion, sweet dill pickle relish for everyone to top their soup how they would like it.
