Good morning all.  Had a busy and long day yesterday with the staff meeting at the end of the day.   I'm doing laundry and a few other things plus packing and we leave noonish.  going to Solomon's Island which is across the bay from us and then south, on the Potomac (I think).  Come home Friday.  Cold start to the day but no frost as they said we might have.  Will put my tomatoes out in the cold frame while we are gone.

Margie, praying for your SIL and all the family.  Nice that you had the night off from cooking.

Deb, have a good day.  Your day sounds about like ours.  Be interesting to see if Jackson stays overnight on Friday.

Sherry, praying for you and your interview today.

Hi to all else.  Will pop back on before we leave.

    Miss Margie and all,

We are all fine. Of course, all we got was rain around here. It was pretty close to Ashley, though. Her job was damaged so now she is out of a job until she finds another one. Not that she was working that much anyway. She did have the baby with her at the time. Just took her home with her that day. I told her it figured that she would take her home and something would happen. Of course, if she would have known she wouldn't have gone home at all. I am amazed that no one was seriously hurt. Lots of damage. Feel sorry for everyone who lost everything. Luckily they all still have their loved ones.

I have been so busy and my computer has been being a butt. It wouldn't work at all and all of the sudden it started working again. Just have been to busy to be on it much. All I have been doing is working and taking care of the baby. Took the baby so that Ashley could have the time to work and save some money. Isn't happening too quickly. She is having too much fun being footloose and fancy free. Think we are going to sit down and have a heart to heart talk. Don't know if it will do any good or not. Still doesn't have the concept that when you have responsibilities you don't spend money and do what you want to do over your responsiblities. Not sure how to make her understand that. Money train has stopped on this end, now if it would only stop on the other end maybe she would see that she has to do it for herself.

Better get off of here. Sarah left her bookbag at MIL's and I need to go get it before school.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have tried to keep up some when I can. Miss you all.

    Darlene

Hi all,   Margie  I am so glad  you had a night off last night, do  you have a special pizza place or do you buy from one of the national know places.   Hospice will be so kind to you sis in law and her family, just knowing someone is going to help and guide is a wonderful feeling and she is right, Jerry had a wonderful quality of life for  almost 2  years.  he was a miracle man.

Deb   I know at  Jacksons age it is kind of one day  at a time for visits...my DB's birthday was  yesterday and while I was on the phone with him the little grandson came in and he was saying to his wife Karen " here comes hurricane Evan"  he is almost 18 months and a little charmer...he stays overnight a lot with them but I know the day will come when he might just not want to stay as often, that will really hurt them, I remember when Kassie was always so mixed up, not wanting to hurt our feelings....not  often.

Jill I hope the weather is grand for your mini vacation, it sounds lovely this time of  year.    I would love to live near your area.    We have a high of 50 expected today but the wammy is a prediction of snow this morning...it seems we just live for the weather man to brighten or dim our day.

Kassie is ready to wring the necks of the middleschool kids that are in her one  act.  She said Grandma they have no RESPECT for anything...she is now trying to bargin with them and telling them if the rehersal goes good she will bring them some of her Grandmas cookies.  I hope all goes better today, it is hard to see her miserable when she should be so happy with graduation so near.    Her Dad said the superintentant said this will be the last year for the One Acts.  My SIL spends so much time on the Fall and Spring plays and it is not fair for him to spend so much time on the One Acts.        It is supposed to be a big deal for the Seniors but it is just so time consuming and the kids have so much that they need to do at this  time of their Senior  year...

Our Trips ahoy group at work is having a Cinco De Mayio  (sp) dance on Monday and Kassie  will be the  DJ...I sure hope the weather is good, because it will be outside.   The clients always love these things.    well off I go    Shirley

Good morning! Just a quick run through this morning.  I work 10-10 and I have some stuff to do this morning before going in.  On my lunch break I have to take Kate to meet the nurses at the ob/gyn.  There goes that 2 hours... hope there's time to grab a bite.

Margie, so good to see your sil has some hope left in her.  I've heard that hospice is such a wonderful thing.  Hopefully they'll keep her pain level down and keep her comfortable.  Have a good day.

Darlene, so good to see you.  I was wondering about how close the tornado hit to Ashley's work, too.  Glad everyone is ok.  I'll get back with you via email.  I hope we can meet up when I'm in VA.

Got to run, no time to say hay to you'all!

Hugs, love and prayers for all that need 'em.

Very chilly 28º here - I'm with Margie, who took Spring??? It is sunny & supposed to get in mid to upper 50's later; hoping it didn't ruin my crabapple tree again. Sad

Have laundry & will try to work on my list of odd jobs; I had a muscle knot up in my neck/shoulders yesterday & could hardly move. It feels better, but still some twinges and I'm half afraid to move wrong and have it knot up again. I have some ham for supper, not sure if I will just make sandwiches or something else with it.

Margie, glad you didn't have to cook after cleaning all day; tonights supper sounds great! Praying for (((SIL))) & all the family, hope Hospice is able to keep her comfortable.

Deb, sounds like a nice day, hope you can get out & enjoy it! Will be nice if Jackson spends the night with you Friday. Smile

Jill, hope you have a safe trip and enjoy your time away!!

Darlene, sooo good to hear from you, glad you are all safe!! Sorry Ashley lost her work & that she's not been taking her responsibilities seriously, will pray that things turn around. Hope you can drop in more often!

Shirley, belated Happy Birthday to your DB! Sorry the kids are not behaving for Kassie, hope they straighten up. Good luck with the Cinco de Mayo party, will pray for nice weather!

Cherie, hope your day goes smoothly & Kate's appt. goes well. Sending hugs your way!

(((Sherry))), sending prayers your way that your interview goes great!!

Need to finish cleaning up my kitchen and get busy. Hope everyone has a great day!  hugs,

    Happy Wednesday!

Another chilly start to the day, only 32º.  But sun is out and it is supposed to be in the 50's.  Maybe I'll get something done outside!

Last night Royce and I went to Home Depot.  He bought a new kitchen faucet, ours was shot and also bought me a new push mower, mine died last fall.  He bought me an electric start, self propelled, it bags, it mulches, has everything except a cup holder!  lol  Love the idea of not having to pull my arm off trying to start the darn contraption!  It's a Cub Cadet brand.

Today I have my usual Wed. chore of doing beds, love the idea that I can hang the sheets outside to dry today!  I can smell them already.

Need to stop at store and pick up some brat buns and a couple other things.  I'm doing brats on the grill for supper.  Having the fruit salad with and not sure what else right now.

So good to see Darlene!!  Wondered about you GF!  Glad to hear all is ok with you.  You sound just way too busy!!

Ceeare,  so good to have you back too,  you always make my day with your wonderful humor and outlook on things.  Luv ya gf!

Have a wonderful day my dear friends.

    hugs.....................patti

Re: June Cleaver Club Wednesday 4/30/08

Good morning ladies, yesterday was a very rainy day, it poured buckets of water, the river is at flood stage, but we are on a high elevation, so it doesn't bother us, just the bridges and roads. Today is going to be a chilly day at 51 degrees, and a chance of frost tonight. That's Maine for you, 80 degrees one minute, then 50 degrees the next day. Suppose to warm up again Thursday, so hope Spring comes back. I planted my Oriental lilies and my Dahlia bulbs the day before it started to rain, got them in just in time. We have a very green lawn now, the grass is beautiful to see, so much better than snow.

The oil company came and filled my tank for the last time this season, and stuck a bill in my door for $589.00 for 138 gallons of oil. My eyes bugged out of my head at that price, as I prepaid last July at $2.67 a gallon, and now that I have run out of prebuy money, they are charging $4.18.9 a gallon. The gas is $3.69 a gallon here in Maine, and I take the medium grade of gas. I don't think it is going back to the old ways of paying .39 cent a gallon for gas ever again, it is just not reasonable anymore.

Today, I don't have much to do, too wet to do any gardening, thank goodness I didn't lose any buds on my Magnolia tree, we are having a frost tonight, hope it doesn't damage the buds. I baked some nice Corn Bread yesterday, and made Marinated Chicken (Margie's recipe, thank you Margie) for supper, and it was fantastic, DH loved it, will make that recipe again. Also got my laundry all caught up, while it was pouring ourside yesterday, so today light housework, and reading, and getting ready to go out to KFC for supper, go to Wal-mart and get some groceries, and then home to relax. Maybe I will make some nice big WW Blueberry Muffins today, as I have the time too.

Have to go find some breakfast to go with my coffee, hope you girls have a warmer day than it is here. Be good and remember planting season is coming back again, Lol, get ready, we will be able to plant bulbs and flowers again soon.

    Belle

Morning everybody. I got to sleep clear to 6 am. Yee haw! (LOL).

Jill, thanks for the e-card. Your mini vacation sounds nice.

Margie, thanks for posting the cookie recipe. Will try to make some of those and maybe some healthy type muffins to put in the freezer also. Am running out of snacks for first break.

Shirley, love the name of your travel group or whatever it is (Trips Ahoy)--cute name. Hope you don't get snow. Sorry Kassie is having to get so stressed out.

Darlene, glad you are ok. Sorry Ashley has to find new work and even sorrier that she seems to still be having trouble having to learn responsibility. Glad your computer is fixed. Sorry you haven't been able to be on much.

Cherie, how are your vacation plans going?

Lisa, are you getting any kids to watch these days? Hope so!!!

Sheila, hope your AC got fixed.

Kathleen, do you still have your duck in your back yard or did you find a way to get rid of it?

Patti, did you read on the one post that somebody had gone to an estate sale and found 200 canning jars for 10 cents a piece? It made me think of our resident canning lady.

I need to get some dirt and see if I can get any squash and cucumbers to grow this year and also see if I can get a couple of tomato plants in. If I dont do it this week, probably won't be able to. I doubt we will have 80's again until October (LOL). Can't afford tomatoes at the prices they are in the stores this year. Still have squash in the freezer from last year. The cucumbers never grew last year. ALso might try a watermelon or two. They did good last year..

Belle, your garden always sounds so pretty.

Deb, hope Jackson stays this time :-)

Thanks to everybody for the prayers for the interview. It will be long, so don't worry if I don't get back on until late. It is at 2 pm my time, so 5 pm Eastern time. There are actually 2. The first one is from 2-2:30 and is with the Human Resources lady. The second one is from 2:30 to 3:30 and is with the previous supervisor I had on the float team. After that if I get the job I am going to the employee health building to get the skin test (again because registry paid for the first one) and probably the drug test. Might still have to have a physical and not sure if that will have to go into next week or not. Was hoping to get orientation and computerized charting done next week. If I can't, I'm going to have to take some vacation days later in the month to get my 6 shifts in and I might have to work 2 Sundays in a row to get my weekend shifts in. Not sure about that.

Re: June Cleaver Club Wednesday 4/30/08

I meant to say Margie that we were very slow in getting hospice for Gregg because we had heard from a friend who had Blue Cross insurance and also had our pastors oxygen business for a medical supplier like we did that if you signed up for hospice the insurance would no longer cover the other charges. It turned out to be wrong, the insurance covered it on a case for case basis. By the time we actually got hospice, it was the day before he died. I have to say this hospice was Banner Hospice, same company the interview is with, but the hospital rather than hospice. Anyway, they were absolutely wonderful. Gave me Ativan and morphine to help keep him calm and pain free, wonderful support, came out and pronounced him, called the doctor, even gave me a list of funeral homes, locations, phone numbers, prices (never knew there was such a difference, some of them really ream you). They were very caring, supportive people. I am only sorry that I did not sign up sooner for it. By the time they got to the house, they said he was actively dying and wouldn't make it through the night. He did make it through the night, but died the next morning.

Jessica, I worked for this place for 8 years, but had to quit temporarily after Gregg died, was out of nursing for a year while I tried to get my immune system boosted back up from the years of way too many hours and way too much stress from two jobs and a sick mom and husband and the stress from Gregg's relatives. A lot of that is not around any more. Anyway, it is a good hospital, they know me well and I know them. My only concern is the computerized charting, but their educational opportunities are bar none. They took a chance on me when I was fresh out of nursing school with no related experience and they are the ones who really trained me into the nurse I am. They have their issues, but it is a great place to work. Tried to get back to the unit based team I has on previously last year, but they only needed night nurses at the time. DOn't like night shift at the hospital. They have said I can request to work that floor as much as possible. If there is an issue with me getting back there it will be the work I missed the last year I was there which was related to FMLA taking care of Gregg the last two weeks he was alive, the time I was out because of my knee surgery, and the horrible bout of bronchitis I had that lasted for like 3 months off and on after Gregg died. That was why I quit. Some of the doctors have been wanting me to go back for a long time. Registry has always been a temporary solution. I am just fed up with not getting enough hours. This will mean I will probably have to work Christmas and NEw Years every year, but I don't really care. Thanksgiving is the most important holiday now as far as my schedule goes because that is when I go to Indiana to see my brothers. Christmas is pretty much a lonely day now anyway, so I am better off working at the hospital where I can actually help somebody.

Sorry to be so long winded. Need to go to the bank and the post office now. Might stop by the other thrift store and see if I can find any more apple things very cheaply :-) or might see if I can stop by Habitat store and get the one load of baseboards they have for the living room and hallway and maybe the kitchen.
