Good morning all. Just finished ordering. What a relief. Had a couple patients right away but now things seem to have settled down.

Slept well today. It was very windy and in the 50's with parts of sunshine. Went to the folks for dinner - was suprised when my mother called and asked. I took NSDD driving to the grocery and back. She did ok - esp since it was the folks full size pickup. She doesn't even seem to care I'm moving. Oh well. easier for me.

I sign the lease this morning at 1100. I know I won't be able to go back to sleep right away so am planning to bring some cleaning supplies and the carpet cleaner with and get started. I don't work tonite so it won't hurt anything. I'll bring Taffy with me tomorrow so she get's acclimated to her new surroundings. It's suppose to be nice all week so am planning to load up before work then unload after work. I'll finish next weekend.

I'm tired tonite but then wonder why. I'm starting to get grumpy which isn't bad considering that of the last 14 days I've had off 2 nights. I'm only off tonite until Friday then back to repeat starting Sunday night.  I'll be so glad when Shannon gets back but in the mean time, "cha ching!!!"

Well, I've gotta go move or I'll zonk out. Sending lots of love and fuzzies!!!

Coffee  I couldn't stay in bed any longer...I wanted some coffee!!  Coffee I slept fair, but am up a little too early, I guess.

Coffee  Good Morning Michelle!!! It is no wonder you are so tired working all those nights!! Congradulations on signing the lease on the house.  I really think it is great that you are moving closer to work, the stores and having a new beginning. NSDD might mind your moving more than what she is showing you. KIds want you to think they don't care, but deep down they do.  ((((Michelle))))

Coffee  Not alot new here. Hopefully it will be a productive day.  I have lots of laundry to do.

Hauke – I hope your dinner with the kids turned out okay.  It sounds good, especially considering you didn't have advance notice.  I hope I am able to figure out how to hook up the Wii.  I'm not very good with electronic hook ups.

Carol – It sounds like you had a very nice time with the kids while they were down.  I'm glad the shower went well.  The weather between Saturday and Sunday was quite different, wasn't it?  Sunday was wonderful.  Hillary Clinton was in our town last week, but I didn't go.  I think it was by invitation only, but I still could have stood outside Town Hall and seen her.  I wasn't even sure I had heard right that she was coming and I didn't know exactly when it was until I heard somebody in a store talking about the Secret Service being here.  Your lunch for next Sunday sounds so good!

Mary – Congratulations to Cody on Wii bowling so well.  I did the bowling once at a sister's house.  It was fun, but I'm not very good.  So I have to practice.  I have one more load of laundry to do myself this morning.

Michele – I didn't realize you were moving so soon.  Good for you!  I'm glad dinner at your parents' house went okay.  That's interesting that NSDD doesn't really care if you move.  I wonder what is going on inside her head.  I agree with Mary, I think that deep down she does care that you are moving and she isn't going with you.  Working all those hours can really wear you out.

I woke up too early myself.  We are to have another beautiful day today – sunshine and a high of 75.  I'll take that.  *waving to all those that come through our revolving door*

Good morning Joyce and Mary!! Sun is shining here too. I think it's suppose to hit 60 today. Ya, Mary, I tend to agree with you. NSDD was interested in seeing it on the site I steered ya all to yesterday. She said it was "ok" but was upset I couldn't take her cat with. Not my fault my mother won't allow it there. So ask one of her friends to keep it then. Otherwise I find a new home for it. She was also snotty about Taffy being able to come. Yikes. Oh well, I'm letting it roll off and not giving it another thought. After initial reservations, I'm actually getting excited. I don't have to be out yet but it'll take me probably as long as it'll take with the courts to clean the mess she left me upstairs and haul all that to the dump. YUCK! Gotta love adventure LOL. Well, ya all have a great day. Hope you can enjoy the weather a bit and relax with a nice cup of whatever you drink. Enjoy and I'll see ya tomorrow nite!

Hauke - What town/city is Heather and her group at in Chile?

Michele - Yep, too bad for NSDD that you can't bring her kitty.  I'm sorry you have to clean up the mess she left upstairs.  Just think, you can move to the new house and not have to worry about cleaning up after her.

Since a number of you have mentioned rhubarb, I thought I would post this recipe.  I also put it on our recipe thread.

    Rhubarb Applesauce

2 lb. tart cooking apples, peeled, cored, and cut into quarters
(scant 8 cups; try Jonagold, Northern spy, or Gravenstein)
1½ cups red rhurbarb (1 or 2 stalks)
    ¼ cup water
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
¼ cup Splenda Granular or to taste

Peel the apples, and cut into quarters.  Remove the core, and cut in slices into a heavy-bottomed sauce pan.  Cut the rhubarb into small pieces, and add to the apples.

Pour in the water and lemon juice.  Heat on medium, stirring often.  Cook until the apples and rhubarb are soft, about 35 minutes.  Stir in the Splenda Granular.  Store in the refrigerator.

    Good Morning, Gals....

It's good to be alive on a beautiful day like today.  We are at 65° right now, and will climb to 75° before the day is over.  Then tomorrow we should reach 80°, with rain starting in the evening and continuing for a couple days ~~ plus cooler temps.  All in all, not too bad.

I am going to Guild at church this afternoon and am anxious to go, as doctor's appts, etc have kept me away for over a year.  I am finally beginning to feel like 'going', but definitely on a limited basis.  Am going to do my best to keep this week quiet, as we are entertaining our 500 club on Friday nite.

We were invited to our DD#1 yesterday to celebrate DSIL's birthday.  If you can imagine, he cooked his own birthday dinner ~~ cooking is his favorite thing to do!  We had BBQ'd Country Ribs, Cheesy Potatoes, Mixed veggies cooked on the grill, Asparagas, Tossed Salad and then Lemon Luscious dessert .  Needless to say, no one left the table hungry.  And as expected, our little DGGD was the entertainment for the day.  What a cutie!  Had a chance to talk to our DGD and Paul, and explained that we would not be able to attend their marriage in Mexico on Dec. 1st.  She had already guessed that we wouldn't be able to attend, but was very understanding about it.

Michelle, I was surprised to learn that you are moving so soon.  However, this will give you time go at a little slower pace, and maybe not wear yourself out.  I cringe everytime you talk about your work hours.  DD#1 left her job in the city and now works here in town (no driving), but she works 3 nights a week ~~ 12 hour shifts.  She naturally loves her 4 days off ~~ but she always seems to tired.  Not sure it's worth it.  I know I could have never worked those kind of hours.

Joyce, just how soon are you having your surgery?  And, other than you wanting it done soon, is there a real reason for the urgency?  Don't mean to be nosey, but just curious.  I think I told you about a girl I had worked with having that surgery, and the doctor postponed it for about 4 months just to make sure she was ready for it 'mentally'.  In the long run, it was a huge success.

Mary, just what time of the morning do you get up?  I'm thinking it is showing Eastern Time, and we are in the Central Time zone.  It is always a shock to look and see that you posted at 1:27 (or whatever).  Since I'm such a night-owl, I'm curious as to what time you go to bed.  I know I have some friends that are in bed no later than 9:00pm, and are up between 4-5:00am.  Of course, to be very honest, I don't go to bed until the wee hours of the morning, but have already had 2-3 hours sleep in my chair.  And, sometimes even more!!!

Well, tonight is the H.S. Awards Night and all DH's (and committee) hard work will be over, and our life can get back to normal.  This awards program is separate from the high school, and was the vision of a man who just passed away in January.  The awards are made possible by the donations of alumni of our local high school.  The first year, they were able to award 6 $1000 scholarships, and this year will award 32 $1000 scholarships.  In the last couple years this program has really 'taken off', as classes have asked for donations at their individual Class Reunions.  We also have several Family and Memorial dollars donated, and the amounts seem to be getting larger and larger.  We are so happy the family of the man who envisioned this will be at the ceremony tonight ~~ I think this will be quite a memorable and emotional evening.

Well, I do have a couple phone calls to make before I leave for Guild.  'til later.......................

    Joyce,

I forgot to thank you for the applesauce recipe.  I will definitely give it a try, as I have rhubarb plants that are beginning to take over the back yard.  DH and I aren't especially fond of applesauce, but the remainder of the family is ~~ and I can share it with them.  Thanks again.

Good morning everyone, The weather is kinda gloomy here today. I wish I were home instead of at work. I understand Michele's apprehension / excitment about moving someplace where the neighbors are phyiscally closer. We live in a tract devlopement and on 1 side hardly see the lady of the house, her husband once in while, but I can say I like them, as for her son's & grandkids. Not so much. We ended up replacing the wood fence on that side with a stuccoed cinderblock wall a few yrs ago. (We paid for the whole job) For the explaination that we wanted to make sure that 1 of our lrg. dog's didn't make thru the fence, I don't regret it, since the grandkids would tease him. It's a revoling door at that house for that couple and her son's. The couple even will pack up their RV and stay at the local lake to just to get away from the house when one of the son's move's back home for whatever drama is going on at the time. The other side is on it's 3rd homeowner. The first 2 were kinda friendly, kept to themselve's mostly, this 3rd one. She would only talk to my husband, and he was alright to talk to, they got 2 puppies, one would always get into stuff, and his answer was to hit the dog, 1 too many time's and I complained. Now if their outside they will go in the garage or act like they don't see you. Oh well, their not the type I want to know. Well, I will have to check back in later. DH goes into foot dr @ 2 today. Hope everyone has a good day. Zonebrat

    Hi Everyone!!

It is beautiful here in Pa.  It is a little cool, but so nice and sunny.  A GREAT wash day. Yes, I hung a large load outside to dry and its smelling so good.

Joyce, thank you for the applesauce recipe.  I bet that really tastes good. It is ashame with Rhubarb and Ron's coumadin diet because rhubarb was always a favorite of his.  The doctor said I should make the pie, right after his blood tests and he could eat a small piece.  Now if only the rhubarb co-operates..LOL

Joyce, you will like the Wii.  I thought it was fun and its something you can do at home on your own time rain or shine.  The Wii's are very scarse, so it is good you grabbed one right away.

Hi Zonebrat....Welcome back....Sounds like you have some fun neighbors.  We have neighbors all around us, but our neighborhood is not what I would call overlly friendly.  The men all talk, but the women can't seem to manage hello.  It used to bother me, but now I don't pay any attention.

Hi Sandy!!  The time I wake up varies.  Sometimes I sleep late...till 6 AM and sometimes I am up real early or awake and can't go back to sleep. Glad to hear that you are doing better!!!

Doris and Marge...thinking of you and hope that all is well.

      Deb, Cha ching today????

Hauke, how was Sunday's dinner??? I am sure you pulled off a top notch meal on short notice.

    Hugs,

Re: DC Conversation - Monday, May 5

    Hello, hello, to everyone.

I know I read the posts this morning, and thought I had answered. But, then I remember we had a call from the hospital and I left the computer. Been out doing some yard work and lots of diminishing of Mt. Washaton. So, here I am. And, I had a really late morning ----and didn't get going 'til midmorning.

MARY, I was out like a light when you got up. I guess it's attributed to a bad night, too warm and restless, for sure. So nice here, too, my rugs were on the line, today.

JOYCE, I think you will enjoy the Wii and so will your nephews when they visit. I did bowling with Bradley and I need more practice. Seeing he will be with us most of the summer, I wonder if he will bring it with him. I will have to try the recipe. Our rhubarb has been calling to Russell and he wants his favorite, Rhubarb Custard pie.

SANDY, the awards program is a wonderful idea. So many kids need help with scholarships because tuitions are so high. I am on the scholarship committee for my Delta Kappa Gamma chapter. This organization is for women educators, so the scholarship is for girls who will become teachers. I knew DGD would understand about your attendance at her wedding.

ZONEBRAT, yes, some neighbors can really make the hair on your neck stand up. We had one family that was not nice. Right now everyone around us is friendly and helpful. When Russell was incapacitated they were a BIG help to us.

CAROL, the candidates always stop in Milwaukee and other WI cities. But, I stay away from the crowds and see them on the newscasts. You always make interesting dishes for your meals. Glad Lucas warmed your hearts, again.

MARGE, I know you look in, so hi and keep on getting completely well.

MICHELE, I didn't know you were moving that quickly, either. One day we will have to plan a meeting. I, too, think NSDD cares too, but is hiding her feelings.

DORIS, hope you enjoyed a good dinner for Mother's Day. We do a different day than MD Sunday, too. We don't need the hassle of all the crowds. Sometimes a cookout at home is a good idea, too.

I have my busy bag ready to go for tomorrow. And, we have to get up at MARY's time to be at the hospital by 6 am. Talk to you all later tomorrow.

    Nancy Z. Big Smile

Hopefully, I will sleep later tomorrow!!!LOL Lots on my mind and I woke up "thinking"....not good....LOL

Nancy, that is early to be at the hospital. But I would rather get up and go than have to wait at home.  I made the Neeleys, Roasted Broccoli and Cherry tomato's for supper tonight and God, is it good.  I am not a broccoli fan, can take it or leave, but this dish is fantastic. I could have eaten the whole dish myself.  I saved the leftovers from tomorrows lunch.  I like the Rhubarb Custard too and that is the recipe I always make.

We went to see Clinton when he was in St. Marys.  This is the first time, ever a President came to our area, so it was a pretty big deal.  I just wanted to see a President so I can say, I saw one in real life...LOL

Ron mowed and I wanted to weed eat, but my knees are bothering me, so I held off for another day.  Took my arthritis pill and rested alittle. Tomorrow I will weed eat.  Next job is to plow up the garden and get the onions started.  Early this AM, we saw a big rabbit sitting right in the middle of the garden.

Any of you see the hummingbirds??  I saw only one today.

Wishing you ALL a GREAT Evening!!

    Hugs,

We have had hummingbirds since late February, but some come early, stay a bit to eat and rest, and head up to the Pacific Northwest and Canada.  Then another bunch comes in early April, and they go up to just the Northwest.   So far we have one pair here, the rest are down in Los Angeles going to Disneyland first................:)

Michele, you are moving quickly, gee whiz!!   I wish your daughter would offer to help you clean up as a Mother's Day gift, darn her anyway.  Sorry, but that's how I feel about that.   Will you have to do the yardwork or will the landlord do it for you??

We made it up to 75 today, 40 for the low, and right now there are clear blue skies.  The best thing is no wind for a change, so the pine pollen can't fly.

I spent most of the day indoors waiting for phone calls from the transplant people regarding dh's blood tests, he didn't get the usual ones today, but they weren't clear as to which one's he needs on Wednesday.   And I figured out that the lab up here didn't have the correct orders, so they needed to Fax those in.   Always some kind of "hangup" lately.   Our next doctor appt. is next Tuesday so he needs these tests done before they can redo his meds and give him the correct shots mixture.

You gardeners out there, are you doing more this year because of food prices??  I was wondering, on the news today they showed lots of people planting gardens who had never gardened much before, and they did it to save money on produce.

Waving to all of you!!!  :)

    Time

Well as most of you have noticed I am not a morning person on the computer.

It was nice and hot here to day got up to 21 but the next couple of days is to be cloudy and rain, I live in a small town called Okanagan Falls which is in British Columbia, and we were not used to the weather that we had in April.

Was a busy day at work to day, then home made supper and now trying to get a few things done as we have a wedding this weekend, our adopted daughter is getting married and I am doing the food for 75 people, I love to cook, very simple wedding, appies and a cold supper, just trying to figure our what to have for desert besides the wedding cake, my DH is on cloud 9 as we have 2 sons and he thought he would never get to walk a daughter down the isle, Her name is Trina and we met a few years back and she has no real family to speak of and one day she asked us if she could adopt us as parents what an hounor to be asked to be her parents, and proud we are.

Off to the diabetic nurse on Wednesday to learn how to do my needles, and once I am on insulin maybe I will feel better, my sugars are in the 14 to 16 and thats with me being maxed out on my pills.

well of for a hot tub and a little tv then its of to bed, hope everyone had a good day, and again I just love this board.
