Good morning and Happy Mother's Day Ladies, Do hope that you each have a safe and enjoyable day.

With so many storms yesterday and today I do hope that each of you and your loved ones are all safe.

Dee enjoy your lunch with MIL and SIL today. What good news that MIL's chemo is going well for her and do hope that it continues that way for her. Do hope you guys are missing the nasty weather up that way.

Ahhhhh Helen, joining Connie in hopes that someone got a picture of your dismount. LOL Video sent to AFV would be nice .....may as well try for the money. **grin**...just kidding hon and sure happy that you was not hurt and had a wonderful birthday celebration with your family.

Connie those fresh eggs sure sound good and you sure can't beat that price! Are they the pretty brown ones? Just to only eat the brown ones as a kid. LOL must have been a spoiled one.*grin* No rain over my way Connie, remember we are in the middle.**sigh** Rains to the north of us and to the south so we at least get to see the clouds go by. LOL....do hope that you are enjoying a restful Mother's day.

Lin sure hope you are staying safe in your area with all of that rain and wind. Your dinner sounds really good. Love chicken fried steaks. Today I plan on makeing a small pot roast. Was going to use the slowcooker but decided to use the handy electric skillet instead......goodness you sure have been busy with you Blue Ribbon Fair Winners recipes. And yes I have tried several of the recipes. Will have to go through and let you know which ones. I have them printed out which makes it handy and loved the different color fonts that you are using. Its so sweet of you sharing them with me. :>)

Sure hope that Ruth checks in soon and is ok. Not sure how close those tornados come to her yesterday.

Deery do hope that you are enjoying a nice Mother's Day with your DD and family. How great to have them live so close by.

Ann will you be spending the day with your MIL as well today? Hope you ladies are being taken out for a nice Mother's day lunch.

Liz just read that you are playing host to Aurthor as well. Looks like that guy sure has a way of getting around here in the kitchen. What you say girls we kick him out.. lol....oh wishful thinking..........do hope that you find something that will give you relief from him Elizabeth.

For all I missed addressing today please know that you remain in my thoughts and prayers also. Just need to get off the putter for now and get dinner started.

Leaving hugs in the basket for all that needs one today.

well a girl can dream can't she. LOL

Blessed are those that can give without remembering and take without forgetting.

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day. Deery glad that you felt better after you had a nap and lunch. I had a nice Mothers day yesterday, both our boys called and got to talk to them, and the weather was beautiful, sun shining brightly, and breezy. Kerry made breakfast, we attended church, came home and he started putting the pool up and finished it last night about 10:30, filling with water again today, started last night and shut down for the night. So what is everyone doing this week and how was YOUR Mothers Day? Deery nice to get a gift certificate for Amazon. I am waiting for my gift that Kerry ordered. Ladies, prayers for those who were so tragically hit really bad in OK and Mo, such devastation, this has been a really bad terrible storm season this year. Tornado season is supposed to end the end of May, I just don’t think that is going to happen. And our hurricane season is to begin, Nancy are you ready for it? I am not to be honest, it was just to quiet last year and predictions are for a more active season. Guess all we can do now it pray, and I really don’t want to have to empty all the plants and furniture off our deck. LOL, ohhhh myyyy! I have picked two ripe tomatoes as of yesterday, tasted wonderful in a chef salad, and also picked my first yellow squash. Well I need to get dressed and start getting busy with house work and outside. By the way, I made Cinnamon Biscuits last night very late, about 10:30 and Kerry tried one then and really liked it, and two more this morning with some fried fresh eggs. Ladies I sure hope you all felt up to enjoying your special weekend though and those who are not feeling well are feeling better today. Hugs and well wishes to all of you for a blessed week, take care. ConnieGod Bless our Troops and Emergency workers!!

Sorry I did not make it here yesterday to wish ya'll a Happy Mothers Day so hope it was a good one for everyone.

I did make it to church and then home with Rose and family for a very good chicken dinner that  Rose fixed. had a real good time. Did not see my son's but Wayne called me Friday night and then yesterday evening Shawn called and wished me a happy mothers day and said he was sorry to be calling late I told him it was never to late to call me for anything,  He is going through a bad depression time right now and needs a lot of prayer he has had periods of depression before so sure hope this time is over soon.  but a least he is calling me now, he did go out side to make the call so his wife would not know who he called. Sure wish she would grow up.

We was under a tornado warning Saturday night from about 7 P.M. till 2 A.M. I was at the fire station for a dinner and music so we kept hearing the news that the fire chef was getting on the storms.

I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon for a checkup and blood work up hope she can figure out what is causing the back spasms I have been having for the last 3 days . well better get busy the washing machine is calling for me need to put clothes in dryer.

have a good day and I will do my best to get back here this evening.

Good morning Ruth, seems we are both doing the same thing, laundryyyy. Glad that you had calls from your sons as well, visits are nice, but sometimes just not possible due to distance and circumstances in many cases, but those danged ol’ phones sure do in a pinch don’t they? You can feel the love, hugs and kisses even over the wires can’t you. Time and money these days make it hard for many, and we have so many things going on before Kerry deploys after the first of the year, and time is flying, but soooo glad you heard from your sons as well. Missouri is one of the states having a terrible record with tornadoes this year aren’t they. I sure worry about my brothers and sisters up there, tis where all of them are, and then our oldest son being in Alabama and other son in the Carolina’s, well each of them get their share of tornadoes and hurricanes too.  Washing the Kia yesterday the wind bringing the water back on me, sure made me think of years ago when we lived down here and hurricane going through and getting washing with back lash of car washing then, made me wonder just how soon one will hit again. Well I need to change me laundry over as well and throw in another load and do some vacuuming also and sure need to dust, *cough, cough* You have a good day Ruth and stay close to a safer building when you have those warning going through, prayers that your blood work tests go well and they find what is hurting you. Hugs, Connie

Just a quick request, can't linger. We have friends from our church who left for China last Tues. with friends from L.A. They have two more weeks before they come home. As you may know by now there was a 7.8 earthquake there last night and beings I don't know their itinerary, just know they were going to Beijing and the great wall. Please pray for their safety....Bill and Beverly. I don't know their family only that she has a son here in the Everett area...don't know his last name and a daughter in eastern Wa. He has a son in Yakima but don't know his name either. We just became friends with them last summer so haven't met their children.

Liz, glad to see you checking in. hope your Mothers Day was great as well. Sure will keep your friends in my prayers, yes, I just saw this morning on the news about the large quake, must have been terrifying, quake of that size. Hope you hear something from them or about them, I did see many Chinese trying to use their cell phones and you could see many were having no luck, which is natural in quakes that size for the most part.  How is Duane doing today? Ruth, what a surprise for you, definately need to be feeding her more now  to feed those new babies. hehe. Surprise , surprise.  Connie

Re: PCH Kitchen May 2008 April Showers Bring May Flowers

Good morning all! Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day! Had a good lunch with MIL and SIL and her DH. Just the trip was a little nerve racking....it was raining pretty hard and COLD! Had a couple close calls with idiots and semi's! I thought with "wind advisories", high profiled vehicles are suposed to park it! I guess not but yesterday they should have been. Nancy, I sure wished we could have shared some ofthe rain with you...we've had too much the last couple months, flood watches and warnings everytime now. How did your pot roast come out? Never thought of doing it in an electric skillet! Deery, glad the nap got you feeling better to go out and enjoy a good meal out! Sounds yummy! Connie, we don't even have any dirt turned yet and here your picking squash and putting the pool up! It hasn't even been warm enough on the weekends to get the cabana up and I'm getting really impatient! I want so much to sit out in the morning with my coffee and watch my hummers (none of them yet either). Ruth, glad you had a good dinner with Rose. Hope your appt. goes well and they find out whats causing the back spasms....I know how painful they can be! Be careful doing that laundry and bending, don't want to aggrivate it! Ann, hope your busy weekend was an enjoyable one! Have a safe trip to the Dr.s and pray all goes well! Oh, Cupcake....you have me laughing so hard! Like Nancy said, hope you got it on video and send it yo AFV! So glad you weren't hurt but oh what a sight! See....if you had your fishnet stockings, they may have held you on *G*! Lin, when is dinner????? I LOVE chicken fried steak! If fact that's going to be a Tue or Thur meal! You have been so busy with all your baking and cooking, wish I could cook like before. Just don't have the stamina or stomach like I use to. I have to admit, Dave has come a loooong way in the kitchen so that helps allot! Hope your pain has eased up. Liz, how's Duane doing? Hopefully no more episodes. Did they ever finally find a cause? What about his BP dropping to low? Both Ruth and I know about that, right Ruth? Will also keep your friends in my prayers! Well, I better not chance it and try to back track too much more to see what else I've missed, afraid 'puter may locked up before (or while) trying to post. Need to get in the sahower and then break down meats we got Sat. shopping and get into freezer. One job I hate....raw meat grosses me out anymore but got some good deals. Hope everyone has a great day! Hugs,

    d.

Re: PCH Kitchen May 2008 April Showers Bring May Flowers

Good morning, looks like another day for company for me (DGD) and eating Mexican food today.

I saw on TV this morning that on May 15th. at McDonald's, you can get a free chicken biscuit with the purchase of a medium drink.A good deal not to miss.I don't care that much for chicken but thought I'd pass it along. My favorite is steak, egg & cheese biscuit from Hardee's. Seems like I've done a lot of eating of late and hoping I didn't gain back the pounds I lost, more than likely I did.Oh well, keeps me from getting wrinkled, doesn't it?

My DD called from the NC island where they are for a week; they'd been on tornado warning most all of the afternoon and evening. She didn't want to tell me yesterday, but I'd already seen it on the news, so if she hadn't called this morning, I was going to call.We don't use phones during storms and she had already called several times during the day.It was kinda scary all around me but it didn't ever turn into a watch or warnings, just elsewhere around this area.So that's all that I have on my mind this morning.I think I want to go to the theater or at least a long drive up the Parkway to see what else is in bloom.I'm a bit tired of being home and pretty well talked out too.WCBL.DGD just got here...

Hi Dee, come on along.I've plenty of leftovers left over.Take your pick.Good thing I have a dog visitor, saves me a trip to the woods feeding the wildlife, although crows pretty much boss around everything till it's gone.Hope they enjoyed that thawed rhubarb left from last year...Glad you are doing better these days, at least I hope you are.SYAL...

Re: PCH Kitchen May 2008 April Showers Bring May Flowers

Good evening everyone, do hope that your day has gone well. Just noticed that I have been "in the kitchen" all day. LOL Was called away from the computer this morning and just never made it back. Had a note started but just dumped it,......... was all old news. *grin*

My Connie what a treat to be eating nice fresh vine ripened tomatoes. That extra care you took with your plants early did pay off for you. And yellow squash too, thats wonderful. Our friend has zucchini that is eating size already but no tomatoes in this area that I have heard of. Even Hillary's tomatoes are not ripe yet. LOL

Ruth do hope that the doctor was able to help you with your back spasams today. They sure are not fun to deal with so sure hope you can find relief.............. So Goldie has made you a fur baby grandma again .What a treat. Bet her puppies are sure cute. Think I remember your saying she is a yellow lab.

Ann do hope that your trip to the doctor went well today. Did you get some of your other errands in town taken care too. Since the gas has gotten so out of sight we try to make every trip to town cover doc appointments as well as other shopping.

Dee it was good to hear that you had nice lunch with MIL and SIL for Mother's Day. Sounds like that was a white knuckle ride. *sigh* .........I ended up putting the roast in the oven this time Dee but a roast is really easy in your electric skillet.

Liz do hope that your friends from the church is ok there in China. Heard them interviewing a lady from the states that is visiting there and was hopeing it was your friend but then finely learned she was from Utah. Prayers going up for Bill and Beverly.

Lin , know that you have had a good day for sure with your DGD visiting. Did you two enjoy some good old Mexican food today? Do hope you did not have to do the cooking..................that chicken biscuit at McDonalds is not all that great. Today I was paying one of our gas credit cards and in the statement was a coupon for a free one. Well Bill brought them home for lunch. The only thing they put on the bun is the chicken and two dill pickles so pretty dry. Or was until we did some adding too from the fridge.lol

Well going to hush for now and get this one posted. Don't want a repeat of this mornings post. *grin*

Wishing all a nice evening and a restfull and painfree night.

Adding hugs to the basket and prayers for all.

Blessed are those that can give without remembering and take without forgetting.
