Good Grief, these were good! Yumsome, EASY Peach Smoothies!

Oh, MAN! This is SO good. And absolutely so easy you will not believe it.

I have been experimenting with easy recipes that I can make at work, since we're limited there with kitchen equipment and, lately, time.

Tonight I tried this and it was delicious. I had to make two containers of them, since these folks were sucking them up as quick as I could make them (I had intended to save half the stuff for later in the week, LOL, I guess it's back to the grocery story)

Leisa is wandering around right now moaning that there are no more Peach Smoothies because we drank them all!

Also, if you're not a yogurt person, don't hesitate with these. Leisa detests yogurt so much that I wouldn't tell her what was in the smoothies until she'd tried them and then she couldn't believe it. You cannot tell that it's yogurt at all.

    Star's Easy Peach Smoothies

1 24.5 plastic jar of Dole Sliced Peaches in light syrup
2 6 oz containers of Yoplait French Vanilla Yogurt

Freeze the jar of peaches until it is pretty frozen. Remove from freezer and use a long spoon to dig it out and into a tall container, using the spoon to break up the large chunks as you go. Add two containers of French Vanilla yogurt. Use an immersion blender to combine and liquify the ingredients, but leave a few "chunks" of peach. (Alternately, you could use a regular blender or even a potato masher if no blender is available)  If you liquify it enough you can use large straws to drink it with, otherwise you might have to use a spoon, LOL. Leisa liked it chunkier than I wanted it. Freezing the peaches is key to this being as good as it is, and you don't need any sweetener with the syrup in the peaches.

This is awesome, and doubly so since it's so easy.

I found a recipe online that was nearly identical to mine and the picture looks just like them so I"m going to add it here.

Also, as an addendum, I made these for Sydney this week and she couldn't believe that there were just the two ingredients in them. :)

When my kids were teens, I taught them to do the same, using less yogurt, and more frozen fruit, and it came out like a soft ice cream. They learned to adjust the amount of yogurt to their own liking....and it was always unflavoured yogurt. I always kept frozen strawberries, peaches, bananas, and berries, and any other useful fruit, in the freezer.

You're right, it's WONDERFUL! And healthy, and it doesn't need any sugar at ALL!! Low fat, too.

Wow, I love my peaches and this sounds wonderful. I like thin smoothies so I wouldn't even freeze my peaches. Thank-you Star. Hope you're doing well. Jill

Viola, I was thinking that I'd like to try some different fruits. We were talking about buying some of the frozen sweetened strawberries that you use for Strawberry Shortcake and trying those.

Jillie, I really think it won't be as good without freezing the fruit. You can blend it down to the consistency you want, even with it frozen...just whirl the dickens out of it, :)

They are really delicious. As soon as I got back to work tonight, Leisa asked when we were making more peach smoothies. Think I've created a monster? :)

Star, these do sound good. I can't wait until it warms up enough to make them. I like to serve smoothies with breakfast, if the rest of breakfast is light. With our temps in the 30's it is just too cold now. Soon I hope.

I agree...30 is too cold for something this icy! :)

We've been up in the low 80's in the day time already, although that's backed down to the upper 60's and low 70's. But warm enough to enjoy these.

They're really more like a peach shake than a breakfast drink, Ro, :)....Your kids will think they're having ice cream for breakfast, LOL. Ok, my kid would like that....never mind that I said anything, Ha.

Talkin' about smoothies, Star, how about this easy thing that we have all the time for breakfast?

    In the blender, throw
    • --1 peeled ripe banana
    • --1 carton of fruit yogurt (sometimes I match the yogurt to the berries I am using)
    • --9-12 ounces frozen berries (raspberries, blackberries or blueberries are favorites, or a mix of them)
    • --a splash of orange juice
    • --a dollop of vanilla extract

Whirl, and add a splash of cold water if it seems too thick and isn't whirling properly. You could add some crushed ice if you like.  No need to dirty any measuring cups. We had this for breakfast this morning!  (If you are into protein powder or stuff like that, you could also throw that in.)

Star, Lol! my kids wouldn't mind having a shake for breakfast either. Our temps don't look promising, 60's tomorrow then dropping way down for the weekend. DH told me snow is predicted for Sunday. If you want to swap weather I could help you out.Big Smile May and snow should not be used in the same sentence.Sad

Dorothy, your smoothie also sounds delicious. I try to keep some frozen fruit in the house all the time. I just need the yogurt and the warm temperatures to try both of these. I'm also waiting to try the oatmeal blueberry smoothie that was posted recently. Soon I hope.

Yes to these for breakfast! Why not. I made my smoothie last night just so it would be thin this am. I think I'll still try it the way I suggested Star. If I don't like it I can put it in the frieezer then.. I make mine similar to Dorothy's but have never added vanilla. Yum! Thanks all~

Dorothy, those sound wonderful. Thank you!

Ro, I cannot believe you're having snow this late in the year. :(. I hope it warms up for you soon.

Jill, you guys have convinced me. I'm having ice cream for breakfast, :)

Re: Good Grief, these were good! Yumsome, EASY Peach Smoothies!

About the only fruits so far that I've come across that DON'T make a good smoothie would be grapes and watermelon.   We had mango, stawberry, banana with vanilla yogurt and milk most recently.  Bought mango fresh, sliced at Costco (so youknow how much we had).  Ate on the mango for a couple days then froze the rest and now it's in smoothies!  If you're in need of a stick-with-you portable breakfast, try adding soy protein powder.

Smoothies are just a ton of fun to make because they're never quite the same every time.  At least not at my house.  Yogurt depending on what flavor we have, fruit, depending on how much of any given variety.

I buy yogurt in little cups for my son, and to take for lunches to work, but for smoothies I buy a big quart size tub.  It costs about as much as three little cups of yogurt!
