    Hi Girls,

Ruthie, hope your back gets better, just take things easy.  I know how you feel about the fasting blood work, had to do that as well for 12 hours but turned into14 hours instead.  You take care of yourself.

Lin, hope you enjoy your visit with your DGD, love Mexican as well as long as it isn't to spicy.  You take care and stay safe.

Nancy, hope you and Bill are doing well.  Did you have a nice Mother's Day?  I told my friend Tera we are moms to of course we just have furbaby children. :)  How is your Ginger doing?  Hope things are going well with you.  Anymore visits from the fawn and her mama?  Was wondering if the bird still had the paper towel in her nest.

Connie, sounds like you had a nice Mother's day as well, Glad you were able to talk to your boys.  I am very jealous of the fresh tomatoes.  Will be a long time before we have any.

Dee. glad to hear your DMIL is doing well with the chemo, it can really take a toll.  Glad your were able to have lunch with her and your DSIL.  Hope things are going well for you and that your are feeling well.

Elizabeth, I will keep your friends in my prayers, such a devastating thing to happen.  Do hope that you and Duane are doing well.

Well Jim and I went to his mom's for Mother's Day and visited with them for a while.  We got her a gift certificate for the local mercantile so she can get some plants.  She loves her yard and loves plants so she was very happy.  Other than that we were just busy with projects around the house.  Jim and I went today to the doctors for physicals and blood tests, just normal stuff but getting him to the doctor is like pulling teeth for sure.  We met up with his assistant and they took off for Sacramento for a few days for contract negotiations.  Went to Walmart for a few things and to fill a RX, gosh that pharmacy makes me soooooooooooo mad sometimes.  Had to waite an hour and a half for it to be filled and had to get back in line 3 times.  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr.  O.k. I feel better now.  Didn't end up getting home until after 4:30 this afternoon and I am exhausted to say the least.  Early bed time for me.  Just wanted to catch up with everyone.  Keeping you all in my prayers.  TTT Ann

Good morning Ladies, do hope that you all rested well last night.

Have you all noticed yet that we have a celebrity in the kitchen today? Yes, check out the featured members for our very own Ruthie!!

Ann glad to hear that you got Jim in for his physical along with you yesterday. Think I will have to drug Bill if I ever get him in. LOL........I don't use WalMart for my RX but have seen the lines at ours that just don't seem to be moving they are so slow. But hear the prices are really good.

Do hope your pain pills are giving you relief for your back Ruth. Best of luck with your blood work today. You and Rose enjoy breakfast out afterwards......I swear thats always the best breakfast. LOL

Bill just came in wanting help getting the trash together so have to make this short for now. Can't miss that once a week pickup you know. LOL

Good morning all!  Guess what we have under our deck...and guess who found them!  We have baby bunnies and Missy thinks they want to play!  We have put up chicken wire all around the deck cause the old latice slats are coming apart.  The day it rain so bad (Sunday) Missy got underneath the deck and couldn't get out....mud from nose to tail!  They are soooo cute and little, just barely fit in the palm of your hand.  Now Missy wants out constantly but can't unless we are with her.  With all the baracades, she still finds a way in.  I'm surprised mama is still around!  I told Missy that she keeps it up, she's going to find a new meaning to "thumper" (like she really listens to me!) Never made it to the cleaners last night....had cramps and upset stomach most of the day and when we left, we got caught at the railroad tracks for 20 minutes for a train that was not there...told Dave to turn around and get me home....just in time!  It was a looooong night!  Got a feeling wed. will be a rough one depending how much fluid I put on.  Sure watching my fluid intake now.  As much as I want to crawl back into bed, I need to get myself moving!  At least the sun is shining and supose to be a little warmer today!  Hope everyone is doing well and has a great day!

Afternoon ladies, glad to see some of you have posted today and sure hope the rest of you are just taking time to relax away or just busy yourselves. Dee hope you are feeling better and sure bet Missy is just dying to get out to those babies isn’t she? Patty Cake had one of her babies out of her nesting spot yesterday, standing by it watching is walk around a bit, I put it back in the bed for her. *grin* Nancy is is cloudy here, supposed to get some rain for the next two or three days, but so far nothing yet. I have been laying landscape cloth down around the pool and laying more landscape timbers on the edges and Kerry is going to bring home more pebbles and white rock this evening after work, got into me a mess of fire ants and shucked my shoes and socks right then and there, mostly on them, so I got me another pair of work shoes. Weed eating out around my flowers by the drive and darnit I knew that nest of ants was there and blonde me, duhhh, I stood right in it and felt something stinging like crazy, my shoes were covered and my ankles, dangit, dangit. So off came those shoes and I am beating my foot like crazy and head for the garden hose on the deck and sit in the chair spraying cool water over the foot. LOL. So came in and grabbed me a shower and put men deodorant on the foot and ankle, helps ease the burning and itching a lot. And dah-dah, here I am. *grin* Liz I have been looking at pictures of China and the devastation, wondering if you have heard anything about Bill and Beverly? Hope they are ok. Ruth may I have your autograph? *smile* Well I need to head out to the bank real quick and get me some gas money and Kerry too, seems that is where it all goes doesn’t it. Have a great day everyone, SYL. Connie

Re: PCH Kitchen May 2008 April Showers Bring May Flowers

    GOOD AFTERNOON!!!

Ruth, hope you'll be finding out the cause of back pain soon and given meds for it.It took about 15 years, at least, before doctors actually believed I had back pain and told me what it was from, only like about two years ago, I think. It is my constant enemy, like Ann's is also. It's something that a large percent of Americans deal with, especially from the service occupations, such as waitressing, hair stylists, nurses, etc.Hope you got a good breakfast

Ann, thanks, we did enjoy it.We had lots to talk about since these days she's got her feller attached at the hip and hard to talk alone. If I go to a sit-down for Mexican, I usually go for steak fajitas with green bell peppers and onions cooked in the steak pieces, with the shredded lettuce and tomatoes on the side, topped with huge dollops of sour cream and guacamole, so that's a very mild seasoning.Have you tried that? It's usually too big to want any beans or rice or dessert, so it's worth the higher price.Another thing that's good and not spicy is chicken nachos. It's usually listed under appetizers but is large enough as a meal.My SIL usually helps me because he's still growing and I can't eat much at one time since I got so elderly. Most of the places also have 2 menus, one for authenic and one for American taste. At least in these parts they do, so you might ask.

Nancy, Is it really hot there now? It's been so cool here at nights I have to heat my bedroom with my Vornado, since I taped over the floor registers and turned the thermostat off. It'll be 40s again tonight.I use my mattlesse coverlet, which is quite heavy and my lap quilt over that, yet to sleep. It's only been to hot (needing a fan on low) 3 nights. But turning off the thermostat lowered my electric bill $30+ and that's with added oven time.Hope your produce is growing well.It will help a lot. There were so many Seniors who applied this year for the Farmer's Market coupons, that I received a card for the first year ever, that too many had filed ahead of me and they'd keep my name on file. It's no matter about the $40 loss, because it's so far to drive that I had wondered where the savings was in that, unless I was specifically going there. No biggie, I've got lots left that I canned and froze last summer and Fall.

Dee, yes, baby bunnies are the very cutest baby animals - I raised rabbits a couple of summers after moving to VA.I bred certain ones for production of meat for customers, and special others were for pets.My most favorite were my English spots. They are white with black spots and patches. So darling and such good mamas,All my kids loved carrying around some babies, but had to be careful of farm cats.Hoping you'll be feeling better soon.

Yowch! Connie. You get in those ants every year, like the time you sat in them a couple or 3 years ago!So deodorant cuts the stinging?I wonder if it works on those killer hornets that think they rule the world. They don't much like hair spray and sure don't like hornet spray, but I sure couldn't find anything that made the pain stop, not even Bactine. That is a truly sad situation about the cyclones.I can't help but wonder since U.S. always helps any country with millions of dollars if China will apply it in this instance against the billions that U.S. owes China, especially since I heard at noon they're doling out rotten meat, and boxes with any country removed so the people think they're being taken care of by their own country.I wonder at that statement, if the poorest population can read.

Well, I went to doctor this afternoon and told her that after about 6 weeks the new med (drug) has not alleviated the pain in knees and back as she thought it might, so I have to taper off for a couple of weeks and when the pain gets really bad to go back using the Anaprox 500 (2x a day), she called it, but it's Naproxen 500 mg. and picked up another free sample of Veramyst that cut that sinus infection and nose bleeds to nil within 2 days, and on my daughter also. The dr. is also using it with great success she said.I went through month after month of that since late summer until a month ago.Was it Ann who had the lingering sinus infection? This Veramyst is a miracle, but very, very expensive. With BC/BS insurance, it cost my daughter $90 for 3 month supply, with a $25 coupon that dr. gave us.I gave mine to her to use next time. The new sample box had 4 coupons for $25. each.Dr said she provide me with the samples as I need them.Hoping this is gone forever...I hope I remembered details better this time, except I forgot about Deery and Liz on page 7, but think I already had posted yesterday, but just in case:

    HAPPY DAY TO ALL!

Re: PCH Kitchen May 2008 April Showers Bring May Flowers

    Good afternoon everyone.

Dee it looks like you just may have a hunting dog there. LOL Just bet little Missy sure did get excited when she found those baby rabbits. Are they little cotton tails or Jacks? Sure is good that their moma is continueing to take care of them. I have a real soft spot when it comes to little wild rabbits since having raised so many of them by hand on the bottle..........sure sorry you missed your date with the cleaners last night. Do hope that you are feeling better hon.

Ahhhh Connie not the fire ants again!!!!!! Ouch! Have you tried keeping some rubbing alcohol handy for when you get into them........it really does help wonders. We have a bottle on the back deck, one in the garage and one in each bathroom just for times when Bill gets in them and needs relief fast.........when Terry was here he kept a bottle sitting out in the boat to grab even faster. LOL It was cloudy here this morning as well Connie but now the sun is shinning bright. We have a 20% chance for shower today and 50% chance tomorrow. So far they are north of us and south east of us..........wouldn't you know. *sigh*

Lin the sizzling steak fajitas are a favorite of mine as well when we go to the Mexican place. Love to make my own tacos from them.*grin* Bill is more graceful and eats them the regular way. LOL He eats the rice and beans also which I really don't care that much for......goodness now I am getter hungry for Mexican and here we are with left overs warming...........yes it has been pretty warm here lately. Have even had to keep the AC on the past few nights....Really not looking forward to the real hot weather to be honest, makes the breathing alot harder but will just stay close to the AC and may start shopping either really early or waiting until night fall.

Buzzer is going off on the oven so need to head for the kitchen.

Wishing all a nice evening and will try to check back in later...........NCIS, Shark and Criminal Mind are coming on tonight so may be late. ......love the who done its LOL

    Hi Girls,

Dee, I bet Missy just loves those little bunnies, how cute I bet they are.  Hope you are feeling better today.

Lin, hmmmmm now I am hungry for fajitas.  I like the shrimp fajitas myself with all the other fixings as well.  Hope your change in meds helps, I know it takes a while when you have to taper down on one and start another.  I actually take Flonaise for allergies and I got a new eye drop but can't remember the name right now so with that and the inhaler if needed hopefully that will keep those darned allergies in check for me.

Nancy, hope things are well with you and Bill, know this heat will be hard on your breathing.  Just take things easy and do the things that have to be done in the early morning.  I do that as well, just try to get everything done before it gets real hot.  It is suppose to be in the triple digits here this week.

Connie, those darn fire ants just follow you around the yard.  I have never encountered them before but I bet they are very painful.  Know what you mean about gas, went out of town yesterday to doctors and had to fill up it was $89 to fill our tank.  Crazy stuff.  Hope Kerry is doing well.

Well today I cleaned out our closet of all of the winter stuff since it seems mother nature is keeping the warm weather with us.  Moved alot into the spare closet for fall.  I vacumed, dusted, mopped floors and did a few loads of laundry as well.  Went to see my DMIL and she took me around the yard to show me all of her flowers she got with her gift certificate.  They are beautiful, she got some that are called Magenta Moon and they are just so pretty.  Jim and I will have to get some when we go out of town this weekend to order new windows for the house.  We have a flower bed that runs along the front of the house but the kitty next door likes to use it as a potty box so will have to fill the blank spots in so there is no room for digging.  I was so exhausted when I got home from mom's that I just layed down for a while and was out for a bit.  Going to make some hot ham grinders for dinner so I can have them for tommorrow as well.

Ruthie, hope the medicine works for your back.  Hope your blood tests come back good as well.

Liz, hope you are able to hear something about your friends, still keeping them in my prayers.

Have a good night everyone.  TTT Ann

Morning ladies, made it to the chair, hope everyone was able to get a bit of rest last evening. Nancy I hope you get some rain today, see TX has some but not sure about you, heading our way me thinks. Prayers for all those in need, as well as our Troops and emergency workers. Liz have you heard any word from your friends in China? I read a lot about it, prayed for those who have lost so many children in the schools over there, what tragedy and what is to come. So much happening this year with the cyclone hitting one place, China’s large quake and the tornadoes here in the States to name a few. Kerry has played doctor for me this morning, gave me one of his cruller donuts and my leg cramp medicine, well I did not get to it in time and ended up about in Kerrys arms to the floor. So I am going to be lazy today and stay inside, but would like to get to the library to get me a couple books to lay and read and nap. Lin hope you are resting up from your enjoyable visit with family. Deery are you having sunshine today? Nancy take care with this hot weather that is hitting our weather, hate to say it hon, but it is here for a while and going to get hotter isn’t it. *smile* The ant bites are yucky this AM. How are all the babies doing today? Baby bunnies, puppies and my kitties, oh myyy, we have a kitchen full don’t we? Received a email from Marie and she said they are busy all this week except for Wed evening, and I figure they will be busy today as well. Well ladies, I am getting off here and going to lay back down, have a good day and prayers for our PCH family. Hugs, Connie

Good morning to all. I see this is a day for slow movement, taking all that time to log in and then this page wouldn't come up without refreshing, then to post a reply, had to refresh again. It's just total nonsense. I'll be gone for 3 months probably, so maybe it'll be fixed by then. If not, doubt I'll come back at all. Besides a chunk of my time spent helping with Bobby, and a vacation in August, (like the beach), I am making a quilt for a few hundred $ CakeGift that has a short date, so I won't be on the computer (or watching TV) during that time at all, starting today. I got a bunch of the pieces cut out already. Just thought you'd want to know before I disappeared. I seem to have a problem getting e-mails to arrive at Nancy's address. It'll be a perfect time to get my computer cleaned and space added. Hope you all have great summer days ahead and no more storms wiping out areas adding to people's miseries that are already at the bursting point for so many. Hugs... See you on down the road.Automobile

Hi Lin, you will be missed. But sounds like you will be busy. Enjoy that summer vacation. Getting on this BB can be a real struggle and time waster for sure. Ugh!

Hi Connie, sure hated that you got in those fire ants, Think we need the bubble wrap for you gal. Ruth, do you have any extra bubble left over? (((Connie))) Take care.

We sure do have a lot of new furbabies in the Kitchen. Bunnies sound cute. Think I would like to play with those new romping puppies. But imagine they are kind of quiet yet. What a surprise for you Ruth. Dee, guess bunnies were a surprise also. Have you had them around other years? Connie, do kitties have their eyes open yet?

Hi Nancy, Ann and Elizabeth. Was supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees today. Got up to 70 but is overcast. Maybe sun will come out later.
