I just transplanted a bunch of Tiny Tim and sweet 100's plants, and a handful to Jalapenos. Hoping to move some more plants outside on Friday. it is just so windy and will be until then. Everything dries out so bad here, silly wind.  I hate the wind.  Stick out tongue

Well I  planted the restof the peppers outside this morning (habaneros), we are expceting clouds and rain for the next 4 days. Just a fwe more petunias to plant and I am done for the year, well, until it is time to plant more lettuce.

My tulips out front are opening, will take some pictures. And I can see my lillies have really been reproducing under the soil and there are a lot coming up!!!!!!

Still have to weed the one front flower bed (one with the fountain), lay another layer or mulch and I should be ready for grad. Wish I could make things grow and flower faster, oh well.

I hope everyone had a good gardening weekend!

Hey, Sandra~just real quick for tonight...

Here is the geranium tree after being planted for one week. Most of the leaves are at least 4-5 inches across and the center is still growing straight-7 inches tall in a 10 inch planter...Guess we will see how it goes from here...It already tried to make a flower but I picked it off. The leaves got huge fast!

This is all new to me!

OK so your pinch the buds off, what about the leaves, do you pinch them off if so when do you begin doing that ? When do you start staking it. I am going to check out some stores today  and look for one, I have a nursery close by I hope to visit there today maybe I can find one. Boy them leaves sure are green, do you keep it in full sun.......part or indirect as your pinching and growing? What color is the flower just being nosey. lol

May the green thumbs be with us.

    Hi everyone!

It has beena busy week here, still moving the gravel, but the pile has shrunk considerably. Thanks to yours truely!

This week I ripped out probably close to 100 pounds of sod and replaced that with fabric bricks and gravel. And those bricks were all moved many times. We loaded then at the store, first onto the trolley and then the truck. Then I carried them all to DH as he placed them. Thne yesterday morning I ripped out everything he did and redid it the way I wanted it done! lol And I am happy with it for now, but I do forsee some changes, pehaps after grad.

I still need to do the north side of the house, but we need to haul in some dirt first to raise the ground level. But it is getting there...........and boy my arms are getting pumped up!

    Big Smile

    Happy Gardening everyone!

Redawna, this is looking great~don't underestimate the weight of sod! I load trucks all day and it doesn't take much soil and DIRT to weigh 40 lbs! I bet you moved more than that!

Sandra, the little start I found was about 4 inches tall, including stem and leaves. I removed all but the top two leaves. The weather was still cool so I just had it on the covered part of the deck and has stayed there. The other one I started a few days ago was still small like when I bought it. I planted it in the full sun and it is kind of weak, to say the least. I think the sun and wind stressed it after I did but it is growing. Now the stem on the others is about 6 inches tall and I pick out all the 'double' leaves that start and hear and there leave a strong leaf. Guess I will see where it all goes from here.

Our arbor now is all framed in and the top boards go on today~then will plant the seedlings, shrubs, lay the other stuff to mulch~Here is where we were two days ago...It has 8 posts and then the top. Eventually~always a work in progress~it will have paths but have to get something down because it is a REAL PAIN to mow and trim the way it is nowSad We have to do it ourselves because it just costs too much money to hire it all done and I don't think I would want to do that anyway, know what I mean?

Re: It's veggie/flower gardening time again! What are you planting?

    Hi everyone,

Linda, it is going to be gorgeous when its done! And yes, most yards and gardens are a work in progress, always evolving, changning!

So far I am very please with all my beds, the perennials are multiplying like crazy!!! Before I know it my beds will be fuill, which is great since they are only 3 years old!!!! I am going to have many many lillies this year, I can not wait for the show. My Firespray tulips flowers at different times this year and I never could get a any good pictures. Plus the 90 km an hour winds blew some of the petals off. I did get some really excellent shots last year.

My Lupines are coming up very nicely! And this year I added a Purple Coneflower plant. I should have bought a few of those. Might need to go and check the store tomorrow for one or 2 more. Most things look better planted in odd numbers.

I also added 2 Hostas to the back yard, these are new to me. Not a big shade gardener as I have never had much shade to deal with. But I have 2 spots in the yard that are quite shady i the afternoon so I am hoping they do well.

Need to do some research on my blueberry bushes, they might need a bit of pruning? Will look in to that tomorrow.

My beets, onoins, dill and lettuce is up. Nothing yet from the carrots or beans. Soon hopefully, or I will replant.

And I have a few more flower planters to do up. It was windy today so I did other jobs. And more weed pulling, like usual.

I will take a few shots of the front flower beds tomorrow.

    Happy Gardening everyone!

Redawna, those lilies are beautiful~Mine were overtaken by that darn Russian Sage! The iris and clematis are in bloom right now. The established beds are doing well~nothing ready to bloom there but a bush that we have no idea what it is~I bought it at the end of summer a few years ago and it didn't have a tag! And the Minuet Weiglia has its first years blooms.

I didn't get all the mulch down but around the beds I put in~it is hard to figure out where to put a bed with no path and hard to put a path when you don't know what you want to plant in a bed that isn't there! The arbor is complete and just standing there bare~don't know what do do since I really can't afford to do what I want this year~especially since I bought all the mulch just to avoid mowing! lol

Maybe I can get out and take a photo of the clematis tonight~the huge white flowers are quite stunning!

You have a great day and don't work too hard!

    Where are our gardeners?

    Sunny

the sun is out finally, so i might be able to get all my gardens done this year!!  sheesh i thought it was never going to stop.  i think it is only a slight repreive though.. i heard rain again for the whole weekend.   i've just been filling my time with daydreaming and building new stuff to add outside.  so far made some really cool benches, and some planter covers. and some stuff for the tack room (a saddle stand, and such)  i wanted to get it all done, and take some pictures... cant wait to show it all off this year!!  been working on the yard for about four years now, and it is finally looking more finished!

anyhow, have to run, i can already see some huge rain clouds heading my way AGAIN, so this sun is going to be short lived i guess.

cookie, how interesting that you make such neat things! You will be sure and tell us all about it, okay?

All my plants covered-flowers and veggies. Holy cow~frost at the end of May!

Thought I would get a picture of the clematis...hope frost doesn't do it in! It sure looks great! If I thought all of them would grow like this one, I would put them on every post on that arbor! Every flower is 8-10 inches across! Anyone know what kind it is? It is another one of those that I bought at end of season with no tag! lol

Have a great evening, ladies! I have to call it a night here~Linda

Linda, it is Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! no doubt, if I could grow them like that they would be everywhere!!!!! I can grow Anything but I have a problem with all types of Clematis. I just don't understand why? Heck, I can even grow and flower water melons in the house and those flowers give me a heck of a time. I lost 2 this winter, well possibly one my be living, just a little stem sticking out of the ground. Do you trim yours down? I have and I haven't, nothing works for me.

Claire, you are lucky to be able to make so many things!  Love to learn how to work with all those neat power tools!

Re: It's veggie/flower gardening time again! What are you planting?

Redawna, I had to laugh~if I could grow them like that, I would have them all over!  I don't know whether it is this particular name of the clematis that grows so well or whether it is good soil there(it would be the only place that has it!) or if it has some good protection beside that trellis or what! I have had my share of dying clematis. I planted this one late summer two years ago. Last year it grew and had several flowers. While I was deciding whether to kill it by cutting it back or kill it by letting it grow, it just took off this spring! I have no idea why!

I am ready to go to work so will have to check out if it really did frost or hopefully a bad prediction. I had the girls at work cover everything as they are a bit further north so it very well could have got them and not us here.  I sure hope not~our flowers are the best in the area...little more expensive than a mart but still the best!

Have a great day! HUGS, Linda
