    Coffee  Hi Everyone!!!!  Coffee

Coffee  I woke up a little too early this AM, but I slept well and feel rested.  We ate lunch out yesterday and since then I have had the runs. I don't feel sick though, but I don't think the resturant we ate at is always the cleanest.

Coffee  Good Morning Michelle!!  Coffee  How are things with you?  Our rhubarb is growing and I am looking forward to some rhubarb desserts.  DH has to limit the rhubarb, so I am thinking, instead of pie, I can make some other low sugar desserts.

Coffee   Doris, I think if we could have figured out where to put the chicks and baby ducks, we would have come home with some....LOL Gosh were they cute!!!! One couple brought their little dog in to see the chicks and ducks just to see what he would do....LOL It looked kinda funny.  The little dog just looked at them and looked like he wanted to "play".   I think its a good idea to take DH's Mom to dinner on Saturday instead of Sunday.

Coffee   DD is having us over for supper on Mother's Day.  My oldest GS flies to New Orleans either the Monday after Mother's Day or that Wednesday.  (12th or 13th)  We all want to see him before he leaves for his Internship.  I am still working, behind the scenes here, to try and get to WI.  My main problem is someone to stay with Mom.  My DD's are willing to help, but I wouldn't be able to stay the full week and would have to be home by Wednesday.  I didn't mention any of this to Ron yet as I am still tring to figure things out.  We have to find out too, if someone in his family can take us back to the airport on a Wednesday.  I still don't feel Ron is all that well to be gone for a week....Not with his BP so irrational.    I think he should wait to go anywhere until he is feeling really well for a long time. I am so afraid if he goes to WI alone of him getting sick out there and me not being able to get him home.  Or me being out there with him and he gets sick and I have to come home because of Mom. Either way I am between a rock and a hard place.  But I just wanted Nancy and Michelle to know, that I am still tring to figure something out.  I dread the thought of Ron traveling alone. I guess because I know and realize he is not well enough and his family is really not all that supportive, but more on the negetive side....the always looking for trouble kind....know what I mean???

Coffee  Today is Walmart and Hair do day!!!  Ineed to buy my Secret Sister something for our theme of a BBQ...I love that theme and have several ideas in mind!!!

Coffee  Wishing you ALL a Good Productive Saturday!! I really have to hit Mt. Washmore....I left that go to clean closets all week!! LOL

    Hugs,

Good morning Mary - and everyone else. Been steady here in the ER but not too bad. Keeping me out of trouble LOL.

Well, who do I email a new mailing address to??? I forget. I received a phone call last night from the owner of the house I looked at last week and offered me the house. Since there was nothing in my price range nor that will accept pets, I said yes. I'll make it work and it'll be just fine. I'm just not use to living so close to another house that's all. People buy homes like that all the time so I guess I can put up with it for a year or so. I'm looking forward to it actually. I hope Taffy will adapt ok. Just think, no more midnight winter driving!! Big Smile It has washer/dryer hook-up and a bit of a back yard that I can pretty much do whatever with so there ya go. I sign the lease on Monday and can move in gradually and organized (ya, LOL)

Well, better get the garbage. See ya tonite - still rainy here but that's ok, good sleeping weather.

    Lots of LOVE and FUZZIES!

Michele – That's good that you can get some extra cash while the lady recovers with her arm.  But I know how tiring it can be to put in so many hours.  Congratulations on the house!  Wonderful news.  Living closer to people will definitely be an adjustment, but to be closer to work is so great!  I'm really glad you got it.

Nancy – 6:00 to be at the hospital?  That is so early.  I was curious about the date my insurance gave me. I'm anxious to talk to the surgeon's office to get some answers but I have to wait for her to call me.  We had rain last night.  On the drive home from work, there was some lightening, but mostly just lots of rain.  Your flowers/planters sound so pretty.  I almost stopped to look at some at Kmart yesterday, but I didn't.  Maybe I'll go back over the weekend.  I hope you had a nice time at the scrapping at church.

Zonebrat – I'm glad the doctor said DH's foot ulcer isn't any worse.  That's a good sign.  I hope things go good on Monday.

Mary – I think I saw a commercial for the pill you mentioned.  Is it Januvia?  When I watched closely, I thought to myself that's what you were talking about.  It sounds good.  I bet the little ducks were adorable.  I'm glad you aren't feeling sick.  But having the runs is not a fun thing.  I completely understand your concern about Ron going to WI alone.  But I think if something did happen, his family would step up.  Say lots of prayers.  I think it will be okay.  But I do hope you can figure out a way for you to be able to go with him.

Doris – Yes, with Mother's Day being next Sunday, I'm sure all the restaurants will be very crowded.  Hopefully, you will have better luck getting seats on Saturday.  We had fruit trees when were growing up:  apple, pear, peach, cherry, also grape vine, strawberry patch.  The trees were always so pretty when they were in bloom.

Hauke – Good morning.  Any big plans today?

DUH!  Marge had sent me an email the other day.  She still cannot get in here.  She can do email, but not TOH or other Internet sites.  She had somebody look at her computer and they think she has a virus.  So she isn't sure what her next step will be.  So that's why we haven't heard from her.  Healthwise, she is doing fine.

Since I started working evenings, my brain doesn't work right any more. I forget things all the time.

Nothing special planned for me today.  Just regular cleaning and maybe some yard work.  I'm not sure what the weather is going to do.

May is the month for the Indy 500 and things have started.  The first Saturday of May, they have the "Mini".  It is a half-marathon.  There are 35,000 people running.  The streets are very crowded.  I'm sure glad I wasn't working today.  I made that mistake last year, so I made a note to myself to be sure NOT to work today.

    Hi Everyone,

We got back from Walmart fairly early...a little after 10 am.  Started laundry and am slowly putting things away.  It is warm and looks like rain.  I guess we are supposed to get storms today too.. Goodie, Goodie!!!

Michelle, good news about the house. I think its great that you will be living closer to work and you have a new beginning to look forward to also.  It is good that they take Taffy and I am sure Taffy will adjust just fine as long as her Mommy is with her.

Joyce, it is Januvia!!! LOL  It sounds almost too good to be true!!  This is what my doctor gave to a lady who quit smoking and gained weight and wanted to lose.   I wanted to go visit the little ducks and chicks today...but Ron said no....LOL

Well its almost time for lunch.  Better get a move on.  Be back later.

    Hugs,

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, May 3-4

Good morning-----------yep I just checked and it's still officially morning.

I'm sitting here waiting for Lucas to get here.  They're not coming as early as first thought.  Tom & Greta were afraid that they would have to stop and feed Lucas on the way down.  Good grief.  It's a 2 hour drive at the most and he'll probably sleep most of the way.  These 2 are ssssoooooo over protective.  They drive me nuts sometimes.  But I'm a good Mom and keep my mouth shut.

The sun is shining and it's in the mid 60s here.  Higher then what the weatherman predicted.  We got alot of rain last night but no storms.

I haven't done much this morning.  I did wrap the negligee and gown that I bought for Patti's shower gift.  I'm not looking forward to the shower at all.  I don't really care for the gal that is giving the shower.  She is Patti's matron of honor.  She's caused a bit of trouble for Patti with her "ideas" about what is proper and the cost of things.  She wanted to wear gold flipflops for her shoes for the wedding.Angry  I don't think so!!!!  I sure wish she had said sorry but right now I can't take on anything else.  Oh well it will soon be over and I'm biting my tongue until after the reception.

I don't remember if I told you or not but the Episcopal Church Women at our church are giving a shower for Patti & Jimmie on May 18.  They sure are a good bunch of ladies.  It has become my job to make Patti & Jimmie stay for coffee hour.  That shouldn't be to hard since it's my Sunday for coffee hour and Jimmie always helps us set up and take down.  I also used a bribe.  Jimmie's birthday is May 9.  I told him we'd take him out for his birthday after church on May 18.  Wink

Kenny is so excited about Lucas coming down that he can't sit still.  LOL!!  As we were leaving the coffee shop yesterday his great niece came in with his 7 month old great-great nephew.  Poor girl wasn't really sure who we were.  Said we looked familiar.  Obviously Kenny's family isn't real close.  Anyway Kenny had to pick up little David and play with him a bit before we could leave.

I had to go visit the vampires this week.  I have a doctor's appointment next Wednesday.  The vampire that drew my blood sure messed up my arm.  I've had a dandy bruise for most of the week.  This particular vampire has taken my blood before.  She must have been having a bad morning.

I sure wish I could think of something different for lunch.  I'm about tired of everything!  We're taking the kids out for Mexican tonight.

Guess I'd better get moving.  Have a good weekend everyone.

    Carol

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, May 3-4

Michele. congrats on fnding a new home.  I'm sure you will adjust to living near neighbors.  Hope they don't have young kids to keep you awake during the days.LOL  Does this house put you farther from your folks and NSDD?

Nancy, hope the handbell practice went well and you are all ready for tomorrows concert!!

Mary, can home health care come in 24/7 while you go with Ron?  I might have to come to your house for rhubarb-I'm the only one here that likes it so I don't get any.  I did buy some wonderful Strawberries this week at Meijers.  Man, are they ever sweet and juicy.

Joyce, hang in there, the Dr will call with the exact surgery date.  I'm sure the waiting is nervewracking!!   Good thing you remembered about the added traffic this weekend.  Danny is all set to watch the Derby later today.

Doris, have you been able to get out and walk like you used to do?  Your weather is still getting very cold at night.  I think spring finally came to my neck of the woods.  The storms started yesterday, altho we didn't get any serious ones.  Almost an inch of rain, tho.

Zonebrat, I'm glad that your dh's ulcer wasn't any worse.  Hope the Drs can work out the correct medication for it.  Seems like the more Drs one has, the more differing of opinion you get on meds.

Carol, I'm pretty sure that by now you have Lucas firmly planted in your arms.  That's funny that the kids didn't think they could go 2 hours without feeding him.

Marge, glad you are at least able to keep in touch even if you can't post.  Nice to hear that you are still on the mend.  Has the quiltting started yet?

We were the busiest I've ever seen last night.  Came home a tired, but happy camper!!!  We were also busy on Wed and Thur, so I'm hoping the trend continues throughout the weekend.  The results of my "ironing of my jugs" and everything was fine, so I"m set for another year.  Since the Dr hasn't called yet about my blood work, I'm hoping that means that my cholesterol didn't go higher.  I should get a report in the mail next week.  Sure am glad my week of medical visits is done, and I didn't have near as much as some of you.

We are having some sun peek out, but I'm sure more rain is coming.  The forecast is for  rain off and on for a few days.  Everything is green and the leaves are all coming out.

My sister called the other day, and we are planning a detour to Hershey, Pa on the way home from the wedding later this month.  I am really excited about that since I've always wanted to to there.  I will for sure be like a "kid in a candy store" since I LOVE M&Ms.  Mary, will I be anywhere close to you at that point?  I know we will not be there long as they want to get to the Ohio line to spend the night so we only have 6 hours to drive on Sunday.

Well, time for lunch-I'm thinking some cottage cheese with sliced tomatoes and maybe some more of those tasty strawberries.

    Later all.

    Deb

Deb, glad you are busy at work! As Michelle says, Cha Ching!!!!  I am maybe 150 miles or so  from Hershey which is on the Eastern part of PA. You will love Hershey, all the food, the Amish are not too far, lots of outlets and did I mention, great, PA. Dutch Cooking. LOL  Hershey is a real pretty town too and I am sure you will have a great time....But you should travel into Lancaster to see the Amish too.  If I had to pick a second place that I would want to live, it would be the Lancaster area.   I am working on a few plans for WI, just not sure how Mom will co operate with it all....everything is up in the air...still.  Home care will have to come to the house for 8 hour shifts a few days if my girls can't come home because both of them work.   It is so much hassel for me to go somewhere, I wonder if its worth it.  I feel like I am squeezed between a rock and a hard place.

Carol, enjoy your time with Lucas!!!  Alot of people recently mentioned the stress of weddings, etc....I am sure the wedding will be wonderful!!

We are have rain, but not serious rain or bad weather. It was warm here today and generally pleasant.

    Mary

    Hi everyone,

Went and got a few groceries and things at the mall this morning... and was home by about 1 pm.

Came on the computer to stop and say Hi... and got sidetracked with some "reading"  and one site led to another.

Actually, it all started with me wanting to check out this drug you were talking about and ended up with a large variety of websites.

Then I found this one - written as - Confessions of a Pioneer Women...

    http://thepioneerwoman.com

It's a really good site... and lots of fun postings

And then I found "THE STORY"...  Black Heels to Tractor Wheels - and I was hooked.

Here is the direct link to that story -

    http://thepioneerwoman.com/category/black_heelstractor_wheels/the_night_i_met_marlboro_man

But make sure you scroll down to the beginning... called  The Night I Met Marlboro Man

This gal knows how to write that is for sure!

And I'm sure you gals will love reading it - so grab a coffee and settle in for a good read - She's at chapter 33 as of April 25/08 - and every chapter it just gets better and better.

Enjoy!  I'm heading back there to explore the other parts of her site and I'm adding her to my list of favorite sites to connect to.

    Have a great evening.

Nancy – Have a nice time at the confirmation service tomorrow.  I'm sure the handbells will sound just beautiful.

Mary – Yes, the Januvia sounds really good.  Didn't your mother say she was okay with you going to WI?  If so, I would plan on going.  It sounds like she doesn't have a problem with it which is a good thing.

Carol – I hope Lucas and the kids arrived safely.  I hope the shower went well.  It was Saturday right, not Sunday?  That's so nice the ladies of the church are having a shower for Patti.  I hope she gets lots of nice things.  Enjoy your Mexican dinner.  Yummy.

Deb – I watched the Kentucky Derby today myself.  It was amazing the odds were so high on so many horses.  I'm glad you have had some busy nights at work.  Hope it continues.  I'm glad your "jugs ironing" results came out good.  That's always a relief.  Have a great time in Hershey, PA.  I never went, but always wanted to.  I bet the smell is overwhelming.

Hauke – Thank you for the links.

We had sunshine this morning, but it clouded up and got windy.  We are to get to 40 tonight and they said maybe even a chance of a frost.  When the wind was blowing earlier, it blew off some of the blossoms on the cherry tree and it kind of looked like it was snowing.  But there are still plenty of blooms on the tree.

I didn't get much done today, except sleep.  I did get a load of laundry done and cleaned up the kitchen and got things picked up over all, but I still have things that need done.  So hopefully I will be more productive tomorrow.

Howdy Neighbors! Seems like lots of us a still climbing Mt. Washmore!! I think the wash has babies at night, cause by morning there seems to be more in the piles!!! And we are just two lost souls in this house! deb, I'm glad you were so busy!! I think people are soothing themselves by going out to eat, or whatever. It's a treat, and the way this economy is going, we all need a treat, and deserve it actually. lol, I'm already looking forward to going out to eat for Mother's Day next Saturday. ha ha ha It's fun to not have to ponder what to fix and then to clean up the mess into the bargain.

Our rhubarb plant is growing by a few inches overnight.  It is amazing to watch it, and figure 2 more weeks and I can start cutting off stems.   I need to ask at the doctor appt if dh can have alot of it, come to think of it.   It has those enzymes in it that perhaps can mess up his meds.   dh likes me to just cook it with Splenda, into a thick pudding like sauce mixture.   He just eats it that way, doesn't need at angel food cake or reduced sugar cake.

Joyce, I'd be so darned excited now, I'd have to call up that surgeon's office and ask if they heard "something" from the insurance company yet!!  Heck, you have to make plans at work for this too.  Did you tell your sisters??  Or are you waiting??

We had some sprinkles and several thunders and lightnings roll over us just a bit ago.  I wondered if I'd have to shut down or not.     Michele, I hope you like your new place, and being closer to work should be a big bonus for you.   Is shopping closer too??

Nancy, when I glanced at your post quickly, I thought it read you had "handBALL" practice in 15 minutes!!!!!   For a second there, I thought, Wow, Nancy does handball, that's alot of good exercise!!   I wish I had a place to do that kind of thing here, but our garage doors have things on them so you can't bounce any ball off of it.  Like with a tennis racket for example.   Our sons tried to do that too.

Mary, I sure wish you could take a break and go to Wisconsin too.  You know, I keep getting told that caretakers can pass away before the people they care for, statistically, so my sisters in law always tell me to go do stuff away from home, but of course I never do that.  But I understand what they mean.   So if you can work it for a couple days away, it should do you both alot of good.  I guess you can't invite this son to your home for a 50th birthday party either?  Perhaps you would not enjoy that though, lol.   Sigh.

Carol, I hope you are settled in with Lucas by now.   What do you order at a Mexican place, what is your favorite??

dh is watching boxing on HBO later tonight, so I'll join him in that event.  It will probably be a quick one.    The Horse Race today was so sad, I had picked that poor horse that they had to put down.   dh and I like to just "pick" a horse for fun when we watch horse racing.

Have a good evening and Sunday gang!!!

    Doris

Re: DC Conversation - Weekend, May 3-4

Morning all. Drove by the house I'll be renting and suprise, a for sale sign in the front. I'm ok with that as it'll give me time to find something a bit better (hopefully). Anyway, here's the website if you want to see: http://www.northgoods.com/c21bestway/Residential_Listing.cfm?RecordID=79444 It's funny cuz I remember looking at those pics when I was looking to buy. Funny how I don't remember the sign in front when I looked at it to rent. Oh well.

Don't let the pics fool you. The ceiling tile isn't much to look at and the kitchen cabinets need painting and the stove is much darker brown - 70's brown LOL. It's old but assured it works. As I said, it's not bad, just not what I'm use to.

I'm planning to still rent it as I mentioned. If she does sell (which I really don't think will happen soon) I'll wait and see if the new owners will continue to rent it out. It'll also give me opportunity to continue to seek out something else. As long as Taffy can come, it'll be ok.

I'll be about 25-30miles from the family Smile and a block from downtown but this is a very small town and main street isn't much but bars and such. The two grocery stores are about 1 mile and right on the way to and from work (which is 2 miles from the house) so not too bad. One is a local family and the other is a County Market which is also a smaller chain. I'm about 40 miles from Sams, Barnes and Noble, Target, and Fleet Farm (not the Farm and Fleet that Nancy has LOL) vs the 65-75 miles before. There's also a Piggley Wiggly in the next town about 18 miles from here - if I so choose. They also have a WM so that would be closer than where I live now. Gas is usually 4 cents cheaper here too. I'm planning on doing my "market day" when I go in to clean church. I'll still have a drive 1-2 times/wk but so much better than 4-5. I won't be tempted to go out and shop or drive around as much either. It'll take some adjusting but all will be well.

    Later - Michele

Coffee  Its Coffee Time!!!  Coffee  Who needs a cup or two or three??  Coffee  LOL

Coffee  Doris, I think from housecleaning closets last week, I added to the pile pretty good, plus I changed all the beds.  It is easier said than done telling a caregiver that they need to get away.  It is true that we need to recharge our batteries, but the process of doing so is tiring too...LOL  I would rather go for a shorter time and remember having a great time, wishing it was longer, than have one miserable week of counting the time till we left for home.

Coffee  Michelle, the house looks nice.  It needs your own personal touch, but it looks pretty spacious and homey.  I would be over joyed to be so much closer to work especially with the winter.  I really think its a good new beginning for you.

Coffee  I have to go back to Walmart this AM for what I forgot yesterday.  I forgot my perscription, to get Mom a new set of sheets and a few other things.....LOL  I cooked supper last night, so I told Mom and Ron that I didn't plan on much cooking today....I need to attack Mt Washmore.....LOL Good grief do I have a pile....hope its sunny.

Wilted Flower  Wishing you ALL a GREAT Sunday!!!

    Wilted Flower  Hugs,

Good Morning Mary!!! Yes, I'll take 3 LOL. I'm sooooo very tired. I sure hope Shannon's arm heals soon. 6 nights in a week is a bit much for this "old" lady LOL.

Yes, I will really appreciate living closer to work come winter - and let's not forget those nasty 3-11 shifts. many's a time I drive home at mid-night thinking "it's nites like this I wish I lived closer to work". Get this, one of my friends in the Rose Room said that in her area of the country they'd get around 180,000 to 200,000 for that house. Can you believe that???
