    (¯`*•.¸May 4 - 10, 2008 Secret Sister Chat ¸.•*´¯)

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women...your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!' But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about.

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world here is what I've learned:

    THIS SAYS IT ALL:
    Time passes.
    Life happens.
    Distance separates.
    Children grow up.
    Jobs come and go.
    Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
    Hearts break.
    Parents die.
    Colleagues forget favors.
    Careers end. BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

    Marcia ~ I love that...and isn't it the truth!

    Good morning to all the sisters ~ hope this morning finds you well and happy!  {{CJ}} & {{Laurie}}

Our thermometer this morning is a jaw dropping 34º! A few days ago we were 88º.

DGS had three games yesterday and one today…..sometime I’m going to get in all the mowing ~ I have a large yard/barn area to mow, storage buildings, Mother’s yard, Mother-in-Laws yard and one lot……I’ve got to get moving sometime or they are going to condemn everything!

This weather going from hot to frost warning is beginning to get on my last chicken nerve!

Let me tell you…..there are some wild and crazy people at these little league games…I promise….IF you could choke a fat woman I think Iwould have risk it....**justifiable homicide** (I'm sure ~ and she wasn't even from our team)….I know you can’t kill one with dirty looks!! *wink-wink* She was so loud, mean to that little boy and just plain rude!  I don't get it....those games are for the kids and for them to have fun ~ DH was on a call (truck vs tree) but when he did get back he  did talk to her and she calmed down.

I guess you notice the difference in HIS approach verses MINE? *snorts*

DH had an industrial fire at 2:am and I couldn’t go back to sleep….going to make some Mother day cards, iron and clean the kitchen floor….by that time DH should be home and it might be daylight to and I can see how much was bitten by frost….GRRRRRR

Have a great day to you all!

That was beautiful Marcia - What a wonderful way to start the day.

So sorry that so many of my "sisters" are having such a hard time - weather and personal problems - I wish I could be there to give you all a big hug, but being I am not please remember that we are all here for you and that prayers are being lifted for you all daily.

Well, being I have the Spring Cleaning done - EXCEPT for my "junk room"  I guess I had better get started on that today.  I have a couple of things I had gotten for my SS and I KNOW it is in there somewhere.  I don't have much time for finding it - But then I was planning to go out to eat - and shopping with one of my "Sisters"  So I guess I may get started on the cleaning tomorrow.  Eating and shopping is really more fun anyway.

Good morning sisters - Today is looking like it might be a great day.  At least we are having spring here for a change.  Usually we go from winter temps to summer - so I am enjoying this 70 degree weather.

I have been spending every day at the hospital with my daughter.  She has been in ICU since last week.  My heart is just breaking over the situation.  I would really appreciate prayers for her as I believe that prayer is truly the ONLY resolution to this.

Marcia - So glad to hear that Sterling is doing better.  I am keeping him in my prayers also.

CJ -  I am so glad that you and DH escaped harm in the tornado and my heart goes out to you over the loss of your home.  If there is anything you need, please let me know.

Linda - How is the job going?  Is your body holding up?

Susie P - I owe you a wealth of gratitude my sister.  Thank you so much for being there for me through such a devastating time.  Thank you also for your wonderful idea - I am truly not able to even think right now - I got right on it last night when I got home and will present it to her today.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Prayers going out for all who need them.

    Laurie

    Hello All,

I just checked to see who here was online, and there are quite a few sisters here.

Its still early here, I could be making something like cinnamon rolls (but I'm not because my back is hurting this morning)

The boys are being silly this morning.

girls are wispering in their room--- wich is right accross from my room, and each weekend morning all the kids want to be the first to see daddy and say hello to him.

so who watched that race last nigh??  wow, it sure was a fun one. I'm not really a Jr. Fan but I would have liked to see him win.

Really sad about what happened after the Kentucky Durby (the second place winning horse had to be put down because she broke both front legs)

    Morning Sisters!

Marcia~ Love the story and so true, being a girl with 3 brothers it was no wonder I was such a tomboy. How's Sterling doing I am still keeping him in my prayers maye next time you can give him a hug for me?

Mary~Did you realize you went to the wedding with me yesterday? I was looking all over of a silver necklace and spied the one you had sent me, it  also goes perfect with my earring for sons wedding next Sat. See Sisters know before we ourselves even know we need something. LOL

MsChickie~ Been there done that with parents of little leagues, now just think what kind of a child she is raising. "shivers"

RVgirl~ How did the shopping go? The catch all room is my pc room and I just cleaned it 2 weeks ago........if you saw it right now you would never know it. :)

Laurie~ I am keeping your DD and you in my prayers hon.

Well one wedding down and ONE to go,my day began about 5 a.m.. I had a appointment at 8 a.m. to finally get something done with my hair. Cut off alot of the length due to damaged ends so its shoulder length now and got it dyed a Chestnut color. Off we went at noon,it was a lil chilly and windy but my outfit had a long jacket so I kept warm. I kept thinking all during the ceremony how next week my baby will be getting married oh lordy is all I will say and I will be taking a BIG box of tissues! Looks like I am going to be one of "those" crying moms. We had a couple of hours break before the dinner so we walked around then went for a snack. It was a long day dancing the night away kind of day, I got home around 10:30 p.m.. It was a very nice wedding and reception, they had used cookies and cookie cutters as table favors, so cute!

Well I must run for now I have to make a few deliveries, I was the catch all for things last night for a few people and I need to return their items. hehe One was my brother so I get to visit with him for a few.

    Huggers,

    Sandra

    Good Morning to everyone-

It is a beautiful morning here.  Still a bit cool, but it is suppose to warm up to the 60's.  It better start warming up a little bit or we are going to be in big trouble with the snow pack coming down all at once.  Snowbird had 710 inches of snow this year.  I think most of it is still there.

Laurie- Prayers to your DD and your family.

CJ- Still thinking about you and sending you my prayers.

Today we are going to go buy some shrubs.  We are not green thumbers and we have no idea what we are doing.  But we will give it a try.  Right now we have pretty dirt.  LOL

    cookingkate-Hope you are feeling better.

    China-Hello to you.

Hope everyone has a good day.
