Margie, if it wasn't so far away you could come over and swim and have dinner with me (LOL)

Pizza sounds good. Glad you got out of cooking again :-)

Morning everybody. Went to store and got a few groceries and my Augmentin yesterday afternoon. Made a favorite recipe I hadn't made in a long time for dinner because I had gotten a huge round steak for 3.00. Usually make it in cast iron skillet, but was trying electric skillet. Its better in cast iron skillet. Its sort of like a cross between chicken fried steak and smothered steak, but it is a healthy version. Had it with mashed potatoes and green beans. Today I am going to make bacon wrapped burgers on the grill, garlic parmesan grilled corn on the cob, and beans and for dessert homemade strawberry cheesecake ice cream. This is for the birthday of the Gregg's friend who has done most of the repairs on the house. Will hopefully get a swim in sometime today. Have not gotten to swim since Tuesday.

Hugs to everybody. I didn't put in to work registry tonight since they have never actually given me hours on Saturday night anyway and tomorrow afternoon will be busy…but did put in to work on Tuesday. Hopefully they will have hours for me. Have to run up to Costco to renew my membership and use my rewards check. Can probably get some tortilla crusted tilapia and another big bottle of calcium/vitamin D pils with that and maybe a little something else.

Have to tackle Mount Laundry after I get home also…and I'm still trying to get my desk back to a reasonable state

Have a great day everybody J

Good morning all.  Got most of the lawn  mowed, got my tomatoes and peppers and eggplant in the ground.  Just got soil sample tests back (did it kind of backwards) so need to put some stuff out to fix soil but not get plants covered.  :(   Will do some weeding today, more wash, and get Holly off.  She goes back to Va TEch for one last itme.  Has a week of senior activities, graduates next Sat and then off to Outer Banks for a short bit, has tx then starts work.  Busy but mostly fun time ahead.  Scott and Kristine go down too as they are picking up her stuff today and brinign it back tomorrow.   We'll meet them at Ginger's and all of us unload it and kind of set things up.

Had a nice time with Ed's conference.  Thursday went shopping with the other wife from our county and got a few things.  Had two big evening meals and just relaxed.  Have a pile of ironing I'lldo later.  Having dinner at Ginger's today.  Wow, another day of no cooking.  :)  Went out last night.

Margie, is your SIL home?  How are things going?

    Shirley, when is Kassie's prom?

Patti, hope you had a great anniversary.

Sherry, praying for you as things get worked out with hospital etc.

Hi to everyone else.  Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning ladies. Hope everyone is well this Saturday morning. DH and I are both up, We both did our  morning treadmill, and now are enjoying a cup of coffee. While I'm posting dh is reading the paper. Today, I have bedsheets to change, and laundry to do. It's another rainy day here, so dh won't be working in the yard today. In a little while I'll make us egg, sausage, and cheese on a hardroll for breakfast. WE're also going to bed Bath and Beyond this morning as well. My nephew and his fiancee are registered there, and even though the shower isn't until August, I want to get her gift today. I got a 20% off coupon in this morning's paper, so I figured I'd go while the list isn't picked over yet. She picked out some expensive gifts, so with the coupon it won't be so bad. I try to be fair and spends the same amount for everyone.

My oldest step son is in CT for the weekend, but is staying at his grandparents house. he called last night, and will be visiting us later today. WE haven't seen him since feb so it should be nice.

DH and I are going to church tomorrow, there is a mass for my parents. My sister has a mass everyyear, but since our father only died in October, this will be the first mass for him.

That about it for now. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Happy Saturday !

First I want to send out to all of you my sweet friends,  a very hearfelt thank you for the anniversary wishes yesterday.  ((hugs all around))

We had a lovely evening. We went to eat at a newly open pub and grill, excellent food and atmosphere.  Royce had prime rib and I had shrimp, and we shared with each other. We'll definitely go back there again!  Nice we had a gift card to use from there.  Royce's bro gave us one for christmas as Royce did some work at his house and of course would't take anything for it and so they did that for him for christmas.  Then we came back towards Fox Lake and stopped at our American Legion post and had a few drinks with friends.  We were watching the older couples dancing away (I'm talking like definitely senior citizens) On Friday nights, they have polka music and it sure attracts the "older" crowd.  We were home by 9.    (lol)

Oh, and when Royce came home from work, he walked in with a dozen red varigated roses for me!

     Here they are

    Aen't they purty?!?!?!?

This morning I have 2 tortes to make. The legion is having a pork chop dinner this evening and the auxillary is making the desserts.  So, I'm making 2 to donate and take up there this afternoon.  I've decided on rhubarb torte and eclair torte.  Got all the ingredients for them here, so I don't have to run to the store for anything special.

Ryan is coming over this afternoon, Ashley has to work, and then we are all going to the pork chop dinner around 4:30.

They are calling for possible showers again today, so, don't think I'll get outside at all.  Hope no rain, we need it to dry up some so we can mow and get the garden tilled.

Jill - i'm so envious of you and you having your garden in already.  This has been the coldest, wet spring here.  Everybody is behind.

Well, I better get in the kitchen and at those tortes.  Have a great day everyone!

    Hi girls

Happy Saturday!!!  Guess what?....No baseball games today -yipeeeeee!!!!!  Donnie was supposed to have one this afternoon, but we are going to let him miss it since he got invited to a birthday party which is going to be an all day deal at Disneyland.  I am excited for him.  He LOVES Disneyland!!

I am going to go to the gym later this morning and then walmart for a few things.  Ray is going to take Jason and Tommy to work with him for a few hours today so I should have most of the day to myself.  Tonight we (minus Donnie) are going to a minor league baseball game - the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are the minor team for the Angels.  We got tickets through Little League.  Since Donnie isn't going we are going to take my brother.  Should be a fun night.

That's about all going on around here.  No cooking tonight since we will eat at the baseball game.

Have a really good day everyone

Good morning everyone, it's cool here, (34 degrees at the moment), but at least the sun is shining...we've had rain and gloom for the past couple of days, so it's nice to see the sun! I just read the past week's posts and want to wish Patti and her d/h a Happy (one day late) Anniversary! Glad you had a fun night! Your roses are beautiful!

Welcome home Jill! glad you had a good time at the conference...I meant to tell you earlier that I think Scott and Kristine's puppy is adoreable!!!

Glad to see you back, Jan...hope d/h continues to improve.

Kim, I don't blame you for being upset about your Aunts...they sound selfish to me, and absolutely should ALL be at the party! Hope your sinuses are getting better!

Margie, my prayers continue for your SIL...

Sherry, you too are still in my prayers.

We're going to D/H's grandson's 3rd birthday party today! Seems like just yesterday that he was born, and now we're celebrating his "golden"  Birthday!

Hi to everyone else, hope you have a good weekend, and are safe from the bad weather around the country...

Good afternoon.  Thought I'd get on here tonight and say hey.  I was supposed to work 7-5, but they talked me into working a double.  I'm working 7am to 10pm.  The only plus is they let me have tomorrow off.  So, I'm on my lunch break and I'll go and have some more fun in a little bit!  What a day at work it is.  Started out both cake decorators called out.  So, they had 21 cake orders due by noon.  So, I had to help out over there.  I did 15, the other girl did 6!!  I wish I had my camera with me, I would've shared my artistry!  LOL!  Nothing fancy today.  And boy the customer problems.  Everyone wants something for nothing nowadays.  A guy bought a portable dvd player last november and wanted to get his money back.  The thing was beat to heck and very filthy.  Told him sorry, go to the manufacturer.  Probably needed the money for drugs!  It went downhill from there.  I hope when I go back things have calmed down.  Anyhoo, hope you all are having a great afternoon.  I'm sleeping in tomorrow, so I probably won't chat until the afternoon.

    Hugs.

    Cherie

Re: June Cleaver Club Saturday 5/3/08

I'm going to post those recipes here so I will have them all in one place (LOL). Had a nice swim already. Still in my suit in case I want to go back in. Still no 100's next week either, this is good :-).

Patti, love the roses. The pub sounds nice. Jill, so good to see you back. Missed you.

Wish you guys could all come over (though would have to make more food. I'm off to prep the burgers and cut the strawberries for the ice cream. Will have to make several runs as this is one of those countertop things that you freeze the cannister to in the freezer and don't have to do the rock salt and water thing. Got to watch the antiques roadshow at work at lunch. Love that show. One lady had gotten a cherry Chippendale table at a yard sale for 7.50 and it was valued at a whole lot more than that (LOL). Something like 40,000 or 50,000. They said it was made in London, but if it had been white pine and made in Boston it would have been worth 100,000. Another guy had gotten a Hopi pot circa 1830 for 3.00 at a yard sale and I think it was valued at 20,000. The finds some of these people find are unreal.

    Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

    1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 T. grated Parmesan cheese
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 egg
    1 T. ketchup
    1 T. Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 t. salt
    1/8 t. pepper
    1 lg ground beef
    6 slices bacon
    6 hamburger buns, split

    What you do:

Preheat a grill for high heat.

In a large bowl, mix together the Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, onion, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Crumble in the ground beef, and mix together by hand. Form into 6 patties, and wrap a slice of bacon around each one. Secure bacon with toothpicks.

Place patties on the grill, and cook for 5 minutes per side, or until well done. Remove toothpicks before serving on hamburger buns.

Garlic-Butter Parmesan Corn (Simple and Delicious)

8 medium ears sweet corn in husks (I only made 4)
    1/3 c. butter, melted
1/2 t. minced garlic (I used the jar kind)
    1/4 t. salt
1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese (the kind in the jar is all I had, and from the picture, that is what they meant to be used)

Soak corn in cold water for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine butter, garlic, and salt. Cook and stir over medium until melted. I did mine in bowl in microwave. Set aside 2 T. Carefully peel back cornhusks to 1 inch from bottom. Remove silk. Brush with butter mixture. Replace husks. Tie with string. I just wrapped mine in foil as I didn't have string. Cook over medium coals turning occasionally for 25-30 minutes. Remove from grill. Peel back husks. Drizzle with remaining butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese

Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream (Quick Cooking)

    3 c. sliced fresh strawberries
    6 oz. cream cheese
2 cans (12 oz. each) evaporated milk
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
    1 t. vanilla extract
    1 c. Cool Whip

Place strawberries in a blender or food processor; cover and process till smooth. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add evaporated milk and condensed milk, vanilla, and pureed strawberries. Mix well. Fold in Cool Whip. Fill cylinder of ice cream freezer 2/3 full. Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions. Refrigerate remaining mixture until ready to freeze. Allow to ripen in ice cream freezer or firm up in your refrigerator freezer for 2-4 hours before serving. Makes 2 qt.
