Overnight guests wake up to this rich, moist tread at The Patchwork Quilt Country Inn in Middlebury, Indiana.

    1 cup granulated sugar

    ½ cup butter

    2 eggs

    1-(8-ounce) dairy sour cream

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    2 cups all purpose flour

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    ½ teaspoon baking soda

    ¼ teaspoon salt

    1 cup chopped nuts

    ½ cup granulated sugar

    ½ cup packed brown sugar

    1-(6-ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sugar and butter with an electric mixer till fluffy. Add eggs and beat till completely combined.

Beat in sour cream and vanilla.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to above. Beat until smooth.

In another bowl, combine remaining ingredients.

Evenly spread HALF of batter in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with HALF of chocolate mixture.

Carefully pour remaining batter on chocolate mixture. Top with remaining chocolate mixture.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 40 minutes OR till a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Serve warm.

    Makes 12 to 16 servings.
