Nancy - One of my co-workers put her house on the market and she had already found a new house.  I was worried that she may have to pay two mortgages if she didn't sell her house quickly, but I think it was only on the market for a week or so.  So she was very fortunate.  She lives in one of the "trendy" areas of town, so that may be why it sold so quickly.

Deb - I really enjoy seeing the flowers, trees and bushes come to life this time of year.  I don't know the names of trees but there's one type that has purple/pink blooms that is so pretty.  I drove by the reservoir Saturday and the road is lined with them.  It was such a beautiful sight.  How nice that you got together with your school friends.

Marge - It sounds like you are coming along very well.  I'm so glad to hear that!  I know you enjoyed your time at the Senior Center.  Good to be back to see your friends.  I'm glad you finally got to see Adrian.  The quilt show in September will be a lot of fun for all of you.  Our gas hit $3.65 last week, but some stations are now back down to $3.59, still too high.

Hauke - Yes, I was glad I remembered about my time sheet.  I think it would have been okay to approve it tonight, but I didn't want to take a chance.  $5 for gas?  Oh my goodness.  And here I am complaining about $3.59.  They are saying there is a chance we will be close to $5 by summer. I hope not.  Hope you enjoyed your shows last night.

Sandy - You had a busy weekend.  At work, we sometimes have Word Perfect documents.  I have never really been trained on Word Perfect, but I can muddle through.  We normally work in Word, but there are some courts that still require Word Perfect.

Doris - That was a long trip, but I'm sure it was worth it.  I hope the anniversary celebration was a nice time.  What a change in the temperatures for you.  Hope you got some rest last night.

Mary - It sounds like a nice ride yesterday.  I don't know if I've ever seen elk before.  We have deer, but not elk.  I don't think they're the same, are they?  Have a good day.

I want to get my hair cut today.  I'm going really short again.  It is driving me nuts.  We have a cloudy day so far and they are calling for storms later this afternoon.

I'm going to go watch The Today Show ... where is Matt Lauer.  I always like when they do that.  Everybody have a good day.

    Morning.

I'm ready for coffee Mary, so if you have a cup left, I take a little cream and some splenda.  50 elk!  that's a big herd.  I always love the "majesty" of those 'wild' animals like moose, elk and deer - even bears have a certain "I'm here - look at me" about them.   LOL

Joyce, when I first started the computer we used Word Perfect, but then switched to Word in the mid 90's as it was compatible with Excel and Powerpoint and so on while Word Perfect was on it's own.  So after all this time, I'm sure I'd be muddling too with one of those documents.  LOL

Marge, hope you're feeling better... and I know you want the time to go faster, but if the doc says 3-4 months, please don't rush it.  Time flies too fast as it is.

I spoke with Pill last night... well actually her DH as she was out helping her SIL.  Had an email from her and so I picked up the phone to call.  Please add Jill and her family to your prayers.  Her brother in law was killed late yesterday afternoon.  He was a wonderful musician and in the ministry.  He's lives in Oregon and he was in California for a concert or ministry of some sort.  He had finished the morning service and had another concert scheduled for the evening in a different church.  He was killed in a car accident somewhere sometime between the services.  He leaves behind a wife and adult children.  He will be missed greatly, but I know he's a great addition to that heavenly choir - he's probably in a quartet of some sort already.  He was a very gifted musician and I loved his style of singing.    Jill had emailed me asking for prayers... so I'm passing it on.

Well, cyber coffee sounds great, but I think if I go start my coffee machine, mine might smell better.... so I'm off to the kitchen.

oh... also... please say a prayer for my Heather... she's on a plane around 4 pm today heading to Chile - Santiago -  flying from Calgary to Toronto and then Santiago.  It's a long flight.  Pray for safe travels for them and smooth transfers in the airports.  Security can be so time consuming, and I know they don't have a lot of time to change planes in Toronto.

    Thanks everyone!

    Love you all

    Hauke

Re: DC Conversation - Monday, April 28

    Good morning, everyone.

The forecast is downright sad. The weatherman just said, snow off and on all thru the day and night. Probably just the kind that sticks to the lawn, but I still say, Who needs it?

MARY, that's a lot of elk. I haven't seen any in the wild, but there are several elf farms in northern WI. We pass one on the way to Red Wing, MN from Fairchild, WI.  The weather is up and down for all of us, and it can be such a bummer. I know, we need sun.

JOYCE, oh, that haircut will feel so good. And, gas prices here are not good, either. So, far, $3.79 and up. I use Word at home for a few things. But, Laura does most of their office things with Word and Excel.

HAUKE, praying for a safe trip for Heather. Chile will be an exciting place to visit. As for computer programs, my DGC are good with all of them. They have been doing projects with Powerpoint since third grade. I am lucky if I can muddle through.

PILL, prayers for your whole family at the loss of DBIL.

DORIS, after that long ride, your sitter must be all sat out.

MARGE, I can see a perked up attitude in your post. Just seeing friends and meeting later on will be a good thing.

SANDY, busy days for you. No one asks me for computer help, they know better. As for the weather----who knows what we will be dealt.

A load of clothes in ready for the dryer, and I may even "iron" something, today. My Rowenta won't know what's happening that it's getting used. BBL

Hauke - Some of the basic things in the different word processor programs are the same but some are very different.  Thank you for letting us know about Jill's BIL.  How sad.  I will definitely add them to my prayers.  Also adding Heather.  I hope things go well with her flights.  What an experience for her.

Nancy - Our weatherman mentioned snow for today/tomorrow also.  Very hard to believe, especially after I've commented how pretty all our flowers/trees/bushes are.  I hope they all make it through the cold weather.  Yep, the hair got chopped. I brought a picture of myself from when I had it short before so she would know I meant very short and she did just what I wanted. I really like it and it is off my neck.  I did pay $3.55 for gas this morning, but I heard oil hit a new high so I figured it will go up again in the next couple of days.  I am getting much better with Excel.  At first, I didn't know anything, but after working with it, I've learned quite a bit and feel pretty comfortable with it now.

Did you all hear me shouting from the roof-top?  *lol*  I found out I have been approved for bariatric surgery.  I was so upset last week because things were going so slow and I was on the phone with the insurance company for over an hour one day last week.  I called this morning to see if the latest fax had been received.  She looked at my account and she said evidently it had been because it was authorized.  She even gave me an authorization number!  I called the surgeon's office (left a message for the lady I've been talking to).  I know I have a number of tests I have to have done to make sure I can physically have it done.  So I need to get those set up.  I'm hoping I will hear back from her yet today.  I'll keep you posted.  Thank you to all you ladies for all your support and prayers.  I really appreciate it!

    Hi Everyone!!!!!!!

Hauke, I am so sorry to hear about Jill's brother!! I hope Jill knows we will keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayer at this very sad time.

Sending prayers and good vibes to Heather on her travels too.  I bet you have one excited, happy daughter there Hauke!!!

I cleaned out drawers this AM and got my summer stuff out and got rid of a bunch of things too.  I ended up with two empty drawers, which means I can order some things from Penneys.....LOL Gosh, I am as bad as Mom with saving everything....LOL

Nancy, sorry about your weather forcast!!  This too, shall pass.   Ours is not the greatest either. It is 46 degree's cloudy with some rain.

Joyce a new hair cut will make you feel really good.  I got my hair shorter and just love it.  When its short, I can scrunch it and it curls like I used a curling iron.

Check back later....Young and Restless  is calling my name!! LOL  Wishing you ALL a GREAT Monday!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

    Hi, everyone.

Got some things done today. Then, went to Farm and Fleet with Russell. Had lunch and then did a few more chores, with a nap thrown in, too.

JOYCE, shouting Hallelujah! with you. Keep things rolling now, and I hope the ins. co. and doctors cooperate, too. Good idea to have a pic of the haircut you like. Makes it easier to get what you want. Our gas is just a tad higher than by you.

MARY, still really chilly here, but no snow, yet. The wind is up, too. I like to keep my curly perm hair-do short, too. And, I dislike hair hanging on the back of my neck.

DEB, always nice to meet old friends. Sadly, two of my best friends have passed on. But, meeting with teachers I worked with makes for good times, now.

Our week has a few doctor's app'ts. and meetings. Tonight is a church meeting, and I hope it will be a short one.

    Have a good evening.

Re: DC Conversation - Monday, April 28

    Good evening all.

Well, I am sooo tired, but trying to stay up until a decent hour to call it quits.  Short night last night since I knew I had to get up early, I was awake an awful lot it seemed.  Dr appt went fine.  Weight was maybe up a pound or two, but BP was great.  Go for blood work in the morning so we can see if the Cholesterol went down.  Also have to schedule a mammo.   Weather was sunny(kind of unexpected I think) and in the 50's.  The chance of snow comes tonight and maybe in the morning.  Sure don't want to see that.

Joyce, I am so excited for you.  Sure hope the time til the surgery goes smoothly for you.  Bet the haircut looks nice.  I get mine cut on Wed, and will probably have her go alittle shorter than she has been.  I'll get it hi-lited just  before my neices wedding next month.

Mary, 2 empty drawers?????  Bet you find lots of new pretties to fill them up.  Your ride yesterday sounds like a relaxing time.  Elk are so majectic!

Marge, so nice to hear from you.  You sure sounded upbeat and chipper.  Just don't overdo it as you know we all worry about you.

Sandy, what a trip helping to pick out all the paint colors for DD's apt.  If she changes her mind, as long as she picks out the new colors on her own, it should be OK.

Jill, prayers for you and your family as you go through this time of sadness.

hauke, I hope your snow stays gone  until winter hits.  You have had it long enough for sure.  Prayers that Heather has a smooth and safe flight.  That sure is a long way to fly!!

Doris, glad you had a nice time at the party.  I'm sure you are glad to be home and not riding in  a car.  How long before the next trip to the valley for Dr appts?

Well, almost time for Little People Big World and then Jon and Kate plus 8 will be on.  Then, it's off to bed for me.  See you all on Tuesday.

    Hi Gals,

Just to clarify the mix-up with Word/Wordperfect~~ DB was trying to set up a graph.  Now, I can do it on my computer, but couldn't figure out how to do it in Word.  If it had been plain ole word processing, I probably wouldn't have had a problem.  When his daughter come over, she opened up the tool bar extension, and there was the little graph icon just like I have.  Amazing how simple things are when you know what you are doing!

Joyce, Yahoo, Congratulations, etc.  So glad you got the good news.  Hope there won't be any further problems crop up.

Hauke, I am so sorry to hear of Jill's BIL.  Don't know which is worse, an long, drawn out death or one like this, when it's such a shock.  Please tell her she and the extended family is in our prayers.  Prayers also are with Heather as she travels  ~~ and hope she has a great time.

I woke up this morning to big ole fat snow flakes.  It didn't last long and also didn't accumulate, but how depressing.  Our temp is to get down to 28° tonight.  We will be up to 53° tomorrow, but long-term there doesn't seem to be much stability in the temps. 70° one day, then back down into the 40's the next.  Ugh

I can't believe what a quiet week this will be ~~ other than bridge tomorrow I have nothing planned ~~ not even a doctor's appt.  Can you believe it?  Well, I want to watch Dancing with the Stars, so better get going.

'til later, Sandy  Stick out tongue

    Love to Cook 5

    Hello group, lol.

Sandy, I'm glad you don't have any appt's this week, boy, isn't that a treat??  We hope this week turns out that way too for us just to stay home all week.

deb, I'm glad you got that dr. appt done with, except for the good old "ironing of the jugs".  And to think they charge for that too!!!!  You know a man had something to do with that test!!!

hauke, I'm praying and keeping fingers crossed for Heather to get to Chile safe and sound.  I fogot how long she will be gone though??

Nancy, did you buy anything at "Farm & Fleet"??  Is that Red Wing, MN the one where they make those work boots?

I'm sorry to read about Pill's brother in law, what a horrible shock for everyone.  Sad story for his family, I wonder what city it happened in??

Mary, empty drawers helps keep the economy of America growing I guess, lol.  I notice many stores seem to be having extra special sales lately too.

Joyce, I wondered when you mentioned you wanted to cut your hair, if you were already thinking of when you had surgery, so you wouldn't have to worry about fussing with your hair during the first part of your treatment??  Heck, once you lose the weight you may want to grow it all back, and do the glamour treatment on yourself!!!  Makes me smile to think of it, and to be rid of the diabetes besides.

We are so glad to be back home.  My cousin made a photo CD of a bunch of old family photos, so they had that going from a projector onto an empty wall in the room where the dinner was held.   We had a good laugh looking at all the old hair styles, clothes that some of us wore, and there were photos of my aunt and uncle and other relatives that I had never seen before.  Of course, the ones of family members that were no longer there also made some of us cry.  But that's the way it goes, life goes on.   Sigh....

    Good night folks!!!

    Doris
