    Cornbread

    2 cups flour

    2 cups cornmeal

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

    1/2 cup dark brown suar

    1 stick butter

    2 cups sour milk

    4 eggs

    1/4 tps salt

    8 tsps. baking powder
    In a bowl---

    sift,flour,cornmeal ,salt and baking powder together.set aside.

    In another bowl--

    cream butter and sugars together.add eggs and milk to creamed mixture. beat at least 3 minutes or until the wet ingredients are well blended.

    next,add the dry ingredents one cup at a time to the wet mixture.
    mix the batter until just blended.Do not over mix.

    batter will be lumpy .

    Bake in a well greased 9x13 baking pan at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until top of corn bread is brown.

    Makes 24 servings

    Please note:I used a heavy stand up mixer to make this recipe

     what is the flavor like with the brown sugar.........never seen that added to corn bread...

    Its a bit sweeter ,but not sugary sweet  I think the brown sugar changes the texture of the cornbread more so than the flavor of it .
