    Coffee  Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Coffee  I slept from about 7:30 Pm till just now....LOL.  Missed Dancing With the Stars....slept right through it...LOL

Coffee  Alice, that is a beautiful story about Trina. What a lucky girl she is to have you has her parents!! I am sure she has blessed your life too.  How nice your DH has his DD to give away at the wedding and how wonderful of you to prepare all the food.  I just saw a recipe for Mushroom Puffs, that sounded so good....maybe that would be a good appie for you.  Let me know and I will post the recipe.  Good luck with the Diabetic nurse.

Coffee  Doris, I am only seeing one of so hummingbirds and am wondering where the heck they are!!LOL Wish they would come here instead of going to Disney.  Ron says there is too many flowers right now, that they don't need the water, they have plenty of food.  I sure hope your DH's lab work gets straightened out. Gosh they always seem to have that problem.  Ron gets his Coumadin tested this week and the other blood work in July.

Coffee  Ron said yesterday, that he decided not to go on the trip to WI...right now.  I am relieved big time ,although, I am sorry too.  I had alot of plans going here on the back burner, but by the time I would get everything done, I would be exhausted. LOL  The plans are not the best laid plans.  We should leave on a Friday for WI, not Saturday, the day of the party, and I really think a week is a long time to be at someones house with no car and no way to get back to the airport if we decided to come home sooner.  He said himself, he doesn't know how he would feel in WI because here at home he rests when he wants and out there he would have to go with the flo.  Plus he has to listen to all his brothers and DD negitive remarks.  I am still hoping that it will work out for us to take a nice trip sometime to WI.  Maybe once Ron feels better and stays better for a long time a trip would be just what the doctor ordered.  So as of now, the trip to WI is off.

Coffee  Wishing you ALL a GREAT Tuesday!!

    Hugs,

Sandy – Your weather forecast sounds exactly like ours.  It really is a beautiful day here this morning.  It sounds like you had a very nice birthday dinner for DSIL.  For the surgery, I started this journey August 1, that was when I first attended the surgeon's seminar.  So it seems like forever and I'm anxious to get it done.  I told my regular doctor once that if I didn't get this weight off, I don't think I will live to see 60 and he agreed.  I'm 52 now.  I've tried many times to lose weight and have lost, but then always gain it back plus more.  So that's why I think I need the surgery to get it off.  I hope you had a very nice time at the awards program last evening.  I thought the applesauce recipe looked very good.  Please let me know if you try it.

Zonebrat – Hope things went well for DH at the doctor yesterday.  Neighbors can be so frustrating.

Mary – If I make the applesauce I will let you know how I like it.  I have only played the Wii once, at my sister's house, and I really had fun.  I think it will be good exercise, if I ever figure out how to hook it up.  I haven't even opened the box yet.  I don't have flowers that attract hummingbirds, or even have a feeder.  I need to get some flowers for them to visit.  I have a colorful "twirly" thing that I have out in the summer and a hummingbird used to fly around it.  I think the colors attracted him.  You must have been very tired last night.  Good for you for getting some good sleep.  I'm so sorry to hear that Ron will miss his son's birthday celebration, but he knows if he is feeling up to it.

Nancy – I was thinking the kids would like the Wii when they come over, although it's been a while since they've been here.  They do have a Wii at home, so I'm sure they would beat me in anything we did, but it will be fun.  A rhubarb custard pie sounds so good.  I hope everything went okay at the hospital this morning.

Doris – I hope those hummingbirds have a good time at Disney!  You and DH have so much trouble with the lab.  I hope he can get them done before the appointment next week.  I wish I had the space for a garden.  But I think also the critters would get to anything that came up if I did have a garden.  We had a big garden growing up and the fresh veggies were so good.  So I will visit the farmer's market on weekends.  I think they had their first one last Saturday.

Alice – How exciting about Trina's wedding.  That is a lot of food to prepare for the reception.  Good luck.

Indiana has our primary today.  The dogs next door were barking early and woke me up, so I went on and voted. There were only 2 people in front of me.

I think I'm going to try to get some more sleep.  I woke up a little before 6:00, after going to bed at 1:00.  YAWWWWNNNN.  *lol*

    Good Morning, all......

This is a truly sleepy morning, as I did about what Joyce did ~~ up too late and awake too early.  DD#! came over at 10:00pm last night to make bridal shower invitations on the computer (she is in need of a new computer), then we had problems with the printer, and after we finally finished with the invitations we sat and talked until 2:20am!  With her crazy work hours, it seems forever since we have had a chance to really talk.  It seems all my girls are so very busy these days, it's hard to find time to spend with each one.  But I keep trying.

Joyce, I will surely let you know if I try the applesauce ~~ I have to do something with all this rhubarb.  I found what sounds like a really good dessert in my latest Taste of Home recipe, and think I will serve it Friday night to our 500 club.  I won't be able to have any, but a little ice cream will suffice.  I can sure understand why you are anxious for the surgery if the journey started almost a year ago.  That's a long time to be 'hanging'.  You will be in my prayers as you proceed in this journey.  After all, you have a lot of livin' to do yet.

Alice, how wonderful to be 'chosen' parents.  Not to take anything away from your sons, but this wedding will be so very special.  I hope you won't be so busy cooking, that you forget to relax, enjoy the day and have fun.  Those special days pass way to fast, even under the best of circumstances.

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear that the Wisconsin trip is off ~~ for now, anyway.  I can sure understand the mixed emotions all way around, but it sure would be nice for the two of you to be able to get away.  Maybe something will work out yet.  DH is getting anxious, as his yearly fishing trip to Lake Chetac at Birchwood, WI is coming up in about 3 weeks.  I always had my week 'packed' with plans to play cards, luncheons, shopping, etc..while he was gone.   But I think this year will be a little different for me, due to health reasons.  My SIL, God bless her, has been my life-saver, and we may just plan a couple outings, depending on her schedule.  As of right now, I don't have any doctors' appts. scheduled for that week.

Well, I need to get the house straightened up so I can get outside and enjoy our 80° day.

    'til later, Sandy  Big Smile

    Hi all...

I had a great sleep too.  Was heading to bed at 9:45 and then got "sidetracked" when I could hear Rebecca's TV and House... so I went and watched the episode.  I had hoped to get up early like Mary, but it wasn't meant to be and I didn't really get mobile til almost 9.

But I knew today will be a long day.  Yup - it's grocery day and the list is made.  And with the price of gas (well over $5.25 a gallon here) anytime we've thought we needed something we'd say - lets wait til grocery day.  So the page is even longer of all the various things we need to do while out getting groceries.  But we figured why drive half way across town last week when we can cover all the miles today and just stop more often at stores and places (like the library) between home and the grocery store.

When I think of all the miles I put on last year doing DB's condo, I'm sure glad that gas wasn't as pricey as it is today.  And we thought it was incredibly high last summer.

Rebecca chopped our rhubarb into 4 last week and turns out we had 3 neighbors who wanted some rhubarb roots.  Our plant had just gotten SO BIG... like 8 feet by 8 feet when the leaves were all grown and it was totally blocking the sidewalk - so it was time to go chop chop.   LOL  Turned out nice that we could share with the neighbors.  It's a very tasty rhubarb but the two of us can only eat so much.

Sounds like Rebecca's ready to head out... so we'll see you later.

    Have a great Tuesday...

    Hi, everyone.

We're home. Everything went well. Thank you for the prayers and good wishes. In fact, the neurosurgeon has called already to see how Russell is doing.

    Hi Everyone,

Nancy, glad everything went well for Russell!!! I am sure you both are very glad to be home!! I hope Russell is doing okay and resting!!  You too!!!

Hauke, I read or heard somewhere, that more and more people are digging gardens this year....more than ever because of the price of food.  Ron plowed today.  I won't have a big, big patch, because what we had last year was plenty...just enough to have some fresh veggies and tomato's to freeze or can.  Hope you did well grocery shopping....

Not alot new here.  I weed eated and worked outside alot today.  I made Healthy German Potato Salad, cooked some eggs for salads and to snack on. I guess tomorrow I will start cleaning, not house cleaning, giving that a rest and just catching up.  We had a nice day here almost 70 degrees, sun and just pleasant.

Hope all is well with everyone!!  I bet Michelle is cleaning her house!!!

    Hugs,

Nancy, I'm so glad Russell is home and able to rest and be more comfortable there.  How nice for that surgeon to call too, that doesn't happen too often either.

You guys are making me go out to check the rhubarb again, lol.   I'm going to cut some this weekend, par boil it and freeze in bags already.   Then, if the doctor next week says dh can have some, and we will probably buy more strawberries, I'll fix some dessert up like that for dh.  I froze it that way last year and the year before, and it turned out well, especially with strawberries.  Even with those frozen containers of strawberries you can buy, they are sold with sugar or without or even with Splenda in there too.  I sweeten the rhubarb with Splenda with I cook it.   We haven't had a big garden in years, the growing season is way too short, and you have to run out there to cover and protect and keep stuff warm all the time.   It's cheaper to go to a produce stand down in the valley.

hauke, you like that "House" show too, dh loves that show, especially the main actor.

Joyce, I'm keeping good, and strong thoughts going your way!!!  :)

Mary, if Ron says he will not go, at least he can't be complaining to you that you didn't "let" him go.   Perhaps his son can visit you guys some time.  Would that be possible??  Or is there family strife that would stop that too?   Sigh.

We are going down to Oroville on Friday to take out dh's mom for Mother's Day for lunch at the casino.   We went there several times last year and she liked it.   She is sort of busy, she belongs to the Grange, and they have a monthly dinner they put on that happens to be on that Friday, at 4 pm.  So she wants to hurry to eat lunch, but the grange is not too far from that casino anyway.   She is one busy lady, so it's hard to set up an "appt" with her for things.  lol   Her Birthday also is on Sunday, but we want to stay home that day when things are busy.   Sorry if I've said all this before, by the way.

Tomorrow after that early blood test, I desparately need to stop at the store, will have to go to that expensive Safeway in fact.  We need our non fat milk, dh has been drinking it every day lately, so it can't wait until Friday.  Then I noticed a few odds and ends I could use until next Tuesday's trip down to UC Davis.   We can do the Wal Mart Super on the way back home that day, I hope.

Warm today, almost 80.  We were out doing yard stuff, seems the weeds just keep growing without water, fertilizer, etc.    We can't tell yet which plants died from the winter, have to give it a couple more weeks.

    Anyone heard from Annette lately???

Re: DC Conversation - Tuesday, May 6

Whew... glad today is almost over.

That was  tiring - all those errands - and I feel completely broke.  No, not physically broke - I'm just tired - but I know I spend more than budgeted.  But they had some really good sales on some steaks, Seattle's Best coffee, and lean ground beef - and they were not on the grocery list to begin with.  So I'm making hamburger patties and will freeze them so they'll be ready for the grill.

I think it's safe to think of getting the BBQ out of the shed and getting it set up for summer.  Will probably need to check if the tank is full as well.  I don't remember using it even once last summer since we were always at DB's working - so this summer will be different!  And I have a grocery bill to prove it!

Nancy, I'm sure glad all went well and that this stressful day is behind you.

Sandy, it sounds like you have your week all planned for when DH is gone.  I know many of us enjoy that break and the luxury of just looking after yourself for a couple of days.

Mary, I'd advise you to stay up later... this getting up at 3 am is for the birds!   I know you like morning coffees but they seem to be getting earlier and earlier.   LOL   Or do you just like to go out and sing with the birds and you haven't confessed that habit to us yet.  Wink

Michele, do you have a date that you have to be out of the old place?  The place you're moving into, are you signing a lease or is it month to month?  I'm wondering as I thot I remember you saying something about the landlord putting the place on the market.  I wouldn't want you to do all this moving and then be told you have to move in June because the house sold.

Alice, that is so special that you're adopted parents.  That means a lot.  I know.  When I was in Bible College I sort of adopted a couple as parents and they treated me as a daughter.  At my wedding, they were escorted down the aisle and treated as my parents.  My mom and dad loved them too - and even 35 years later they still connect.  For 20 years I lived in the same small town as these adopted parents and my kids loved going to gram-ma house.  My kids always thought they were so special as they had 3 sets of grandparents.  This year I will be as old as my adopted mom was the year I met her.... 1972... I've know them for 36 years this fall - and they've been 36 years of "special".

Doris, I so hope that place gets their paperwork in order.  I get frustrated just hearing of the hassles you guys are having so I can imagine how frustrated you must be.

Marge...  we miss you!   and your quilting stories.  I'm sure you'd rather be quilting than recovering, but I sure hope all is well in your world and that it's won't be long before you're back to creating your pieces of art!

Joyce, are you settled into the new routine?  I'm sure it will take a while for your body to get sync with the new routines.

Zonebrat, your stories of the neighbors makes me appreciate mine.  In my years, I've never has "problem" neighbors and for that I'm very thankful.  Having 4 kids... and often housefuls of teenagers I used to worry about being a good neighbor more than having good neighbors.  I'm sure there were many times when my next doors would have wished that the kids would be more quiet.   LOL

Well, I think I'll go see what's on the news.  and what's happening in the primaries.  It's probably too early for anything concrete - but I'm wondering... will this race ever end?   LOL
