    Site Survey Update

Thanks to everyone who took part in last week's survey! Your feedback will help us improve this site. Overall, survey results indicate that...

    1. You're more interested in improving performance than in adding new features.

    2. You visit primarily to exchange recipes and to chat.

Regarding performance, many of you said that the site seems slow and that navigation needs improvement. We're already at work on those issues. For example, you'll soon see new navigation links in the right-hand column that will let you quickly move from one forum or group to another. We're also checking out a text-only option that would let you "turn off" graphics if you choose.

NOTE that many users reported a major improvement in performance after switching browsers. Firefox seems to work best, especially on Macintosh computers.

As for exchanging recipes, we're working improving the search function and adding an "ISO" (In Search Of) link that will quickly search the site for user recipes and Taste of Home recipes. We're also working on improvements to online recipe boxes.

After we've worked on performance and recipe search issues, we'll begin to implement some new features based on survey results. I'll keep you posted.

    Again, thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the update on the survey results!

One thing I forgot to ask for.....is there a way to add a "back to the top" button at the bottom of the pages? That would be convenient!

    Re: Site Survey Update

I'll just take the easy way out and copy my reply from kc.

Ok, I'll play Devil's Advocate here because when the site first came online, I was one of the few that experienced faster page loading than on the old software & servers. Then as now my browser of choice was/is Internet Explorer. I'll also mention just for the record that while I'm no computer Geek, I'm not completely ignorant and can work my way thru most software issues that I've encountered. I know many people here have more knowledge and experience than I do but I also know many, many more do not.

    So I have to ask.............

Just because you failed to beta test this new software properly (in other words with people of all skill levels ...... the people who would actually be using it on a daily basis) ............

Why should we be forced to use a different browser in order for this site to work like it's supposed to?

I would recommend trying out the "Home" key on your keyboard.

Thank you for answering the more important question that was asked.

    Sounds good to me love2cook.

I'll be looking forward to the new features. Especially the "text-only option that would let you "turn off" graphics". Would that option also "turn off" the siggies?

Is there a way to keep the page from locking up on us? Thanks
