Grace- Hope you win the blocks! Let us know if you do. I am busy finishing off several tops for my sale this summer. I am going to make some bags for sale too because most people won't be buying the big items. So I hope the bags sell too. Good luck and happy quilting. Chris

So Grace, did you win the blocks? I bought some pre-cut off e-bay because they are hand dyed and I want to make a rainbow quilt. Let me know how you are all doing. Chris

Wink  Chris; no, I didn't win the blocks so will try again, next month is pin wheel block - we had a trunk show of a lady that just joined our club and she started out with I'm a quilt-a-holic and believe me she is. It was very interesting. she also wrote a book and said she never follows a pattern for her quilts - and they were very unusual and not the traditional. My favorite was a wallhanging (country) with three sections each had a road going opposite directions and one had a tractor on - next one had pigs and next one had cows. so detailed and borders on sides had big gold sunflowers..........

(your rainbow quilt sounds interesting)......... I'm busy with gardening now........... Wilted Flower Grace

Good Morning!  Just stopping by to say hi.  I posted awhile ago, asking for info on new sewing machines.  I did get one, I had an opportunity to get a used on from a school that discontinued their home ec. program (that's a shame).  It is a used Viking, about 4 years old, and so far I love it.  It is just as good as new, really good condition.  Anyway, I am making a small wall hanging, made while in a class for beginning quilters using different kind of blocks - it has 9 blocks, 6 inch square.  The class is over, I am not finished, and am hand quilting it - just quilting 1/4 inch around each square or triangle.  One of the blocks is a rail fence block.  How should I quilt it - to go around each of the rectangles in the block seems a little too much.  Would it look ok if I just quilted a line down the center of each section?  Im not sure about that either.  If I knew how to post a picture, I would show you.  I would love any ideas.  I am not sure how to quilt the board either, whether or not I should just do 1/4 inch around the edges, or some kind of easy design, or one line down the middle.  If I take a picture of it hanging with my digital camera, how do I get a picture on here.  Then you would know what I am talking about.  Thanks for any help

Betsy, How wonderful, you have a Viking! I still have mine (and use it) from 1963! Great machines.

As to the quilting, I would do a line down the middle of the rail fence block, it will look great. as for the others I would have to see them. If you copy a pic off your camera onto your My pictures folder you can copy and paste on your reply or I can give you my e-mail and you can send it as an attachment and I could help you. Chris

Grac, sorry you didn't win the blocks. Good luck next month. That ladies quilts sound beautiful. I would love to have seen them. I was at a funeral today and afterwards we went to a ladies home who does art quilts! They are real works of art! I like them very much and would like to try one. You have to think of them as a "painting" made with material instead of paints. Chris

Thanks Chris, I will wait till Mon or Tues and take a picture.  I will see if I can figure it out how to post it.  If it is nice weather, I will  hang it outside and the lighting will be good.  Sunday will be busy.  Have a nice Mother's Day.

Good Morning, hope everyone had a nice Mothers Day.  I did, best part was dd and her dh came home - they live 2  hours away from me, and I really don't see them much due to schedules and gas prices.  I love having them home.  They went back last night.  Here is a picture of my quilt I mentioned earlier.  Its my first quilt, a sampler with different blocks.  I chose a fall theme.  My quilting stitches are big, I am hoping I can get them smaller with practice.  I had a question about how to quilt the rail fence block, and decided to just quilt aroung each section 1/4 inch.  Quilting down the middle may have looked nicer.  I did 2, have the other two to do.  I have to quilt the boarder, and the corner squares.  Maybe I can find a small leaf pattern to do in the corners.  OK, lets see if I can post a picture.  I will try one first., then a close up of some of the blocks.

    Well, I can't do it!Sad

I have the pictures in my picture folder on my computer, and tried to copy and paste, but it won't paste.  How do I do this?  Help!!

I've been a sewing fool!! LOL I finally got both baby quilts done!! yippiee Than the one I had on the frame, I picked out the all the quilting, cause I wasn't happy with it. I got it all picked out & free motion quilted. Now to hand catch the binding.

I've been reading alot of blogs, someone made Pj bottoms out of vintage sheets. So I had a pattern for pj's & tryed it, my my are they comfie! Got 2 made in blue, have a dark pink & a floral sheet that I'm going to cut up too!!

Hope all have a great day!!

Good Morning!  Finally the sun is shining!  Yesterday was so cold - 33 degrees in the am, only up to the 40's all day with a cold rain/mist.

I put pictures of my quilt in Photo Bucket, now what - how do I get them here so y ou can see it?  I kinda wanted to get some opinions on how to quilt it - I am just learning how to hand quilt and didn't know how to quilt the rail fence block.  I decided to just do 1/4 inch around the edges.  I did two sections of the rail fence block that way.  Does it look ok that way?  Just need to know how to get the link here for you to look at.  Thanks for any help (from anyone  )
