    Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Coffee Its coffee time!! Coffee  I slept till almost 5:30 AM, and am just on the first cup!!  Coffee Michelle, are you ready for a cup or two or three???  Anyone else need a cup??? Sorry, no donuts or goodies in the house. LOL

Coffee  Doris, we have stayed away from Cranberries because some say it is not okay for a person on coumadin to eat cranberries and others says its alright..  We haven't experiement too much for fear of messing up the blood count, but he did eat some rhubarb pie yesterday....just one slice.  He will find out today when he tests again. The goal is once a month, but since he had surgury in March, it has been every two weeks.  The cranberry juice with splenda sounds really good.  I like cranberry salad and kinda miss making that with the SF jello, apples, nuts and celery...it is yummy.

Coffee  Not alot new here.  Today is catch up on the cleaning day and laundry...what else is there??? LOL Oh yeah.......Fish Fry!! LOL

    Hugs,

Morning Mary. Yes!!!! I NEED good coffee!! LOL. I'm soooooo tired. I was up at 1130 for a meeting at work yesterday, after I went to the house and started cleaning the ceiling tile (which I've found out was painted styrofoam LOL). I ended up bringing half the livingroom tile home and clean as I missed Taffy and felt guilty. It's ok as it was easier to clean it up at my house. I had some water based Kiltz so I thinned it a bit and put a thin coat over the part that faces the ceiling. I've some white latex paint that I'll "wash" the other side with and that should really make things look better. I did about 6 small panels at the house and I was amazed at how much better it looked. Even just using Simple green on it make it 200x's better. The living room carpet looks 100x's better too. When I'm done with work I'm going over and collecting the rest of the living room panels and wash the rails. I'm going to bring over a air mattress and Taffy tonite so I can get an early start in the morning. Oh ya, my coffee pot too LOL. Gas went up to $3.79 here and I can't take that kind of a hit much longer. I'll have to hurry and get moved out. I'll miss my space but things are coming along and the more it's clean, the better it looks and I feel like it won't be so bad. I feel even better since yesterday after our meeting one of the RN's that I work with stopped over with 2 flowers and after walking thru the house said that it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. Now I know opinions differ but it made me feel better as nobody else has been in it yet.

Well, my eyes are crossing. I'm off tonite and tomorrow but back Sunday. My neice turned 3 Tuesday and DB and DSIL are having a "party" for her at 1700 with a bon fire. Should be a nice and relaxing evening.

Oh crud!!!! I just remembered I need to go clean church sometime before 5pm tomorrow!!! Uff da, does it ever end???

    Sending love and Fuzzies!!

Hauke – It sounds like Heather is having a good time.  I hope your DS has a great time on his trip.  It sounds wonderful.  I've never traveled much, but I always thought it would be fun.  I'm like you, I wish I could do life over, but I want to know then what I know now.  Things would be so different.

Nancy – I hope things went okay at the nutritionist yesterday and you are doing well.

Marge – I'm glad you discovered a back way into TOH.  I'm really glad you are feeling good (or at least better) now.  It's better to need to buy clothes because everything is too big, rather than too small.  That's always a lot more fun!

Zonebrat – I'm sorry you had to put your furbaby down.  But you would hate see him suffer.  I'm glad DH's foot ulcer is doing better.

Mary – I know what you mean, I want so many different flowers.  They are all so pretty.  But I don't do well with them, so they don't stay alive long.  So I'll save my money.  No, I haven't gotten the Wii hooked up.  I'm hoping to get it done this weekend, even if I have to enlist the help of my brother and the boys.  So glad your rhubarb custard came out good.  Enjoy the Fish Fry this evening.

Doris – I usually buy smaller plants.  This one is pretty big, so I'm hoping it is hardy enough that it will last a while.  It was still pretty windy yesterday, so I will try to get it out in the open today.  I think the weather is supposed to be better.  Have a great time with DH's mother.  Safe travels.

Michele – What a mess about the ceiling tiles.  I can't believe it is just painted styrofoam!  Our as went to $3.85.  And they say it is only going to go up for now.

Deb – We haven't seen you for a while.  I hope you enjoyed your days off and that you have been really busy at work and you are just too tired to check in.  That would be very nice, all that extra cha-ching!

It was a hard night last night.  It seems everything I picked up was a problem document.  Plus some people expect way too much.  They think it takes no time to do something, when it reality it will take a long time.

They are working on the garage at work.  Usually, I can get a space on the first floor.  Last night, since it rained, I had to park on the 3rd floor.  I forgot to move my car.  So when I went to leave, I had to go up the down ramp because they were working on the other one.  I will remember to move my car this evening.

I slept until 7:00 this morning.  I did my walk, had breakfast, now I'm here.  It's pretty cloudy out right now, but I think it is to clear up for a while, then rain again this evening.

Today, I'm having lunch with one of the co-workers that chose to leave the firm.  It will be good to catch up with her.

As far as I know, our gas is at $3.69....but that could change since I didn't go to town yet.  Highway robbery, if you ask me!!   It really sad that our ecomomy (sp) is in the sad shape its in.  The stimulous checks go for gas and food....we pay it right back to the government.

Michelle,  Simple Green is good stuff.  If I had some of that STP 90, I would send you some.  It really cleans dirty walls, etc.  I cleaned all our ceiling tile with it and it cleaned all the smoke stain off the walls...it was unbelievable.  Glad you have some time off, but it sounds like you are so busy!!!

Deb, you must be working alot too....I hear Cha Ching???

Joyce, sorry you had such a hard night at work last night. Hope tonight is better.  I am tempted to buy myself a begonia at the store hear in town, but it is rather on the cool side, so I might wait.

Break is over...better get some work done!! LOL

    Hugs

    Good morning, everyone.

Cloudy, cooler, light rain, maybe. Not May weather, for sure.

MARY, my coffee cup had a couple of refills, already. Not much here today, either. As for a fish fry, I may just do one at home.

MICHELE, you are whipping that house into good shape. But, it is too bad the clean-up was on your shoulders. Relax at the party and enjoy the bonfire and family.

JOYCE, amazing how those wanting work done forget how long some things take. Wouldn't it be nice to have a magic wand? A few hanging planters around makes the yard and porch look nice. I even found some pots already planted with a variety and I bought them, instead of making my own.

MARGE, glad you got here to say hi. Sometimes when I can't get on thru TofH, I go to www.bestsimplerecipes and then click on new forums. And, that brings you here.

DORIS, I drink that cranberry juice all the time. Sometimes, I mix it with half Sprite for a spritzer.

Hey, DEB, how are you doing?

HAUKE, nice your kids can travel. My parents traveled every summer and we visited most of the contiguous United States. Well, after all that, I am not much of a traveler, now. How are your trip plans coming along?

I will be meeting with two Delta Kappa Gamma friends to choose a recipient for a scholarship from our group. It's not easy with the good applicants we have applying.

Time to get up and move around.

    Morning,

Michelle, you sound like you've got things under control at the new place.  Good luck over the weekend making it live able so you'll soon be able to move in permanently.

Nancy, I bet that's tough, having to pick a winner.  As to my trip, I hope to go to Reno in June and from there I'll head over to Portland.  I'd love to spend a few days on the coast just relaxing, but since the summer season starts early June, many of the resorts / hotels are on high prices for the summer or already booked for when we're thinking of going there.

I did talk to Jill Pill yesterday to see what her schedule is like that time of year.  Thankfully her teaching schedule is diminished a bit, so we'd be able to spend some time with her and her family.  She also said to say HI to everyone here.  She's so swamped with her work and family obligations, she hardly ever has time to get on the computer.

Mary, I'm ready for a coffee...  Yours always smells so good so I think I'll have to go start mine.  LOL  I love you idea of how to get breakfast in bed... so true at my house!

Zonebrat, sorry to hear about your fur baby.  But I know you wouldn't want him suffer.  ((((Zonebrat)))))

Deb, are you working extra shifts, or away?

Doris, drive safe... and enjoy your trip away.

Joyce, I don't totally understand a Wii... but I believe they come with different "programs".  What are you going to do with yours - golfing?  bowling?  tennis?  or something else.

Well, I need to go start my coffee pot.  I  hear Rebecca rambling downstairs as well.  We're planning on leftover pork today, so I'm going to do some research on how to serve it.  We had a pork roast the other day and need to make something with the leftovers.  Ideas anyone?

    Have a great Friday.

    I forgot...

Did any of you see on your news that parts of Alberta got up to 15 inches of snow yesterday!  WWAAAAA!

We didn't, but it got to within an hour of where I live.   Where Heather lives got it - so she'll be glad she was in Chile at the time and missed it.  Hopefully it will be all gone by the time she comes home tomorrow night.

It seems the entire west edge of the province was under snow.  It has been years and years since I've seen snow here in May - it's only ever happened once before that I can remember and that was in the 80's.

Just thought I'd share this update of out "spring" weather"   LOL

Sorry I've been MIA, but my life is real busy right now.  Not really any extra hours at work, other than to attend meetings, but the tips have been very good.  The guy is coming at 9am Sat to lay the vinyl, put the new commode in and the new sink, so maybe I'll have some free time in the morning to come for a nice chat.

Not really sunny here, but brighter than this morning. I still wore a jacket when I went out.

So funny with the scholarship and our choice. We each read the applications and essays separately, and we end up with the same choice. We each choose two, but our top one always matches. This has happened ever since I have been on the Scholarship Committe with the other two women.

HAUKE, that will be nice to get away and hopefully visit with Jill. I wonder if we will get some icky weather. I know rain is coming, and that is from a Low Front out in Montana, right now.

DEB, that will be nice to have the work done. And, the men doing to work are usually so good, they complete the job quickly.

MARY, looks like our plans are changed. Now, the neighbor wants to go out for a fish fry. Who am I to argue with an idea like that.

I have started to knit a few prayer shawls for a couple of people at church. That is a wonderful ministry.

Hope the afternoon is going well for all.

    Good Afternoon Everyone!!!

It was a gloomy cool day here with a little rain and just plain damp.  It is only 55 degree's. The hummingbirds are at the feeders now and the other little birds are eating like little piggies, so I know spring is here.  I just love those dear little hummingbirds and love to watch them eat and fight!! LOL

Hauke, that is awful about a snow storm in May!! I didn't see it on the news, but boy, Heather can be glad she is in Chili right now!!  I think what really scares me with the weather is all the tornado's here of late.

Nancy, great minds think alike with who should get the scholarship!!  That would be a real rough decision is someone disagreed.   Hope you are feeling rested up.  The prayer shawls sound really nice.

Deb, hope you are happy with the work you are getting done.  I remember a girlfriends mother in high school told a person that she could set a toilet...no problem.  That is until she tried to do it and found out she couldn't do it...LOL  I guess it was quite a mess and I forgot how it all ended. I just always thought it was funny.

The fish fry we are having is Salmon patties and Spanish rice...LOL  I don't know why, but I get so hungry for Spanish Rice here of late....I just love it.

I thought that kitchen siggie was cute too....just couldn't pass it up.

    Hugs,

    Mary

Re: DC Conversation - Friday, May 9

I had keyed in a post earlier and it went to never-never land again!!  Let's see what happens this time.

I have another recipe to share.  I made this for our supper and it's REALLY good (so good that I had 2 helpings).  This was posted on the recipe side of the BB by Cooknchic several years ago.

    Spanish Cauliflower

    1 head cauliflower
    ****************************
    1/4 C. butter, melted
    1 T. sugar
    1/2 t. salt
    1/2 t. pepper
    1 C. cracker crumbs
    1/2 C. diced green pepper
1 16 oz can tomatoes, chopped
    1 med. onion, chopped
    1 1/2 C. shredded cheddar cheese

Wash cauliflower and remove leaves. Break into florets. Cook for 5 minutes in salted water. Drain.

In large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, salt, pepper, and cracker crumbs. Stir in green pepper, tomatoes, onion, 1 1/4 C. cheese and hot drained cauliflower.

Pour into 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake in 350° oven for one hour. Serve hot.

I finally got busy this afternoon and put all of those pages of recipes laying around into their proper notebooks.  I have four 3" binders full of recipes.  So full that I need to buy another notebook.  Almost all of them are from the recipe side of this BB.  I really should start going through them, trying them, and weeding our the ones we don't like.

I've been thinking about the Mexican dessert that I'm fixing for Mother's Day.  I think I'm making some changes.  Instead of just s/f pudding I'm going to mix some l/f cream cheese into the pudding.  Then I'm going to top that mixture with some stewed rhubarb.  I'll still use the cinnamon/sugar tortilla cups to hold everything.  I think Mom will like the rhubarb topping.  I know I will.

Yesterday when we bought groceries I found the prettiest pink tea roses at Aldi's.  Before going to see Mom today I went back for some for Mom.  The pink ones didn't very nice today so I bought Mom some white ones.  The bouquets cost a whoppin $3.20 for 8 roses.  We also picked up a Gerba (sp?) daisy plant for Kenny's Mom.  It was $4.00.

Joyce I've been into the shops area of the casino in Lawrenceburg.  I haven't been onto the boat though.  There is also the boat you mentioned at Rising Sun and another at Patriot.  When I was working I did telephone line assignments for Dillsboro, Guilford, East Enterprise, Lawrenceburg, Aurora, Rising Sun, and Patriot.  I still have a friend from my working days who lives in Versailles.  We usually visit with Ozzie when we're headed to Tennessee.

Doris I like the  light cranberry/grape that Ocean Spray puts out.  I can drink the cran/raspberry and the white cranberry as well but the cran/grape is my favorite and I don't like grape juice.  Go figure!  I drink a glass every morning.

Well let's see if this one posts.  Have a great weekend everyone.

What a good idea to put some Diet Sprite into that 10 calorie cranberry juice!  I'll have to tell dh about that, especially for the summer.

I'm just quickly here, have too much to catch up with.  We got gas down in the valley, $3.89 and saw other stations with $3.99 and 2 stations had $4.04, they were empty, let me tell you!!!!   The casino coffee shop only had 2 other couples in there while we were there!!!!  This is a not small casino mind you.  There were quite  a few folks from an old car club that were just bringing their suitcases in, so maybe that little convention will help, but it was noticablly less people there.   I wish we could have stayed there, lol lol.

Good night friends.    And where did you get that little "Kitchen" saying Mary??  That's good, that "Colorfull Images" catalog had some kitchen towels and magnets that had sayings like that on them.  I love those!!!
