Having trouble with cable internet connection again.  Power went off and DGS hasn't been over to reconnect everything.  Finally remembered that I still have my dial-up available (DUH!)

Have been working all day at bookstore Sun, Mon & Tues - book mgr was having her first grandchild yesterday so had a lot to do - all the new releases had to be stickered and put out.  Plus had to stock everything that was pulled and replaced.

Will be going in again today to work on my "shifting" project.

Can't forget that lunch time is "hair-do" day.  Need to start gathering up trash so I can get that done before getting ready for work.

Hope all are well - grannie prayers going out to all !

Good morning Grannies!  I can't tell what it is to be like out there today.  It says 64* and partly cloudy, but it is still pretty wet out there.  It was almost 80* yesterday and we got a hard thunderstorm and then more steady rain.  Enough already!  My hosta look good out there.  I need to get some leaves and stuff moved out of the yard this weekend.  I am going to go and meet my mom on Friday for Mother's Day.  If I go to her house, she won't be home until late Saturday and I'd have to leave on Sunday a.m., so this will work better.  I better stop at the store and get a card for my grandma this a.m.  I'll be in and out, I am going to go in early and get my computer stuff done.  Have a Sonny day and blessed be.

Good morning to all this bright sunny morning!  Don't know what the temp is but I feel a little chilly.  Have to do my hair yet but figured I'd visit first.

I have some of the new bagels I'll share with all.  They are the bagel wrapped around cream cheese.  Strawberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and cinnamon bagel with regular cream cheese (I think).  Also cut up some grapefruit.  It is so sweet almost tastes like an orange.

Tonight right after work I'll go to the store for DH, then off to the shoe store and dollar tree.  From there to DM's apartment.  I'll spiff it up some so it is nice and clean when she gets home.  I always like to do that when she is gone.  I don't clean with people around.

Sue and Nancy will be coming here for Nancy's bd meal on the 21st I think they decided.  Now what in the world can I fix.  Any ideas.  It will have to be something probably crock pot because they will get here about the time I get here.  Another thing to ponder.  Maybe some homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade bread.  That sounds good.  Then I could make a jello dessert.  Maybe my cut glass salad.

DH like the taco chicken stew.  I even ate some.  Not overly spicy but did heat the mouth a little for me.  Strange I can eat it but black pepper sends me into orbit.  Stylist, I think you said you wanted the recipe.  I'll post it this evening.  It's very easy.

Well, I'd better move on and get this hair done.

    BBL.

Good Morning Ladies - I haven't read last night yet - Couldn't get the provider to work last night before I went to bed.  By the time I got home from my meeting, DWTS was already started, so had to sit right down to watch that - - Went like I expected-now going to be really hard to see anyone go.

We had a rain storm go through about 8:30 last night also.  Haven't heard yet how much, but came down hard.

Mothers Day just kinda of sneaked up on us I think - - I'm usually in the midst of thinging flowers at that time-this year, it's been difficult to think that way - - I look for it to be quite here-DD gave me a card with  cash in it to buy a hanging basket last Sun. before she left. She said the baskets weren't out yet when she went to look, and then later when she was getting ready to leave, she didn't have time to go look.. I said it was just as well, to wait a bit anyway, the way the weather has been. The kids said they didn't know about what they would do last week-end, and I said that was fine-this year there were lots of things to do and get ready and expenses, so it would be just fine.

I think I have a free evening today, so maybe I will finish wrapping the candy bars that I picked up again.  That shouldn't take long, and would be done.

Looks like there could be more rain.

     Good Morning...

Just a quick fly by as I over slept.  This cold is really getting to me and I just couldn't get up this morning.  Getting ready for the nature center today and it looks like it might be a fairly decent day.  The rain should hold off til we are done this afternoon.  Then tomorrow looks better too.  So hope it's nice for the farm day.

I figured it would be Mario leaving last night.  But they are all good.

    Have a great day everyone......BBL

Good morning, I think !  First cup of coffee is sitting before me so I am not awake yet. I do know it is dark and dreary, and my Arthur is killing me.  Oh well the Tylenol AS will kick in pretty soon. Rained here off and all night they say. I wouldn't really know.

Long day yesterday. Very tiring but busy. Had a very big turn out at the polls. Bigger than usual for a Primary. We only had one lull and it only lasted 15 min. Lots of first time voters also. We voted at the high school gym so they let the 17 and 18 yr olds out of class to come vote. The 17 year olds couln't vote for the school board though. We have 5 precincts in our city and surrounding area. They all meet at the gym in different areas of the big room. Nice to see so many people that I don't normally see too often. I think DH was even more worn out than I last night. He had to be on his feet a lot. My job as Clerk was a sit down job.  You could say I took one lo-ooong SSD.

Hi Mimi----Won't you feel good and gorgeous after lunch?  Woohoo !

AppleK---he he he Goats got the day off !  he he he

Lauriet---How nice to be Mother's Day Busy this weekend. Enjoy being with DM.

Well my comfy chair calls. Need a real eye opener. Maybe another cup of coffee. Coffee

Hugs and prayers for all the Grannies who need them.  Ginny, Liny and DH, Debbie, and all others.      BBL

Good morning, cloudy and a bit breezy. Temps will be in the 60's today.  A change from the past few days.  DH and I are meeting some friends for breakfast.

SUZI  I would be very tired after working like you and your DH did yesterday. Those polls require very long hours.  Take it easy today and rest.

LAURIET  I can hear and see those cats scrambling around.  LOL

CJ  I'm sorry you're not feeling well.  I hope the day goes fast and you'll be feeling better soon.

GREENBACK  Lots of things going on with you, Mothers day and a wedding! it's all good and I'm betting you're enjoying it too.  Relax and have a good day.

JUSTME  Tell Susy I said "hi" and I'm still waiting for her to get online.

APPLE  What's going on with L/Apple today?  school's out soon, right?

MIMIB  Enjoy your day and relax when you get your hair done.

    Time to go.  BBL

    Re: 5/7 Grannie Neighborhood

Good morning, Grannies.  Little late getting here--got up before DH left and had him get some of my flower planting stuff on the front porch for me so I can plant a few geraniums in my pots there.  Doing red and white in both pots.

Good morning, Mimi--if I don't ever get my dream job of buying the antiques for the Cracker Barrel Restaurant chain, working at a bookstore would be my next choice.  I would probably owe them at the end of the month!

Laurie, we had a toad strangler here last night, too, and my hostas are huge!

Cjay, I know how oversleeping can get the whole day off to a rough start--but I know it will smooth out for you.

Just me, I have made the veggie meatball soup out of the Febuary 2008 Simple & Delicious magazine, page 52, two or three times now and it is delicious!  Unique blend of ingredients, and even my picky daughters liked it.  If you don't have that magazine, I'll be glad to post the recipe.  Multiple ingredients, but very easy to assemble and it cooks in the crockpot.

Greenback, sounds like we have the same weather man!  Not sure what is in store for Mother's Day here, but we have baby dedication at our church and DD#1 is bringing Eli.  We hope son-in-law Jason is home from Indiana, too, where he has been working on a power plant (he's an engineer for GE).  DD#1 has to go back to work on Monday, and I'm not sure she will--she's such a good mom and I'm very surprised at how much she has taken to motherhood--she was always my career oriented girl--kind of the power woman.

Apple, my lawn needs mowed, too, but hubby planted in the garden last night and is glad he did since we got the rain overnight.

Gramsuzi, I bet you are tired, but I bet it is interesting to work at the polls, too.  Another goal I'll aspire to when I retire.

    Have a good day everyone!

    Re: 5/7 Grannie Neighborhood

Good morning. It was so bright and sunny when I got up and now it has turned all cloudy. Looks like we could get some rain so who knows. I think we are playing today. For us this time of the year that means nursery shopping. Love to see all of the flowers.  I always want to have something different on the deck and I always end up with the same old.

Mimib sharing a cup of coffee sounds like a good way to start the day. Don't work too hard today. I remember the days that I had to shift files and it was always hard on the back.

Apple the goat is resting here too. The front is always very slow to start looking nice but the back "with Albert's help" what he doesn't kill grows like a weed.

Lauriet yesterday before the rain it was just the right temp. We didn't get all that much rain but still more than we needed right now. Have fun with you DM on Friday.

Wanda anytime you can do a crock pot meal is a good one. They are just ready when you are. I always love the cut glass salad too.

Jane things are starting to come out in the nurseries but it has been slow. The lady that we talked to on Sunday said everything is about 3 weeks behind schedule. some of our bushes look behind more than that.

Cjayh hope the better weather stays for your field trips. Hope the cold leaves quickly too.

Suzi that was a long day sitting or standing. Take it easy today. I know what you can do "go out for breakfast" you both deserve it. At least you deserve not having to make it.

    Stylist enjoy your breakfast out.

I guess Albert is waiting so I had better get going.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Hugs and prayers for all.

    Re: 5/7 Grannie Neighborhood

     Goooood Morning, Grannies!!

A rainy start to the day, but should turn sunny by this afternoon. Though it never did rain yesterday. It was beautiful and got a lot done outside. I scrubbed up the deck furniture and put if out. Got the grill out, though that doesn't get used much. Also put the swing on the porch.

Mimib, Thanks for the coffee. It sounds like busy days for you.  Any new books that sound good?

Apple, We had a goat at one time. A lawn more does a better job, doesn't leave droppings or cause damage. Smile

Lauriet, It sounds like you have enough to keep you busy and out of trouble.

Justme, I'm sure you DM will be happy to see the house clean and shine when she comes home. When we went away the house was always clean when we left. I hated coming home to a messy house.

Jane, I was so tempted to go to the plant shop and buy plants when I was doing the deck. But I know it is way to early this year. But eventually the time will come.

Cjayh, Those kitties look so comfortable. I hope the trip to the nature center goes well.

Suzi, I heard on the radio that IN. had one of biggest turn outs for the primary. I'm sure you were glad to get home. Happy Birthday to DH.Cake Tell him  resting would be a good way to celebrate his day.

Stylist, Breakfast out sounds like a good way to start the day.

Debbie, What is a toad strangler? A thunder storm? I would like the recipe. I know longer get that magazine.

Alby, It sounds like a fun day for you. It is nice that Gary is interested in flower shopping with you.

Just the usual Wed. stuff here. I hope someone brought filler stuff for the quilts at church. The pickings are getting pretty slim.

    Re: 5/7 Grannie Neighborhood

Good Morning Friends. It rained hard last night, with lots of noise and lights, so I won't be working outside. I could clean, iron, bake in the house, but that just isn't as much fun! And it is chilly again, 57* and only into the 60s today. Give me yesterday's 79 anytime!! I see that my nose is all red, so guess that sun got me a bit yesterday.

Mimib, that bookstore work sounds like so much fun. I think several Grannies would like to work alongside you.

Apple, my kids had some goats and they didn't mow any of the grass.  Smile  Just ran around!

Laurie, enjoy Mother's Day with your Mom.

Wanda, I'll pass on the bagels (don't like them) and not sure about the chicken taco soup. But not much with chicken appeals to me anyway.   You should purchase TOH "Best of Country" Crockpot cookbook. It has some very good recipes in it. I have about a dozen earmarked that I've made and enjoyed.

Jane, we had a strong storm about supper time and then another later, about 8 p.m. Too wet to do anything outside today. Might go to B&D and Cresco and visit a church member who is in the hospital down there.

CJ, hope you feel well enough to enjoy both the nature center and the farm.

Suzi, thought of you yesterday. I see Indiana did good! Smile I used to work our township poll. But never very busy, even Pres. elections. Just fun to visit with everyone.

Stylist, more eating out. You folks are getting to be like Suzi and DH.

Debbie, sounds like a nice day, sitting on the porch planting!  When do you go back to your paying job?

Alby,  I love to tour a greenhouse, but they charge so much I end up just looking and dreaming. All I do is divide what I have, but would love lots of new things. Probably shop at an Amish home, she is a little cheaper for bedding plants.

Fran, our deck is over 30 years old and needs a complete do-over, but I guess I'll just buy some paint and let it soak in.

Guess I should get dressed and start to do something in here. Ho Hum!

    Re: 5/7 Grannie Neighborhood

    Good morning, grannies.

    Just started to rain, here.

MIMIB, we slept a little later, so I am ready for coffee. Nice for you to have dial-up, too, and that you can get your message out.

KATHIE, the goat will probably be back right after you get the grass cutting done.

LAURIET, enjoy the time with mom. When you're gone, the kitties probably snooze the whole time.

WANDA, that will be good comforting food for a meal with friends. Hope your mom is having bowling fun.

JANE, circle the day on the calendar, and have a relaxing evening.

CJAY, wishing the days stay nice for the field trips.

SUZI, I stopped working at the polls. And, I don't miss that long day, at all. Presidentials are always so busy. I can remember registering over 800 people in our district one year.

STYLIST, have a good breakfast time. Bet a walk was next on your list.

DEBBIE, we enjoy a good soup, too. Seems we have favorites, and do not try too many new ones. I noticed you asking about "5's". I started doing that. It seems I came to the neighborhood and the chores got done later in the day or not at all.

I will be going to quilting this morning, seeing Russell is feeling pretty good. He just won't be moving around in his usual manner. But, like I said last night, the leg pain is gone, already. The surgery really did the job. BBL
