    AHHHH My son froze my....

Pillsbury cresent rolls & cinnamon rolls!  Any suggestions on how to save them?  It says on the container "do not freeze" - I'm not sure why you can't freeze them..dough can be frozen, maybe it's because of the can?  Anyone have a clue?

I googled and found this :

I had made the mistake of keeping the cans of rolls in the freezer instead of fridge; it did not affect the end result, the rolls turned out to be just as good, but they had frozen together and were very hard to separate. I later learned that the cans should be refrigerated, not frozen (read the label - duh!), and that helped a lot: the dough is pre-cut, and the rolls easily come apart.

I wonder if they don't recommend freezing because there's no headspace in the can, so they might explode in the freezer?

    SStetzel, I think they're dead.

Please join me in remembering a great icon. Veteran Pillsbury spokesperson, The Pillsbury Doughboy, died yesterday of a severe yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes to the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a slightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out, including Mrs. Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, Captain Crunch and many others.

The graveside was piled high with flours as long-time friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who "never knew how much he was kneaded."

Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with many turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, even as a crusty old man, he was still considered a roll model for millions.

Toward the end it was thought he'd raise once again, but he was no tart.

Doughboy is survived by his second wife, Play Dough. They have two children and one in the oven. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

I would go ahead and bake them and see how they come out of the oven.

If you can't get them separated I would try putting the entire tub of dough in a bread pan (Sprayed with Pam or equal) and let it defrost and rise in the pan.  Could take a while but that is what I would do.

Let us know what you decide and how it worked out.

'Scuse me, but all those in-store bakeries in grocery stores? They use frozen dough, frozen croissants, and frozen buns.

A dear friend of mine and I were discussing using pre-ferments, such as sourdough...and she doesn't have the time to be making them often...she freezes them and thaws them well to use.

You should be able to use them!

(I'd be using the crescent dough as a base for a pizza type dish, or that apple cresent dessert)

I think Pillsbury's worry is the exploding of the can once it is frozen.  Then if you thaw in in the can the yest may cause it to explode.  That's probably why they say don't freeze.
