    Maple pecan pastries

I'm looking for a recipe for Maple Pecan Pastries.  They sell them in our local Publix grocery store.  The filling taste a lot like pecan pie filling.

    Maple Pecan Danish

    DANISH

1 pkg. of frozen puff pastry thawed
3/4 cup (6oz) cream cheese softened
    1/4 cup icing suger
    1 egg
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    5 tbsp. flour
    1/2 cup chopped pecans

    GLAZE

    1/4 cup (2oz) cream cheese
    3/4 cup icing sugar
    1 tbsp. milk
    1 tbsp. maple syrup
    1/4 cup chopped pecans

Pre heat oven to 400*F. Seperate pastry squares. Roll each square to a 12x9 inch rectangle. Place on baking sheets. Beat 3/4 cup of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of icing suger, egg, vanilla, maple syrup and flour until well blended. Stir in 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. Spread mixture down center of pasteries leaving 3 inches of dough on each side. Make 2 inch long cuts at 1 inch intervals on long side of pastry. Crisscross strips over the filling. Bake for 15 minutes at 400*F, turn down oven to 375*F bake for 10 to 15 minutes longer until golden brown. Remove to racks to cool.

Beat glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over pasteries and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of chopped pecans.

These are not exactly like Tim Hortons, DH says they are better. I will be doing more experimenting with this recipe.

    Enjoy!

RE: Recipe:Maple Pecan Danish Kringle (Yum!)

Combine 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil and butter is melted (6 to 8 minutes). Stir in maple extract. Remove from heat; stir in 1 cup flour. Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture forms a ball (about 1 minute). Remove from heat.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, with wire whisk or wooden spoon until smooth and glossy.

Spread half of egg mixture over each pastry rectangle. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until surface is crisp and golden. Cool at least 20 minutes. (Topping rises during baking and shrinks during cooling, forming custard-like layer.)

Combine all glaze ingredients in small bowl. Beat at low speed 1 minute. Beat at high speed until smooth and creamy, adding additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired glazing consistency.

Spread glaze over kringle. Sprinkle with nuts.

Storage: Wrap in plastic food wrap or aluminum foil; refrigerate up to 2 days.

    VARIATIONS:

Lemon Pecan Kringle - Omit maple extract in topping. Substitute 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice and 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel. Omit maple extract and milk in glaze. Substitute 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice.

Almond Kringle - Omit maple extract in topping. Substitute 1 teaspoon almond extract. Omit maple extract in glaze. Substitute 1/2 teaspoon almond extract or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

    Maple Pecan Tart

    Maple Pecan Tart

    Cream Cheese Pastry

1 cup butter, at room temperature
6 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
    2 cups flour

    Filling

    2/3 cup butter, melted
    1 cup brown sugar
    4 egg
    3/4 cup maple syrup
    2 tsp vanilla
    dash of salt
    3 cups pecan halves

    Directions:

    Cream Cheese Pastry

    Preheat oven to 375º F.
In a mixer fitted with paddle attachment, cream together butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add flour and blend until dough comes together. Shape dough into a disc, wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Place dough into an 8-inch removable bottom tart shell or pie pan and trim edges. Press edges a little, so that dough rises just above the edge of the pan, about ¼ inch. Chill for 20 minutes.

    Filling
Whisk together all ingredients except pecans until smooth. Pour filling into chilled, unbaked tart shell. Arrange pecan halves on top of filling.
Bake tart for 25-30 minutes, until filling doesn’t jiggle when you shake it, and crust is golden brown.

    Re: Maple pecan pastries

Wow, I've been shopping at Publix for 28 years now, and I do not honestly remember ever seeing this item in the bakery.  I'm going to have to ask about this on weekend when I do my shopping because I love pecan pie.
