Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea. Today's lovely party is dedicated to "Putting the Kettle On". The dawn of the day is assembling, like a parade of grand floats! Do not hold your applause til the end, as each entry is worthy of its own brass band. Pick a theme and please your palate. Set a pretty table and invite company to share in the event. It is never too late to change your parade route for road construction and the sun is always ready to shine. The nicest thing about tea is....its never out of line or reach! Whatever you have on hand is perfectly grand. Come early, arrive late, pick a cup and fill your plate. Enjoy it piping hot or icey cold. Your manners are lovely and no age limit exists. The poorer you arrive the richer you'll be after you savor the enjoyment of tea.
Yesterday we had quite a flurry of company and with every knock on the door smiles entered. In the midst of things, a hazmat suited pest control company gave us the lovliest show of force against a troop of wasps, hornets and boring bees. I had to giggle wildly as a neighbor after neighbor asked, 'What's going on over at your place?' I think perhaps I should put out a newsletter or at least a chalkboard sign. What a group we had, unexpectedly. Everyone stayed for tea. Amazing! Delightful! I raided the pantry and cupboard so many times and still came out hands and heart full.
If I add that Dear Grandpa slept peacefully as hands cradled and held him, please understand that moments are precious and his hospital bed is his chair. Oh he is so loved and appreciated, pampered and petted, and will be greatly missed one day....I hope not today, but I hope not today every day.
Precious puppy Trixie remains in quarantene, but her spirits are very high. It won't be long before she brings her tail wagging exhuberance to the front door welcome.
I had such a nice lunch compliments of a wonderful little restaurant called "The French Laundry". They offer the most amazing array of sandwich combinations I have ever heard of and having one of their carry out menus is like having a personal cookbook of ideas. They offer a vegetable strudle that is utterly amazing with slivered veggies of all kinds with a bit of melted cheese nestled in buttery phyllo pastry. I have to recreate myself or doom myself to carry out forever. That is a place that has a shabby chic atmosphere of celebration where every choice is a winning one. Its still a bit chilly for their outdoor cafe but when the chairs are uncovered people still sit down even if it means shivering. I am lucky to have our little town down the hill on the corner of our street.
Do come and share in this lovely little tea. I expect the water company to come and investigate why my meter is reading a high output, but I would rather boil water than end up in it.
Today I have 'Republic of Tea, Mankind Blueberry' in mind. It is especially healthy and caffeine free [or not].
Waving wildly at Dear Carole with my new book [that she suggested] and offering a mat for Dear Susie's shoes [the rule is, don't plant til after Mother's Day...but its almost here]. I have the table filled with the most wonderful garden books! Some are very old but, I love them just the same.
Will you please add a prayer for Dear Germanlady, she lost her Dear Mother and is feeling the need of your company. Your very grateful hostess and friend, Mary
