Whoo hooo!  When DH went to pick up eggs and hashbrowns, he came home with a dozen roses too!

Yes Katie, thanks for the reminder, and I dont' mind doing this for my mom and his mom, I enjoy hosting dinners, sometimes I get selfish and think "what about me?" but when has DH failed me for mothers day?  Okay, somtimes it felt like a let down, but that is only if I have expectations, and I shouldn't have any.

So DH went out to do an odd job for the afternoon.  He is clearing a spot for a shop for an electrician, the dad of the kids I babysit.  It might help off-set the cost of the first camping trip.  First camping trip is soooo expensive, we need to insure our trailer, fill up two propane bottles, stock it with food, that alone has got to be $200, plus the cost of camping itself!  OUCH!  I can hardly justify counting food as an expense, except that we do it more and differently when we camp.

Half way done my housework, and the sun is coming out, whoo hoo, better turn on the sprinkler!  The kids played in the sprinkler yesterday, started off with their swimsuits, came inside, put on jackets, and continued to play (shaking head, crazy kids, it was barely 15º)

Waving hello as I wait for my kitchen floor to dry. Have run out to bring DH lunch and pick up groceries, chatted with my DDs on the phone, and done a load of laundry. Need to switch it in a bit.

We've never done the Mother's/Father's Day thing here, so it's just another day. The kids might come home to visit, or they might call and say the words, but to give mom the day off? No!, That doesn't happen. We never celebrated it when we were growing up, either, on either DH's or my side of the family. My father always said we didn't need those kinds of days. Every day is a day to give thanks and be good to each other. He said it's a worldly thing.

I think DD will start that tradition in her household, though. Her DH is very much into that kind of thing. I'm sure she'll get flowers! The GKs are still too young to help her, but I fully believe they will celebrate it in their own way.

And so we will just enjoy a quiet, restful day. I wsh the rest of you a wonderful Mother's Day, however you spend it.

    Hello everyone,

Well,I hope the prairie girls are having a good visit.  Sounds like it should be a fun gathering.

Today was a long and tiring day.  We were so busy.  I did get a "thank you for coming in" from my manager.  I wish a had stayed home though.  I have so much that I could have been doing.  Oh well, it will jsut have to wait til next weekend.  Mom called  tonight and invited us down for supper tomorrow.  I guess Dad decided that he wants to cook a turkey and wants us all there for dinner to help eat it.  We were going to visit Mil tonight, but they weren't home.  I think they might have gone to check on their camp this weekend and see how it faired in the flood.

I was going to stay up and watch the race tonight, but I'm too tired.  I think I am going to go to bed early since I didnt' sleep to well last night.  I even had to kick dh to the spare room last night... it was his snoring that was keeping my up anyways! *lol*

Have a good evening and happy mother's day to all the moms

    Cathy

Oh and speaking of mother's day, did you hear about the mother of 17 who is now expecting her 18th child??  I'd hate to have to try and feed and clothe that family.  Family dinners must be fun in that house.

Well, DH is still gone, making some extra cash for camping trip.  I think for supper we will order in Chinese food, as I wanted a meal off for mothers day.  It's so much easier doing take out then eating in.  No making the kids wait, and no having to pay $2 for a drink!   Call me el cheapo!! LOL.  Got a dishwasher, so a few plates and forks and cups aint gonna kill me!

Bought a nice plant for a friend of mine, went to give it to her, but she wasn't home.  she hates mothers day.  Her mom died probably around 7 years ago, and even though she is now a mom of two adorable boys, she still finds it so hard, and it doesn't help that her dad's new wife told her that she should just get over it!!!  Somedays I wonder if she might be the evil stepmom in pretty clothing!  So I thought it would brighten her day, and now she wasn't even home!

Oh, my kids saw dandelions when we went to the store, so they stopped and picked me a large boquet of them, they are on the table outside! LOL.

Well, I'm bored, guess I will do laundry now.

Well ladies,   the prairie gang supper was great. (I knew it would be!!)  we had 4 children, 3 DHs and 5 posters.  Lots of chatter and good eats

Laura: J did all the driving home.  They were there not even 5 minutes after you left.  Thanks again for keeping me company.  DH was sleeping and the spelt is all seeded.

I fully expected to see a report on the busy Sask Saturday here when we got home but.... I guess I'll say Can't wait to find a reason for another trip west to do it all again.
