    Walgreen's prescription cost

I work 2-3 days a week in a pediatrician's office.  Today one of the children of an employee was in and the doctor gave them a script for amoxicillin.  The dad took the script to Walgreen's and the cost was $35 !!  We about had a cow!  The mom told him to go back and ask them to price match Walmart or Meijer.  Dad did.  The Walmart price was $4.00 and the Meijer price was FREE, so dad got it free.

$35 for amoxicillin!  Talk about highway robbery.

I guess they are wanting on the wagon to price gouge what people have to have to survive, too.

The highest medicine we have to get is DH's celebrex with insurance, 35.00

My Premarin cream is 35.00 too.

The methotrexate and folic acids are 10 dollars.

Walgreens and Longs are $$$$    Is there a COSTCO around ?  If people go into their website they can check all of their drug prices.  www.costco.com  and just click on pharmacy.

You  DO NOT need to be a member to get perscriptions there.  The savings is unreal if they have what you need.  Especially if you can get Generic.

The Meijer Rx was free because they have a list of many generic drugs that are free --  they're trying to compete (beat) Walmart's drug prices.

I had forgotten that anyone could get a script filled at Costfco...thanks for the reminder.  My husband and I don't need many medications, and we have good insurance, but you never know what tomorrow will bring!

Thanks for the heads up on Cosco.  I have Humana, a Medicare supplement.  When I was in the hospital 10 days in January, my scrips put me in the donut hole.  Even some of my generics are $50 to $200.

Just to add a little humor to a very sad situation...Does anyone think or suspect those darn insurance company drug co-pays are just a way of the insurance company trying to knock off all of us "sickies"?  That's so when all the prescription dependent insurees die from not taking our meds, they will be left with only the "healthy" ones?????

I understand the high cost...our prescription bill each month is $270.  Two of us have severe asthma.  Need the meds to breath.  But I don't know...Eating & not breathing?  Breathing & not eating?   HMMMM?  What a choice!

I know that feeling.  I can't afford my Celebrex, so therefore I take more pain pills, which by the way are very cheap in comparison.  And with my Plavix, I just go without.

rrpinin, my husband has taken it for a few years off and on, for RA, also.

That and Cellebrex, and Folic Acid.

    Horrible disease, that RA.

Just about any Audo-Imune disease is horrible, because if you have one, you can be hit with another one on down the road.

CVS is no better....but that is why it's called a free enterprise system I guess....

I switched to Target from CVS....it's a farther drive but I really save big time.......as my meds were on the 4 buck for 30 day supply plan....now I see Wally world is going to a 10 bucks for a 90 day supply on some meds...hope Target follows suit....

    Re: Walgreen's prescription cost

I was told by a CVS phramacy manager that CVS will price match their prescriptions with other stores (Walmart, etc) and I know they've done it for people I've told this to so if you really want to go to CVS then call and ask them to do it.
