    • Much love, good wishes, prayers, and white light goes to Nancy Z and Russell today for the quick recovery from his surgery.  Nancy, so glad you dropped us a quick note when you two got home to let us know how he was! You both were in our thoughts and prayers!

    • Grace-Anne is in all our thoughts and prayers too for her surgery.  Please let us know when you hear anything.  We have all missed her very much.  I know it is a blow to the family so soon after V’s death.

    • Thought for the Day- To think bad thoughts is really the easiest thing in the world. If you leave your mind to itself, it will spiral down into ever increasing unhappiness. To think good thoughts, however, requires effort. This is one of the things that discipline is about.-James Clavell

    • Today is International No Diet Day encouraging us to appreciate the bodies we have. You could consider it a "Big" backlash against becoming little (err thin), people. This day is intended for us to appreciate the body we have. It encourages us to recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes....... and that's okay.

    • Anti-diet groups exist to assist and support people who suffer illnesses like anorexia, in their efforts to shed fat and be thin.  In addition to anorexia, other medical problems can result from taking diet pills, and surgeries, such as stomach stapling, to control weight.

    • International No Diet Day is a good opportunity to reassess and evaluate your weight management goals and perspective and to make certain your efforts to be thin doesn’t come at a risk to your health. If you decide that continuing your diet is right for you, then use today to take a one day break.

    • Remember the old saying: "You're body is your temple." In your efforts to make your temple a thin one, do so in a safe and healthy manner.

    • Filling the prayers basket and hugs basket!  Don’t forget to add lots of extra prayers for Russell’s fast recovery and hugs for NancyZ!  Also for Anne and her family for strength to get thro her surgery!  I’ll leave a few extra baskets since it looks as tho we may need them for awhile.

    • Special hugs and prayers for Cilla, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Sally, Ruth, Anne, NancyZ and Russell.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • Mabel-How did you do with the oil people today?  Please be careful dragging stuff up from downstairs!!

    • JP-Glad your home!! Just jump in where we are and catch up later.  But it is much easier to catch up here than when we were on the main board.  If you want to send me the recipe for the bread and I will see if I can post it.  Let me know if you have my email or just send it to katz0556 at yahoo dot com.

    • Merle-Hugs and prayers for you and Lorraine!

    • Grace-So that is why Mama always added just a pinch of sugar to her tomatoes and okra.  I always do to put just cause Mama did it and never knew why!  You do live way up north!! Is it still snowing there this morning??

    • Tippy-I am wondering about Randi too! I do wish she would let us know how she is doing.  Don’t you dare put seeing the hip doctor off till June.  Please call him ASAP.

    • Beverly-pretty parrot.  Shorty wants the ball he is dunking tho!  He has one just like it but orange!

    • Beth-How was shopping??  Did you get everything you wanted??  Saved the table to favorites to check when I need it.  But of course when I need it I can never find it again.

    • Helen-Don’t call those feathery egg-laying loud things “pets”.  Especially if they wake me up at 4 in the morning on days Bob is off!!!  Also don’t believe they only crow at sunrise, they crow whenever they feel like it.

    • Lois-Your second post was much easier to read!! J  This BB does strange things sometimes.

    • Lynne-Hope you get scheduled for the MRI! How did you get part of your post highlighted with ivory??

    • Ruth-Glad you had a good trip too.   The bread sound good!!

My prayers are with Anne, and all of my cookin' senior friends, who are having medical problems.

Heavenly Father, look after Anne and all the Cookin' Seniors and their families, and friends who need your blessings.  Reach down and touch them with your healing hand.  In Jesus name, we pray.  Amen.

    Margaret

PS, I'll try to post more tomorrow.

    • Doreen-Sounds like Morgan is enjoying acting.  Hope you can get pictures!!

    • NancyB-Sorry about the jet lag!! Is the computer cooperating today?

    • Pat-Yikes you sound like you plan to be gone all summer!! Hope you enjoy it!!

    • Peg-DS sounds like he has a super Mother’s Day planned.  Good luck at the slots!!  I say go for the concert!!

    • Doreen-Maybe you should go visit Peg for Mother’s Day.  Hers sounds more fun!

    •  Margaret-Let me know when the community cookbook is published.  I love community type cookbooks.

    • Merle-Prayers for your Friend’s families.

    • Sandy-Have a good trip and see you when you get back.  As far as disconnecting you computer goes get some colored dots from an office supply and put one color on the plug and the same color on the place it plugs into then when you go to reconnect just match the dots.  No biggie!!! But before you start unplugging be sure to unplug the computer from the wall!! Also most of the places you plug the different components into are different unless they are USB connections.  I do mine every week or so just to sweep around it and rearrange the cords.  One more tip only disconnect from the back of the computer and leave the cord in the end so you will not have a bunch of cords you have no idea what it goes into.

    • Hugs and prayers for all!!

Beth, is this the Crunchy Pound Cake recipe you were looking for?  It was originally posted by KathyLu.  This is a review I found and thought I'd copy it and see if it was the one you were interested in.

I read all of the reviews about this pound cake and I thought to myself, it must be a great cake so I tried it and guess what IT IS THE BEST POUND CAKE I have ever eaten. This is a cake I will be making a lot. Thanks so much for the recipe and reviews.

    #T231262
    2 cups sugar
    2 cups flour
    6 eggs
    1 cup shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. almond extact
    1 tsp. lemon extract
    1/2 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients together for 10 minutes. Pour into a greased and flour tube (I use bundt)pan. Bake for 1 hour 10 minutes at 325 degrees, or until golden brown.

If you can wait for it to cool and turn it out on the rack, flip it when you can, as the top is crunchy. Oh man, this is the best ever.

    Good Morning Everyone!
Looks like it will be another nice day here. The birds are out on the suet and bird feeders starting their day. I better get mine started too.
Grace, thanks for the news from Anne.  She is in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
I am glad to hear that Russell’s surgery went well. Continued prayers for his recovery and hugs for NancyZ too.
International No Diet Day!  If I get some local strawberries, we can eat shortcake and not feel guilty. Sounds like a fun day to me.
Helen, don’t worry about nudging me to get the recipes posted. I try to make a list of them through the week so then I just need to do the posting. I like to do it on Sunday but I forgot and then life got in the way.
Peg, if we are going to be out of town, I may call on you to fill in for me doing the recipes.
Margaret, thanks for finding the Crunchy pound cake recipe. I may just have to try that real soon. That would be good with fresh local strawberries too.
Cilla, Please take it easy, I know you are not used to slowing down, but do take care of yourself first.
I will add armloads of hugs and prayers to the baskets as I repeat the group prayer. Special prayers added for those with special needs and have had recent losses among their family and friends.
They got our new garage door installed yesterday. Now that makes the fact that the garage needs to be painted really show. Another project, Oh Well.
Time to go for a walk but Jim is still asleep. I can find plenty to do till he is ready to go.
     Wishing Everyone A Happy Day!
I will also add a siggy that Anne made for me.

I recall that my mother always addedsugar to the water for boiling corn ears.  She also would not eat corn except the day it was picked!

Turned on the tv this morning and got nothing but lines so will call comcast to find out what buttons to push.  This is driving me nuts. I have the same setup in Fl with no problems.  With me something works or it doesn't - like a car, tv, etc.

I go to a new spine doc this morning - my old one left - so it is just a checkup after a year. I ain't no better!  Age is for the birds.  My mind is doing fine but my body has not kept up!  I think I prefer this arrangement.  Must be all the crosswords I do!

My best healing prayers for Anne.  I always pray for the surgeons, too!  Nancy B

A big AMEN to that prayer, Margaret!

Keeping ANNE in my thoughts and prayers today and the days ahead.

NANCY Z~~ Thanking the Lord for a smooth and successful surgery for Russel yesterday and continued prayers for healing.

I have young ones coming soon and my prayer partner and I are going to "try" meet anyway. We shall see how this goes.

This is going to be a nut-so week and weekend but will continue to check in to see how my CS friends and their loved ones are doing.

Waving to each of you with a lot of "chat" bottled up inside of me!!!

    Re: 05/07/08 CS's Chat

Good Morning I was happy to hear that Russell came through surgery OK but was sorry to read that Anne is having one. Will send a prayer up for her and her family. I agree that we need to pray for the surgeon.

Sorry I wasn't able to get on yesterday but it was to late after we watched DWTG and then I watched Law and Order Svu, then I went into my DD room to watch AI. I didn't want to click on CS and have everybody talking about it when I hadn't watched it yet. I was really disappointed in DWTS, did anyone catch that all the Judges best dances where from  the second and third place winners, Maybe technically they were the best dances but in my opinion they were not the most entertaining ones. I loved the dance that Drew and Cheryl did (save a horse ride a cowboy), and then the one where Elio kissed Juliane. I also liked Emmit over Mario Lopez, Appolo better than Joey Fontone, and Drew better than Stacy. I was glad that Christian is still in there, he was so good Monday Night and he did it all with only one arm. American Idol wasn't very good last night, I know some of you won't agree with me but Little David was the best out of all of them. Jason will probably leave tonight.

Margaret thanks for letting me know there is indeed a Cairo, Mo. Can't believe I grew up here and didn't know that. LOL Cairo Il was close to where I grew up.

My sister left this morning to go to Savanah, Ga, her DGD is graduating from College, she should be back sometime Monday or Tuesday. Will have to do my walking by myself or walk on the treadmill.

I guess I had better get busy and get some things done in the house, maybe vacuuming is in the forcast for today.

    Will TTYL.

Hugs and prayers for all experiencing special challenges. May you acknowledge and look to the Lord for everything you need from day to day.

I will be MIA again for a few days as I deal with work and take a 2 day course in First Aid. So I'm waving to you all. BBL at the end of the week.  ***JP***
