~~~~MAY 2008 ~~ SS THANK-YOU POST ~~~~

I'll go ahead and start the post since I have one very prompt Secret Sister!  I got a notice a few days ago that there was a box for me at the post office.  Then a couple of days later, I received a box that was something I had ordered.  I thought that was it.  Then, on Thurs (yesterday) morning, I got a FINAL notice that I had a box to be picked up at the PO.  So, I went to pick it up and it was from sis.  Of course, I had to saw through the box with my keys (sis, you sure used a lot of tape!) and get it open in the car.  It was a battery-operated water fountain with cute little birds that sit there and watch the water flow.  I'm listening to it now.  (Want to know something funny?  When the boys are in the room I have to turn it off cause it makes them run to the bathroom, LMBO)  Also in the box were the prettiest cloth napkins with napkin rings that are big beautiful flowers!

Way to go, sis, this is a great box.  It really brought me out of a dark mood and even got me to clean house.  My mom says it's about time!  And the boys say thanks for the great meal I cooked, they haven't had enough of those lately.

       This is a thank you for April to my SS as my computor is giving me fits so I'm at my daughters posting this heartfelt thank you. First  thank you for the card and i am feeling much better can drive short distances so things are looking up.The little angel magnet is adorable l think of you every time l look at it thank you for being so thoughtful.

      Also hope you enjoyed your getaway , enjoyed your letter. l've never heard of Jungle Jims but it sounds like a great place .Did you find a recipe for truffle oil ?

     Hope you got your herbs planted we had a frost 2 nights ago hopefully its the last one .

I just recieved my April mailing today. My Secret Sister sent me a wonderful "Think Green" bag, two great sun visors, and two types of Day Lillies for the garden.

So sorry to hear about your Dear Mother.  It is hard enough, but on your Birthday makes it even harder.  My prayers are with you.  I wish I knew who you are so I could send you a cheery card.  I will be thinking and praying for you everyday.  These times are so hard.

I received a unique cookbook from my secret sister today.  It is a cookbook from Arizona which includes recipes from celebrities.  It devotes two pages to each celebrity, one with a picture and bio of the person, the other with some interview questions of each and a favorite recipe.  I really enjoyed thumbing through it today.  I know I'll have a great time reading the whole book.  I found one recipe I will be trying soon.  Frango mint cookies from a former Scottsdale mayor.  I'll post it later. 

My ss knows I am a red hatter so she sends me cute red stuff.  Today I got a beautiful red stretchy bracelet.  The red crystal stones are set in gold colored settings that alternate from square to round shapes.  I will enjoy showing this off at my next red hat party, a tea. 

Thank you so much for both of these nice gifts.  Yes, I have used the spice mixes and would enjoy having more.  I do lots of cooking outside in the summer time, but don't get very fancy with it.  I do hamburgers, hotdogs, steaks, and sometimes some salmon.  I do enjoy picnics and we sometimes take a picnic and head off to a park on the ocean or a river.  Usually it's a river so my husband can fish.  We have a fifth wheel that we haven't used in several years, and my husband was out cleaning it today, so maybe we'll be doing a little more picnicking in the campgrounds if he gets it ready for the road.

Sorry this is delayed a day, I got a rally cute card from my sister. It has 3 sleeping cats on the front. Inside I learned her area is getting hot as is mine, hot... cooler and lots of wind. Her daughter just had her 20th birthday so she in my generation I am sure. I loved the thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANd yes, hubby is much better then last month.

I just wish the allergy system would get over here.  Anyways, thanks sis.

Chocolate Sis,  Once again, I thank you for thinking of me.  Especially, during National Postcard Week!  You took me back in time to a wonderful memory of time spent in Nashville!  Not only did we cruise down the Cumberland River but stayed at the amazing Opryland Hotel!  I just hate that we only get postcards for one week as I would love to see where else you are traveling.  Oh, yes, you said Branson.  I have never been there so don't forget my address.   

Dear Fred D Great!  Thanks for the puzzling pkg!    Thanks for always thinking of me, honey!  I love your notes!  Please don't keep the last bits of the puzzle at the end of this swap!  I really want to know who you are, you tease!  LOL!  No, I have never been to Alaska!  But have seen pictures!  Happy Belated May Day to you too!  You are so sweet!  I love the stamps you used on the pkg!  DS will flip when he sees them!  Super Heros!

Dear Yankee Sister:

I had mentioned in one of my last posts, that I was going to the TOH Cooking School, in Hamburg, N.Y.       When we got to the Box Office to pick up our tickets, the lady asked me if I had a secret sister???  Weird question??? but of course I answered YES  -  That's good she said because she was here with her son, and left this parcel for you.   Well surprise, surprise.

My Sister does not miss anything,   The parcel was for May 1st, and contained a TOH Grilling Book, a Vera Bradly change purse, the most beautiful silver bracelet with the B.C. logo and pink ribbon running thru it, and a Breast Cancer Angel to put on the Visor of my car, also my sister is a craft wizard, she enclosed 3 Key Rings, with little note books attached that she made herself.  The change purse will be used for my U.S. change when I visit the U.S. (which is often)

My Sister overwhelms me with her gifts and her generosity, and her thoughtfulness. 

She also included one of her home made cards, which is also a "work of art"   -  When I was opening this parcel, the people sitting next to me in the TOH School auditorium, got as much pleasure out of watching me open the package.    One of the ladies, knew about the SS group, but said she didn't go on the board that often.      I did my best to "find" my SS, but I wasn't successful.   

One thing that I have to look forward to is the "reveal" as she has already told me that she will visiting a friend in Canada, not too far from me, so we will make arrangements to finally meet.   I am so looking forward to this.

Many thanks to my Secret Sister, for making my trip to Hamburg, N.Y. to the TOH cooking school, such a wonderful experience.

Although I didn't win any of the "prizes" I enjoyed the show, and the chef with her wonderful recipes. and hope to go again next year.

oh Heidi!  What a remarkable experience!  I know you were probably completely surprised when you were asked if you had a SS.  How fun!  You'll be smiling about this one for a long time.

Looks like my SS had went on a vacation without ME!!!!!!!!!!   But I forgive her because she sent me an amazing package. The mailman put mail in my mailbox yesterday, goes to the end of the road and comes back by blowing the horn, I went out to see what she wanted , and she hands me this package. If anyone needs help taping a box my SS is a great taper, LOL.

Sis, I got this yesterday, but I couldnt get on the board last night for some kind of internet problems , plus I am having Refridgerator problems and can't get anyone to come out to check it soon.

My Sis sent a cute notepad & pen set in its own case for my purse, a pack of popcorn, (love popcorn, 2 big magetic clips and a clip for chips. Love the decorated racing  paper plates and napkins, (my Grandson thought they were cute too.) We love racing. Also there is a beach towel with the checker board design on it and even has the game pieces included. Two Taste of Home magazines, and a Recipe Collection for the Country cooking, wow! some great looking recipes. She included a t-shirt with Toronto on the front, a blue travel kit pack full with all kinds of grooming stuff  (for me to use when I go on a vacation) there was even a pair of blue socks tucked inside. Plus a BBQ lighter for starting a grill .

Sis, I have already been using the grill tools and the grilling book that you sent earlier in the year, been having some pretty days.

I hope you really enjoyed your trip.

  Thank you so much for the card and all the Hawaiian recipes!!!  I can't wait to make them when I go up north in July!  I don't think one sounds better than the other!  I'm going to make them all!  And if nobody likes them, then there will be plenty for me to eat!!  LOL!!!  I don't think there will be any leftovers though.  I'll have to make double batches so there will be something for a midnight snack!  Thanks so much!
