    Coffee  Good Morning Everyone!!!  Coffee

Coffee  Michelle, you might be on that much needed day off, but if you are working.....Good Morning!!  Coffee  I am on my first cup of coffee almost ready for the second cup!!  Coffee   Anyone else ready for coffee?? Coffee

Wilted Flower  I never ate so many oranges in my life!! I have been buying these small naval oranges at the store regularly that are so juicy and so good....I have eaten bags of them!!! Yesterday on the way home from the Dr., we stopped at the store for a few things and low and behold the oranges were buy one get one free!!  I have never enjoyed eating and orange as much as I have these babies!!

Wilted Flower  Doris, I love my coffee, but I also really enjoy Chai Vanilla tea...it is so good and so spicy.  I drink quite a bit of tea during the day and I can buy it decaffinated.  I never drank that much tea when I smoked, so when I quit, I kinda started this habit of drinking tea mid AM and sometimes after supper.  I can never hear our cell phone ring either. The first time I heard it ring, I wondered what it was!! LOL  I am sure now you will hear your cell phone ring....LOL!!

Wilted Flower  Hauke, have you heard from Heather? Just wondering how she is doing?? How many cabbage rolls did you make???  Stuffed peppers and cabbage would be a wonderful thing to have in the freezer for next winter....YUM!!

Wilted Flower  Marge, I hope you are feeling better too!!!

Wilted Flower  Joyce, do you have any idea when your surgury will take place???

Wilted Flower  Welcome to all our New People!!! I wish all of you a good, peaceful, productive day!!!

    Hugs,

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

    Good morning, everyone.

At least we are waking up to 40's, today, instead of freezing. Waiting for an afternoon warm-up to take my walk.

MARY, I like tea, too. I like Constant Comment or I buy peach tea crystals to add to a bottle of water. WM has many flavors for water and I like them better than Crystal Light. We have oranges, too, but have been eating lots of bananas and apples. Just waiting for the nice summer fruits.

Tomorrow is a Scrapping Nite at church. I may do a couple of pages, but mostly will be working on some cards with a friend.

Will be back later when more wake up.

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

Hauke - I hope you got a lot of cabbage rolls made yesterday.  You and your mom are so smart to think to do them in advance.

Nancy - Oh, my fingers were flying for sure last night.  From 4:00 until 11:00, I did transcription work.  My ears hurt by the time I headed home.  I hope all the blood work comes back good.  That waiting can get frustrating.  Have fun at the scrapping tomorrow.

Deb - I must admit, my fingers were hurting a bit last evening, but a couple of Aleve and I was good to go.  I think arthritis may be creeping in.  But the Aleve really does help.  I bet your hair looks nice.  A hair cut really gives us a new feel.  Good for you for getting your oil changed.  Its one of those jobs that needs to be done.  We are to have bad storms tomorrow.  Our temps keep going up and down.  I think we are to be back in the 70's today.

Zonebrat - I hope things go okay at the doctor today and the ulcer.  Good luck.

Mary - I'm sleeping until about 6:45 in the morning, after going to bed about 1:00 most nights.  So I'm still trying to adjust.  Maybe I just don't need more sleep than that, but I'm still tired!  You are doing so well with you cleaning. Now you have me hungry for an orange.  That sounds good.  The insurance has the day for the surgery as May 27, but I know how they arrived at that date.  I'm still waiting to hear back from the surgeon's office.

Doris - What a great idea for the place where your friend had her surgery.  I don't know if my hospital does that.  I will ask.  I'm glad she is so happy she had the surgery.  I first looked into it about 10 years ago and I wish I would have done it then.  *sigh*  Good idea to change the ring tone for when the hospital calls.

*waving to all those may pass through our door today*

May 1st!  The days are sure flying by.

We never got caught up at work last night.  I think there are going to be a lot of unhappy attorneys this morning because their work didn't get done.  I wondered if management had started rethinking their decision yet.  The boss of our boss said she is getting lots of phone calls every day complaining.  But I don't know if anything will be done.

    Morning.

When I went to bed they were predicting snow for this morning... and I am sure glad to wake up to a green world not a white world!   It's still raining - but at least not snowing!  It is after all the 1st of May!

Joyce, just think, if you'd have had the surgery 10 years ago, we'd never have met!  Hope today won't be so hard on your fingers or your ears.

Mary, when we make cabbage rolls we make them with a mixture of ground beef and rice... so we started with 10 pounds if beef and many heads of cabbage.   I think we made 153 cabbage rolls.  I know mom wants to serve them for her birthday buffet next week and I love that we can make them ahead.  We freeze them on cookie sheets and then this morning mom will put them in freezer bags.  Then when she wants cabbage rolls she can take out as many as she needs for that meal, put them in the slow cooker, add our sauce and forget about them till supper.  She's also getting company from Germany this month so she likes to have meals in the freezer.  Now Rebecca and I need to make some for us!   LOL

No word from Heather - but I now her plan landed so I'm assuming all is well.  She doesn't have a laptop so I really don't expect to hear from her until she's home.  It's just too expensive to call to chat - she has her cell phone but we agreed she'd ONLY use it for an emergency.

Nancy, I love peach teas too... in fact, I've found a white mango tea that is really good too.

I saw the photos of those tornadoes in the East.  What devastation!  Do we know anyone in that area that we should be worried about?

Well, today is May Day in Europe - a holiday in many countries.  It's also Ascension Day in many countries so that means it's 40 days since Easter Sunday.  We don't have these holidays here in Canada nor do you in the US to my knowledge - but there will be much dancing happening around those May Day poles!

So lets celebrate our lives today too!  Seems like spring just doesn't want to come this year... so lets party without it!   LOL

Time to start some coffee... I'll be back later.

Waving to all who will stop by this morning, especially our new gals.

Hauke - A very good point that if I would have had the surgery years ago, I wouldn't have met all you wonderful ladies and that would have been such a loss.  I'm so grateful for all of you in my life.  I'm glad you didn't have any snow overnight.  The only mention of today being a holiday was on Sunday at church.  Father said they moved the observance of Ascension to this coming Sunday so today was not a holy day of obligation.

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

    Good Morning Everyone!

The sun is out and it's supposed to get to 70° today.  I'm going to wash bedding and jeans and put them out on the line to dry.

Mary we don't buy many oranges.  I do buy them once in awhile for the whole wheat French toast with oranges recipe.  We had that again the other day.  It's really good.

Joyce is your surgery going to be at Carmel?  I see them advertised on the TV all of the time.  I sure wish I had your courage.  I need to loose a body.

Nancy you sure are a busy gal.  When we met you last year it was darn warm (like hot!!) in Wisconsin.  I'd like to spend more time exploring Wisconsin.  We had a great time the few days we were there last year.

Patti & I went to try on our outfits yesterday.  I keep saying dresses but they're not dresses.  They're seperates.  Patti needs some minor alterations on her top and jacket.  She looked so pretty in it.  I need to have my top taken up and about an inch taken out of the waist of the skirt.  Then they have to figure out how to enlarge the sleeves to get my arms into them!  I should have gone 2 sizes bigger.  Then they could take excess out of the bust instead of trying to figure out how to but extra in the sleeves.  The story of my life.  I wear a 1X top but have to buy 2X or 3X just to get my arms into them.  I'm so sick and tired of wearing knit tops all of the time.  I'd love to wear a nice blouse but no can do.  If the blouse fits my arms the body looks like Omar the tentmaker has been at work.

I got my hair cut this week also.  Joyce I'd give you some curl if I could.  I keep my hair really short to control the kinky curls that I was blessed (?) with.Stick out tongue

Kenny just came in to show me one of the pickets from our fence.  Last year we put that pretty scalloped, plastic fence all around our back yard.  The neighbor kids across the street were playing baseball last night.  The hit the ball across the state highway in between us and almost the full length of our yard.  It hit the fence and broke 2 pickets.  Now we have to replace a fence panel.  Needless to say neither of us are happy campers.  Those darn kids will be breaking windows out of houses next.  Plus there are several little kids behind us.  If that ball had hit one of them they would have been seriously injured.  I can't figure why the parents let them hit the ball out into the traffic of the state highway.  Good grief, they could even injure someone in a passing car.Angry

Okay that's my vent for the day!!

I've got to do something today.  Other then grocery shoppingConfused I'm not sure what I'll be doing.

Lucas is bringing those 2 people he lives with down for the weekend!!Big Smile  There is a shower for Patti on Saturday.  So Tom, Greta, & Lucas are spending the night and going to church with us on Sunday.  YIPPEE!!!!

I talked to Bill, our youngest, last week about when he's coming home for the wedding.  He thinks he'll be home Monday or Tuesday.  Another YIPPEE!!

And my brother Terry and SIL Candy will be here the Friday before.  We haven't seen them since last October.  Terry is Patti's Godfather.  Patti asked Terry to be the Crucifer and also the first chalice bearer.  So Terry will serve the wine to Patti & Jimmier after Father Minix has given them the bread.  That makes me kind of weepy.

I better get moving.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

Carol - It looked so nice out that I opened a bunch of windows.  It isn't quite THAT warm yet.  So I shut a couple of them for now.  Yes, my surgery is at Carmel Surgical.  I always look for my doctor, but I don't think she's in the commercial.  I don't know if I have courage, but I know I need to do this or I won't live to see 60 years of age.  I have so much to lose.  I just hope I can do it.  I'm going to work hard to do it.  I read about your problem with clothes.  Why can't we be overweight proportionately.  I always have to buy separates.  My behind is so much out of proportion from my top.  So if I find a dress to fit my hips, it is way too big up top.  So frustrating!  It is so funny, we women are never happy with our hair.  If it's short, we want long.  If it's long, we want short and the same with curly and straight.  I tell people with curly hair that I wish I had their hair and they tell m they would love to have my straight hair!  But it sounds like a lot of us on the board got our hair cut recently.  It must be the weather and spring arriving.  Have a great time with Lucas and those people that are coming with him.  *lol*  Things are certainly coming together for the wedding.  You must be so excited!

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

Now, I am hungry for cabbage rolls!! LOL  I love stuffed peppers too, but they don't agree with Mom, so I make them accordingly.

I got the closet in our bedroom cleaned up, the big closet, the vanity and the big medicine cabinet this AM!! More bags of trash!!!  The closets drawers, etc. look organzed...finally.  I have been putting this job off for years...LOL  Ron was commenting on my energy since I quit smoking....LOL  I said I would really be in good shape if my knees didn't hurt so bad...LOL I mostly just get real stiff and have sit awhile.

Joyce, wow, they have a date set for the surgury!!  I am so proud of you for going through with this. I know you wanted to do this for a long, long time. I know you don't see Guiding Light, but there is a girl, Ashley, who I think in real life just had the surgury and they are working it into the story line.

Ron was outside working on the tractor and came in all out of breath and said his back was hurting. He is resting now, but geesh, now what??? I said to mom, this is almost like watching a kid!! Yesterday his BP was so low, that the monitoring people called to see how he was doing. Thankfully, today his BP was more normal.  I think he was pulling and lifting with the tractor...which he shouldn't be doing in the first place... MEN!!

Wishing you all a GREAT Afternoon.  Almost time for Y and R!!  Want to hear something funny.  I have been dreaming about Adam on Y and R almost every night.  I dream that he is a real bad apple..almost evil....LOL  I don't know where these dreams are coming from, since I am off the Chantix now.   It is easier now being off the Chantix.  I have some cravings, but not like when I was taking the pill.   It is wierd.

    Hugs,

    Mary

Re: DC Conversation - Thursday, May 1st

Hello "gang" of friends!! Mary, that story of Ron sounds too familiar to me!!! My dh gets the lawn tractor out, and it sits on a large chunk of wood to hold up the end, so each time he wants to use it, he lifts up the end of the tractor, while I have to bend down and reach between his legs to pull out that chunk of wood very quickly. It makes me mad that he does this, just leave the darned tractor standing for pete's sakes!! Then he has to push and pull the thing out from under the patio and out into the yard before putting gasoline into the tank. It's so much work to just get the darned thing out and then later to put it back, uses up so much energy.  He is puffing and huffing doing this, plus he should not be straining his middle body portion either.   Scares me to death!!!!

Joyce, I think it's great that you are having this surgery, and maybe it's good you are doing it now anyway.  Many health care HMO's are beginning to require diabetics to have this surgery in order to stay on their health plan.  The Kaiser plan here in California, they give an overweight person 18 months to try to lose weight, and if they don't, they can charge them more doctor visits, meds, and will try to force them into weight loss surgery especially if they think it will save them money in the long run.   Or they cancel the person's plan.  Has anyone else noticed the "fat discrimination" becoming rampant in our country, especially in the last 5 years??

I haven't been cleaning closets at all, I figure I'll do that if we ever put the house up for sale, lol.  I can't bear to get rid of all of the "stuff" I have, but one day I'll have to nevertheless.  Mary, do you still save old stuff from when you were young, or did you toss all of that stuff away???   I still have a bag with the curls cut from my hair when I was a baby, for heaven's sakes!!!   My mother brought that kind of stuff with us when we immigrated from Germany in 1950!!!!   lol

hauke, your food sounds delish!!!  I'm interested as to what part of Germany your relatives are from??  My mother does not put rice in her "kohlroladen", and we come from Berlin.  Mother in law does now and then and she is from Bavaria.

It was 25 degrees here this AM, and later on a cool wind, but not as bad as the other days.  dh opened both front and back screen doors, but I was cold, so he closed the front up.   I still had to keep my sweater on, maybe I've become a "pansy" this year or something???

Waving to "You'all", as my son's girlfriend from Dallas says..........:)
